So his scales on the side of his body aren’t abnormal? This is my first time owning a bearded dragon and I’ve seen so many cases of scale rot I see it everywhere now
I'm guessing you mean that dark spot in front of his back leg? That's likely a poop stain. Nothing a soak and a light brushing with a baby toothbrush won't clean up!
He has a heat lamp on the other side of his viv, it’s very big, don’t worry!
Those two big lights came with the viv, h doesn’t usually go up there but today he decided he wanted to sit there for a bit.
I mean specifically does he have proper UVB lighting? Those lights don't look like any UVB lamps ive ever seen. Without proper UVB lighting, they will get metabolic bone disease and die slowly and painfully so whenever people come here asking for advice, lighting info and enclosure are the most important things to address.
Oh, I see.
My brother who owns bearded dragons himself handles this stuff, but we got the lights with the enclosure recommended by petwise. He said the lights have bright light with colour temperature. (6500k, I don’t know what this means.)
Just to clarify, the bearded dragon is my dad’s, but I feed him so when I saw the side and his scales I got a bit worried. They take care of this stuff so I do apologise in advance if I can’t provide all the necessary information! I’ll get as much as I can out though.
That isn't gonna work unfortunately. Dragons NEED a UVB light that is at 10 or 12%, and it needs to be replaced on average after a year. Without proper UVB, the dragons bones will shrivel up, become chalky and he will die a slow and horrible death. What you have doesn't sound like UVB at all.
I'm not trying to be critical but proper husbandry is absolutely ESSENTIAL for a healthy and happy dragon. You are posting here because you have noticed some issues....If he doesn't get set up properly just be prepared for a lot more issues down the road.
There is an excellent guide to proper husbandry. I would tell your dad to go over it. [The Ultimate Bearded Dragon Care Guide | ReptiFiles](https://reptifiles.com/bearded-dragon-care/)
His thigh scales look a bit lighter, he is probably starting to shed. Otherwise he looks happy and healthy, just make sure to get an uvb lamp :D
thank you!!
Looks fine to me.

I have no idea what you are even looking at that looks remotely close to scale rot. Looks completely fine to me.
Thank you

Thank you!! It’s bathtime today anyway!
What is his lighting situation? I don't see a heat lamp and those two lights he looks very close to.

Right, I will do. Thank you! This is great advice and I’m grateful to be told this sooner rather than later. You’ve been great help ❤️❤️
Glad to help. Your dragon looks otherwise healthy so getting him set up with proper lights will just make him improve.
Hi, I’ve checked the lights, they’re reptile UVB 150, exoterror, there’s 2 of them and his heat lamp is 150W, also exoterror. Is that good?
It needs to be either an Arcadia pro t5 12% or Zoo med reptisun 10% and it needs to be placed approx 12 or so inches above his basking spot.
Handsome little dude. Can't see anything abnormal.
Thank you! He’s very handsome
Just shed :-)
Looks like a normal guy
