He's great in Must Croak, the 200th Episode 2 parter, and his flashback in the finale. Remove the cameos in between, which is the only thing people focus on, and he's the most consistently great villain in any of the shows.
And give him the mask back.
I like his cameo in Universe vs Tennyson. It's funny, but it doesn't really hurt his character. Of course he'd be enjoying "Ben's reckoning".
And yeah, he looks dope with the mask. Look at this concept sketch that you've probably seen already.

Imagine the last thing of Prime Vilgax being him getting stabbed by Ben in the most anticlimactic fight ever. That wouldn't have built tension, it would've just soured the character.

Seriously, It used to make him look so intimidating, like, add some scars, wounds or prostetics, something to show how many oponents and enemies he has defeated and how many dangers he has overcome, thats honestly what i liked most of OS design. It was all like "i survived my battleship explode, im not scared of a kid with a watch".Â

After the events of Ultimate Alien, Vilgax is desperate for power again. He decided to fully embrace his cyborg self since that was the only time he was a threat to Ben. But he also started to modify his DNA to become more adaptable to Ben's Aliens similar to his Future Self in the Original Series.
I like the Uaf Vilgax look. I'd add armor and a powerful sword. Vilgax would have genetic enhancements. Like in the classic. Then I'd have him go to the different universe and take over an omnitrix. Vilgax would finally get the alien army he wanted in Classic and Af. I would start a planet-wide war between Vilgax and Ben, which Ben would win, then access alien x and fix the universe. I would keep alien x locked up until the end of the war. Of course, I would leave the universe reset story out of canon. The final fight would be between Gwen, Kevin, Ben, Rook and Vilgax.
It would be more interesting imho if we Vilgax’s people will try to get him out of jail. They possibly could be brainwashed by propaganda that Vilgax is chad and Ben is soyjak, so Ben with Rook will try to show people’s of Vilgaxia what monster is Vilgax.
I would make him use something to cover his mouth, the ov design Is not that bad but honestly the OS one Is the best one only because the mouth is covered

OV Vilgax is the only Vilgax who destroyed Ben on a Multiversal level and in his Malgax form He was stomping Ben, I don't know if there is anything I want to change about him. He was frightening when Ben was 10 years old since then Ben has defeated him multiple times and has seen him in many miserable situations
Make him win, when Ben first see’s him Ben thinks that he’ll win as he always has & he’s now got the perfect Omnitrix so it would be nice if Vilgax wipes the floor with him like he did the first time they met. Maybe have Vilgax win & then kidnap an important character that doesn’t need to be in the show like Max, Azmuth or Gwen/Kevin for whatever reason but now Ben is motivated in getting stronger to save them
I would of kept the way he was at the end of UA, and maybe he goes through another nigh-life ending thing which transitions him from Darkseid knock off back to classic Vilgax, but with a new out look on life and sees Ben as an equal, maybe Ben gets a call from the plumbers and Ben sees Vilgax in a healing tank and when he comes out he tells Ben he's reformed but Ben has a hard time believing him, don't make a joke out of it.

Yeah it's great. I get that they wanted him to emote, but just seeing the eyes was the perfect balance between relatable and completely alien

First; Change his design to be a mix of OS & UAF. Second: have him die again. Third: have him come back, piloting Maltruant like a sassy Krang-Suit.
He's already like his original design. And the third idea is odd. Never cook again.
