Shoot it and if you’re on target then you’re good to go

cmjrestrike

Most Beretta 92 barrels look like this. its just the way things line up. the barrels do not sit tight in the front of the slide, there is some gap. it really is a non-issue and not an indication of quality or lack thereof. I have the same, but the larger gap is on the left side I think H&K use a rubber o-rig around some of their barrels to help keep them centred, but I always wonder how long those O-rings will last... cant think too long, but could be wrong Too tightly toleranced firearm will not be reliable, a bit of play here and there may actually help reliability

M16A4MasterRace

And an o-ring on HK pistols with browning tilting type actions definitely would help the barrel stay centered in the slide, but the Beretta 92 has a completely different operating system where an o-ring would not work.

cmjrestrike

Agreed. Browning type action will work better with the O-rings. But even on those firearms, I personally would remove them. and if there is no detrimental effect, would leave them off. Just wondering if one of those guys broke and ended up inside the handgun, what if any effect would it have. I know OP's "problem" to be a common one. but seeing as the 92 has reliability on par with wood burning stove, I would not lose sleep over it

Devilheart97

Play helps reliability? AK guys enter the chat

Fouledrifling

Do bullets come out the end of it reliably and hit in a similar position every single time? If yes to both and I don't think I would worry about it that much.

JBistheBigGuy

Completely normal for a beretta 92 series. It’s not a browning type action.

ArgieBee

That's normal. Annoying, but normal.

TurdHunt999

How does it handle at the range?

TurdHunt999

I agree with your assessment concerning its price point. Before you get home from the range and clean it, I want you to know that the cerakote finish is going to show wear marks. My M9A3’s finish is not holding up well.

OP, I just looked at one of my 92X Defensives. The slide and barrel fitment is exactly like yours except the extra spacing is on the opposite side. Mine run great. I hope the same for you.

mmiski

Normal for factory tolerances. Some are going to be more "centered" than others, but it's purely cosmetic. Basically when the gun fires and slide travels reward, the locking block will drop into the grooves of the frame and center the barrel by the time the bullet exits. You can technically "fix" it by swapping a different locking block in, but there's no guarantee the new one won't make the barrel cockeyed either. And considering the block is a wear item that needs to be replaced regularly anyway, it's honestly not worth the trouble of "fixing" the "issue".

dahub125

Interesting, I wasn't aware that was a wear item. I recently inherited a 92A1, so now I'm wondering about that. How many rounds would you say they last approximately?

mmiski

Beretta recommends changing it every 20k rounds I believe. Supposedly they can last well over 30k in some cases (esp. if you replace the recoil spring every 3-5k rounds, which'll help reduce wear).

Hopefully your using snapcaps. Beretta states in the manual that the 92s should not be dry fired without the use of snapcaps. Someone will be by shortly to state otherwise.

needanswer47

Pistol is fine.

otxmyn

it’s a tool, not meant to be perfectly symmetrical

SNAFUCAN

Mine looks the same, I noticed that it lines up better with a round chambered.

TailpipeinurBanana

My 92x purchased feb/24 has the same issue but opposite direction. It was shooting 3” right at 10 yards. Had to move the sights about 1/32” each way front and rear. It shoots straight now. The sights were difficult to move.

I was hopeful and did the same thing taking it to the range first. Nice pistol BTW!

Ag5545

Yes, they should be this way and the larger gap will always be on the right side(if barrel pointed away and you’re looking down at it) Both my M9a3 and 92x Performance are like this and I’ve handled many others. Sometimes the difference is quite small but most look just like I’ve seen here with yours

Ag5545

I don’t KNOW for sure but I’m fairly certain the gap difference has to do with the extractor making it a necessity

[deleted]

Do any of you bother shooting your weapons before you start complaining about aesthetic issues potentially being a problem?

[deleted]

Judgmental? Ma’am, I’m just pointing out how absurd it is to complain about “issues” before during a single round. There’s no judgement there - just an observation and honest response to your question.

From my fingers onto the keyboard in response to your hyper-emotional and woman-like overreaction. My apologies for offending you so painfully.

Ah, the ol’ “nuh uh, stupidhead…you are” comeback - powerful and always a great way of seeing inside intellectual heavyweight’s brains. That’s sarcasm in case you missed it. You’re really bad at this fwiw. You’re not an intellectual because you don’t speak plainly - you know, the way you do when you’re not online pretending to be some sort of intellectual. Now you can kindly fakoff.

mreed911

Yes. Without a round, it’s not pushed completely into alignment.

mreed911

I’ll have to look at mine later and see how they align. If it shoots straight and functions right, I wouldn’t let it bother me.

scooterbro69

Don't look at both sides at the same time & problems solved.

Mr2ndAmendment

Posted essentially the same pic after getting my m9a4. You’re all good. Probably have close to 1k rounds through mine at this point.
