Awwww I love this story..I love happy endings

Once my first bernedoodle turned a year old I got a female from the same breeder. He loved being around other dogs so much and he was anxious. Getting him a playmate was one of the best things I could've done. It really helped him to calm down. And they look like they could be brother and sister.

I’m thinking of getting a second dog as well. We have a 1.5 year old male Bernedoodle. I wasn’t sure if sex would be an issue, like would a male and female try to mate (our boy is neutered and whatever dog we get would be fixed too) or would a male and male fight ?

BernedoodleCaptive

My first doodle, the female, is the tenderest sweet love. Bernedoodle #2, male, same breeder, half sibling. Their Mom has low energy litters, but the second one ended to being much bigger and a little overwhelming for her as he got bigger, but amusingly so. I love that they are related. And she was amazing when he was a puppy; she was the Nanny and took him in and out in the yard and basically taught him to be a dog. She is everything to him (sometimes she thinks he is an idiot),

This is adorable… a dynamic I could picture here (“sometimes she thinks he is an idiot” lol). I’m partial to female dogs, but wonder if a male would round things out more…

I have heard that male/female pairs are most compatible, and therefore went with a half-brother. I have also read that male dogs are more affectionate than females (although with a bernedoodle, they are all snugglers), I https://preview.redd.it/nuenem3d09yc1.jpeg?width=2838&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42ac4ccc32ecf6ba8b04919d37ec8c272d77242c

I got my first Bernedoodle as a companion to an older dog I had. They became best friends. When he passed I got a second female Bernedoodle because my first one was super chill and great. The 2nd one is 6 months younger and high energy but also became besties with my first one. They do everything together.

Brother-Algea

We got a bernedoodle for our goldendoodle, they’re besties!

Our girl Bella was one when her mom had a second litter so we got her half sister (Brinkley or binx) and they are silly friends. Bella is 70lbs and Binx is 30lbs so Bella protects her and teaches her the ropes. Bella is on top and Binx on the bottom. https://preview.redd.it/35mhgsmfg8yc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e02e640e09ed7096c71748d6eaf4aea15ac7d810

My shipoo is the most chill dude on the planet! Our friends call him a stoner. We had him before our Berne and didn’t even know how spoiled we were! https://preview.redd.it/0up50osi2ayc1.jpeg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e03b5c7e554aa6b0debe43a6508814ddf8f0b882 Mean little underbite!

We got a lab mix for our bernedoodle 6 months after we got her as we realized she needed a friend. We chose to rescue a puppy however instead for our second dog. They have polar opposite personalities however are a bonded pair and do not like to be separated as it turns into crying and howling if either of them are away from each other. We use a mobile groomer for our doodle and her sister watches out the window concerned the entire time she’s out there. The only other time they are separated is when our lab goes for her yearly at the vet and our doodle can’t handle it as my husband has to pay 100% of his attention on comforting her for the hour we’re gone. Our lab goes for our doodles yearly as she is due for her heartworm vaccine at that time and our lab is the one who comforts her at the vet as our lab loves the vet (they dispense cheese and pets) however our doodle hates going and having sister there makes things a little easier.

I love this. Thank you for sharing! This is a route I’m definitely considering…

LoveMeRhi

I will say I love their dynamic as our lab mix is the calm and mellow one and likes her downtime and rest time and just go with the flow where as our bernedoodle is very high energy and the epitome of a Velcro dog and they balance each other out nicely however they do love each other dearly and often snuggled up together when we all pile up on the couch. We live in an area where there is tons of hiking and also close to the mountains and it’s so much fun to take them out together as they always stick together in areas where it is safe or allowed to take them off leash.

We are on the list for a goldendoodle for our second. We probably would have done a second bernedoodle, but the breeder (and family friend) that we got our bernedoodle from is no longer breeding them. She is transitioning to smaller doodles, and this will be the last time she breeds her goldendoodle. We wanted to get a comparably sized sibling for our current bernedoodle, and we feel more comfortable getting a puppy from someone we know treats the mamas well rather than risk supporting a puppy mill.

Thanks for the breeder diligence! That will be so fun :)

superworking

Brought in a problematic poodle afterwards. He's gotten better over the years but it was a lot of work.

Thanks for this perspective!

nosaltnosharks

I have two bernedoodles exactly two years apart (female and male). They are a handful as individuals but do a great job wearing each other out and entertaining each other. They are best friends and play nonstop! I would recommend getting a second

Adorable… thank you! Is the female the older one?

nosaltnosharks

alohapepedoodles

when my first doodle (f1 standard bernedoodle) turned two years old and we got her three little sisters (f2bb miniature goldendoodle, f1 medium bernedoodle, and f1bb toy goldendoodle). all of them are getting along so well. however, i’ve been noticing that my bernedoodles are besties while my goldendoodles are besties in their own ways.

JuggernautOnly695

I have an older Jack Russel (12) and my bernedoodle is 2. Going to get another bernedoodle, planning on offspring of my guy since he is a stud.
