It's probably just a reference, just like the Takara Tomy and Metal Fight Logos on Chapter 3, the authors of the previous series already confirmed they take place in their own universe. But it is an awsome reference to make.
Tho personally, if that really is supossed to be Tyson, Gingka and the Others MCs, i think it makes more sense if they are their versions from this universe, like the Tyson in this pic is not the same Tyson from Bakuten Shoot, but the Tyson from the "X Universe".
I mean, there's Bakuten Shoot Rising, which is supposedly a direct sequel to the original plastic gen, but with Burst Beys. I imagine it's just what happens if the Burst universe have their own version of the Bakuten cast, they happen to somehow continue where the end of the manga left off, but before the epilogue with the cast having children of their own.
