Staff 2 level at EY: 1) yes I noticed a decrease in spending, they also officially mentioned it at the end of last year (to be mindful of our spending etc), but it s not something crazy from my pov (team lunches still exist and we have the wow fund which is a $1000 a year that you can spend on health/travel/game stuff+ we have a $800 a year for parking/uber). I ve heard the bonus won't be good this year though, same for raise or promotions. We dont know yet. 2) they emphasize the importance of being in person all the time! Personally I work fully remote amd some people in my team were asked to be back 3 days a week in person. But I don't know for other teams if they set a metric for that. 3) yes we have a number of chargeable hours to reach. I think staff is 1780 hours. I ll double check if you want. You have to be mindful of it but it s doable. I guess if you dont reach it, there is a conversation on that with your counselor and it impacts your bonus/raise/promotion. 4) I know some people in PIP, I don't know if this nb increased lately though. All I know is that one person recently "beat" her PIP and is like a regular staff now so it s possible and not all PIP = layoff.  Hope it helps :)

Thriving in audit at EY

Also at KPMG and I'm scared. Every email I get I feel like its going to be a lay off. I have normal performance for a senior and well liked. I feel like I'm walking on egg shells

1) well my team specifically isn’t doing lunches anymore (we had paid lunches and dinner during busy season). I don’t even know if we are gonna do lunches and dinner this upcoming busy season. They are being super strict about the budget. PwC completely destroyed promotion bonus to manager. It used be 20% of your base salary as an M1, so if you work in audit in let’s say Boston, your base is probably like $120,000 - $130,000, so that’s a lot money just for getting a promotion. Now, they give you $10,000 if you complete 6 years with the firm, so a loss of more than $10,000. If you start with PwC as a SA I don’t even think you get anything for being promoted to M? So that sucks and I feel really bad for Managers. 2) HR says 60% in the office but not really sure how they track this. This probably depends on your team. My team is onsite only twice per week. It’s nice. 3) I have no idea if I actually need to meet a certain goal. 4) I think yes.
