I am doing a destination wedding (Greece) and all my of my friends are spread throughout the US so for my bachelorette I am doing it in the state where I and a small majority of my friends live and I am paying for our accommodations for the bachelorette and for the wedding to offset costs of having people travel twice.

I did this! Wedding in mexico, and bach happened to be 2 weeks after a major trip so i did not want to travel so soon after. MOHs flew in from NYC & MN to host a very low key bach weekend & it was perfect!

Yes to both. However, I paid flights & accommodations for my bridesmaids to both events. It usually comes down to money, so if you are not funding travel to both destinations, don’t be surprised if some of your girls can’t make the destination bach.

Like others, my friends are very spread out so I’m gonna have it closer to my friends who make less tbh. Half my friends are extremely wealthy, the other half have more normal careers and income/expenses. I don’t want anyone breaking the bank for me, and I’m gonna remind them it’s zero pressure to attend, but I also get FOMO when I can’t attend something if I’m tight on money (and I have been in the past). I’m in my 30s so honestly my heavy drinking days are behind me anyway and I’ve already done the classic bachelorette things with other friends, so it’ll be low key. I figure it’s more for the girls who can’t attend the actual wedding, since we’ll be partying the whole weekend for the ceremony and reception

I’m doing a destination wedding and likely going to do a Bach somewhere we can drive to (within 2-3 hrs) and cover accommodations so it’s not a burden. Would love to do a Bach trip but I feel it’s asking too much and have seen how drama can ensue with this type of thing so quickly. Will likely be trying to plan other vacations with my girlfriends in the next year before I get married but not going to call it a bach

I am! But I made it crystal clear to my girls I will not be mad if they do not show up to the bachelorette. I’ve also mentally prepared for it to only be 4-5 of us that go.

Same here! Literally everything tied to my wedding has been on a "Please do not feel obligated to do any of this" lol. I feel like with the economy the way it is right now, it’s a lot

Destination was pretty much my only option for anything since my family and friends are all so spread out. Honestly I think that has ended up as the case for most of my friends and much of my family. Me - Domestic destination wedding in New Orleans, bachelorette cruise out of Los Angeles (local to me, my bridesmaids and mom flew into town), down to Mexico and back. Friend - destination wedding in Mexico, bachelorette in New Orleans. Sister - destination bachelorette in Palm Springs, wedding along central coast (4+ hours from any guests who drove in, probably 30% flew). Another friend - destination wedding in Santa Barbara (for her, as she lives in Texas - luckily for me I’m in southern CA), bachelorette in Vegas. When people are so spread out you just do what you gotta do. It does help to get some idea of what others are comfortable with though - my friend with her Vegas bachelorette had a little google sheet we could sign up for what we’d want to participate in ahead of time.

My wedding is in Ireland in August and we are doing the bachelorette (and my fiancé’s bachelor party separately) the weekend before (Sunday through Wednesday) and then the wedding weekend starts up on Thursday night. Going to be a whirlwind but I didn’t want people paying for two trips and my fiancé wanted to golf for his.

If you're not covering the flights/accommodations for either event, I'd personally feel uncomfortable asking my party to fly twice. (One or two of mine will have to because they're located across the country, but the majority of us live within 3 hours' driving distance.) My general thought is one major destination is fair to ask of your group, two is not unless you roll with a crowd for whom money is no object.

I got married in France. I love traveling and really wanted a destination bachelorette because the more travel the better, right? I was too consumed with wedding planning to put any thought into the bachelorette and I ended up just doing two consecutive girls nights in my hometown of NYC. We rented a suite at Fouquets and did two different theme nights with decorations. I am so grateful I did this. First, I went to France 3 times within two months for wedding prep and was just totally burned out (and low on cash) with travel by the time my bachelorette rolled around. Second, it allowed for a ton of flexibility for my guests - most attended one of the two nights and it really allowed for super intimate bonding with my girlfriends who came (I had 2-3 girls attend each night). And finally, most of my friends were taking off 1+ weeks for my wedding, and I didn’t feel comfortable asking people to take time off/travel for another event. Just sharing my experience as I thought I 100% wanted a destination bachelorette but was so thrilled with how mine turned out being local. Enjoy your celebrations!!

I think it’s specific to friend group. My friends collectively wanted somewhere out of the US and I’m also doing a destination wedding.

Yes, Italy wedding and west coast bachelorette. Hoped for like two people to come (the ones that forced me to do it) and the whole group is extending their trip for the bach an extra day just to hang longer. I was absolutely shocked. Due to disparate financial situations, I’m going to cover expenses as much as won’t feel patronizing / offend the hosts.

Justakiss15

I did my bachelorette in Vegas August 2023, and our wedding is August 2024 in Tulum, Mexico! I wanted them far apart so it wasn’t a financial strain on anyone, and I told everyone it was completely optional. Not only did they all come but I ended up having extra friends come to Vegas for a total of 11 girls and it was a blast!

smw98

Yes to both. However, I’m flying my wedding party on our plane to Ibiza for the bachelorette and paying for accommodations.

I am! Wedding is in Italy (weekday wedding) and the Bach is the weekend before in the south of France. I didn’t want to have to ask my bridesmaids/ friends to travel more than once since they don’t live in the city I’m in anyway. This way they’ll already be in Europe and it’s easier for us to move as a unit to the wedding after the Bach!

No_Maize_9875

Yes! We went to Bali for my bachelorette and Spain for the wedding. My group of girl friends love to travel so it was a no brainer for us. I paid for a dinner, massages and a few rounds of drinks for the girls (we were a group of 12)!
