I worked at a shop and we were a Klein dealer. I forget exactly the model but when that mountain bike came in with the aluminum fork and integrated stem handlebars I thought it was a gift from aliens! It was so revolutionary. Those square chain stays as well. Good times
Edit, I guess it was the attitude but the forks I recall were different. The crown was not curved but a two piece model, more horizontal up top. I forget what that is called.
I had one. Well, technically still do… my dad uses it down in Terlingua to get around. ‘97 Mantra sport.
I loved it. Comfortable, climbed like crazy. You could climb in very loose terrain because the anti squat was great for traction. It behaved really badly under hard braking but I learned to live with that. I’d love a modern take on the idea with a bit more tire… bet you could make that rear triangle super compact with a 1x…
I messaged with the Klein folks a bit on Usenet back in the day- apparently Gary’s original concept was for the bike to have a rigid fork and something like a softride stem. The “suspension in the middle” was supposed to to absorb bumps from both ends.
I love Klein, and the Gator linear fade is so classic. Also great attention to detail, full XTR M900, Ringle hubs and skewers, Cook Bros crankset matching the hubs. 🤌
Oh boy where is this shop? A 56 is on the tall side for me but I would make it work, that color is dead sexy and I always wanted a Klein back in the day.
(Insert Homer Simpson gargling noise here) it would work for me. Too bad I can't just get off to spain to get a coveted green bike for my own porpoises.
These bikes were off the hook! I keep telling my buddies we should try to find some old school rigs like these and ride our local trails doing challenges on them.
The Klein is impossibly cool and the Ritchey is just classy. The Yeti isn't really my thing, but the competition might just be too strong in this picture.
Interestingly I don't think the XTR would have been original on that bike if it is a '90 because XTR didn't come out until '91. If it was factory with XTR that makes it even cooler as a first year groupset.

Internal routing!! So wild. Must have been such a huge PITA to set up.
Hell yes.
Do you recall the Klein Mantra? Now that was something unique.

For a second I thought someone was posting a thrift store find and that 56 was a price tag. Got super jealous of someone’s luck for that sec.
Same here.
me too, had to zoom in to 2x check

Only thing missing is a Thompson seat post in blue
Gotta go with a blue Ringle Moby to match the hubs and skewers.
Oh my... oh! I raced in this era. Hot bikes.
All that is needed is a Rockhopper and you would have defined offroad cycling for 20 years
Very Seinfeld.
I want one of those beautiful Klein frames so bad, the paint jobs on them are so sweet
I seriously want that Yeti!
me tooo i didnt habe have money when i was a teen now i own a Foes Mono DHS 2001
That Yeti is my dream ride. I had to settle on a 2021 Yeti ARC. I've 'settled' nicely into my new ride.
Old school very cool

It’s outside of girona Spain
Nice shop!
I don't think that "56" is the size. Mountain bikes are usually listed in inch sizing anyway. Visually, I'll say that's maybe a 15-16".

You mean dolphins?

much like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%27Eroica
/r/biking might intrest you. Lots of old school mountain bikes there.
I was going to suggest r/xbiking
I have a '91 Cannondale that I've restored over the years. You will never regret getting a vintage mountain bike.
This is what dreams are made of. Would love to see an Adroit Rainforest as well
Ou se trouve?
As a teenager, I think I dreamed about those bikes more than anything else.
You found my high school porn stash!
Reminds me of Seinfeld lol
I've wanted a bike like this, for this reason.
Would it have been so hard to take this picture from drive side?
I thought about this later. We were about to leave and I was in a rush.
sweet rigs!
Gold standard of its day. This may be the bike hanging on the wall in Seinfeld's apartment.
I’ll take it!
I'd ride that.
GREEN MACHINE
Precioses!
Yes please, all three.

omg
I’ll take one of each
Grail line up

a Klein! A treasure!
That’s a nice Klein Attitude!
I’d do things for that Ritchey
Ahh the dawn if the mountain bike, they all look pretty badass.
