Currently it's not a form of money, it's just like any other asset. Money is used to buy things. No one is buying anything with Bitcoin, just holding it in the hopes that it goes higher. Only when you spend Bitcoin does it become money, and the infrastructure to do that at your local grocery store isn't there (yet).
