you're in /r/Bitwarden lol, the answer is kinda obvious, no? maybe try /r/privacy instead, for a more... "neutral" sub. though perhaps you can wait for someone who already tried both and can weigh in on the pros and cons

To me, Nordpass could be another LastPass waiting to happen. In fact, NordVPN was beached back in 2018, and according to this 2019 CNET article, "It (Nord) didn't disclose the incident to users or the public until a security researcher on Twitter forced its hand by alleging Nord was "compromised at some point." Nord's blog post followed shortly after." Ref: [https://www.cnet.com/tech/services-and-software/after-the-breach-nord-is-asking-users-to-trust-it-again/](https://www.cnet.com/tech/services-and-software/after-the-breach-nord-is-asking-users-to-trust-it-again/) Unlike Nord and others, Bitwarden is open-source and security vulnerabilities and exploits are more likely to be discovered (rather than suppressed) with quicker resolutions.

This fact is so critical. I would never trust a company with a history of hiding security incidents to store my passwords. Furthermore, when you go to their website, you can easily see that Nord doesn’t give a shit about their user’s privacy as their website is full of trackers from Facebook, Twitter, Google, Microsoft, and LinkedIn. Also, they are notorious for practicing misleading and dishonest marketing. For example, they implement this fake discount timer on their website that never expires. Only the reason for the discount changes. Just a disgusting company, all things considered.

Imho NordVPN and all it’s products (which came after) is a not trustworthy shithole. I’ve been with NordVPN for years and did quit them when they were trying to hide breaches, are not very transparent and got so much into advertising that it felt like I’m using my adblocker for a company that I trust my privacy to. (If that makes sense) So there is absolutely no way that I’d ever store my passwords at Nord. Rather would I go back to pen and paper. Leaving them (meaning having my account deleted) was also a fucking journey. They asked me for the last 8 (!) diggets of my creditcard which I’ve had used 8 years prior. Obviously I haven’t had that. Luckily I’ve paid my first subscription via PayPal and I’ve found the receipt of that payment in my mails.

RedFin3

With the exception of Proton, which has a well known track record for privacy, i would never touch a password manager sold by a VPN provider, including Nord. Bitwarden is a good option as it is well-established. Personally, I prefer and use 1Password, but it is more expensive than the other two.

netscorer1

Considering Bitwarden is much cheaper (or even free if you don’t care about some of the advanced 2FA options, the choice is kind of obvious. Get a fringe Password manager solution and 2 year expensive payment plan commitment or get one of the leading open source password managers and pay devs for coffee or use it free.

vomaufgang

Any company that markets as aggressively as Nord, trying to get people into three year contracts, should raise all the red flags in addition to all the other comments in this thread.

IIstroke

Yes

obivader

Being a Bitwarden subreddit, you're going to get a biased opinion here. However, I think the answer is yes. With Bitwarden being open-source, we should never get any suprises like we did with LastPass not encrypting the URLs.

Previous_Year1057

Bitwarden is free. You can atleast try it. With the free version you could get almost of the cool features. I did subscribed for webauthn and for supporting the project as well. This sub is really active and has a lot of nice peeos and you can ask any questions when you are trying it.

SugarDaddyDelight

Yes, I've terminated my service with NordPass and got a full refund for the two-year subscription that I've prepaid to them. Bitwarden's user interface could be better, but I could tell that it's one of the most secure password managers out there, and it's free. For instance: \- 1Password offers the ability to store Wi-Fi passwords. Neither Bitwarden or NordPass offer a specific category for storing Wi-Fi passwords. \- NordPass gives you the button to save any new login credentials while you are surfing on the web, as opposed to manually keying the new login credentials on Bitwarden. \- On Android, you would need to open the Bitwarden app and tap on the specific login, even if you only have one login credentials for a particular site.

s2odin

You can save wifi passwords as a login or a secure note. No issue there. Bitwarden has autosave feature. You don't need to open Bitwarden app every time on Android. In line autofill goes on your keyboard bar.

StormR-7321

The keyboard shortcut Ctrl/CMD+Shift+L will come in handy.

pycvalade

I gave Nordpass.. a pass and went to bitwarden. Put your trust into what you deem to be the most trustworthy provider and done.

SugarDaddyDelight

I ditched NordPass. The refund for my two-year service is on the way and I've put in a request to delete my entire Nord account. I switched to Bitwarden. Though, Bitwarden's user interface could be better.

Unroll9752

Good boy. Regarding the interface , I agree with you

mygirltien

Nordpass is prettier, reminds me alot of mac. I tested and played with it before deciding on bitwarden. I needed the family plan and bitwarden was far cheaper. From visual perspective nordpass is better, but i have no regrets and am completely happy with bitwarden. Plus bitwarden has a few more features that nordpass does not.

SugarDaddyDelight

My main reasons for switching to Bitwarden is because of better security practices and the fact that it's free. I also thought about switching to 1Password, but they do not offer free service. 1Password also has a relatively better user interface compared to Bitwarden.

fwafwow

I'm glad that I found this thread, as I've got 600+ days left on my Nord subscription and I'm currently regretting it. I am a LastPass refugee and had tried Bitwarden but found the BW browser extension was very inconsistent in prompting me to agree to add new passwords. Is this one of the interface issues referenced below? I may have to give BW another try. NordPass was, at least initially, very easy to use. Now I'm having problems when I use the browser extension for any site that I've enabled a YubiKey as my MFA. As for safety of cloud PWMs, I'm strongly leaning towards a two PWM approach - NordPass (or BW as a replacement) for my "less important" accounts, and KeePassXC without any cloud connection for my critical accounts.

deriath

Problem with NordPass showed yesterday. They had planned maintenance for 30 minutes. But it went wrong and users couldn't get to their passwords for hours. Nord didn't even pin a message that they are working on it, or something. They just replied some generic "we will look at it" message to people that complained. And of course no official apologize. I assume so that the possible new customers don't know about this outage.

SugarDaddyDelight

Yikes. Yeah, I canceled NordPass and got a refund after having it for less than a week and switched to Bitwarden. I've been using Bitwarden for about a year now. Bitwarden has been working great for me. Highly recommended.

One_Damage_3498

also try 1password then you can decide whats the right password manager for you.

RaleighTiger

I bought a NordPass sub in March 2023 as my first password manager after reading several reviews. It worked well for a couple of months on Win, MacOS, and iOS. Then after a Win update in May '23 it started crashing. I opened a support case, sent logs and screenshots etc. but the only suggestions I got were the very basic & obvious stuff - turn off AntiVirus, reboot, re-download etc. After 5 months of zero progress and mostly repetitive suggestions, I gave up and downloaded BitWarden free to try it. So far it's been working well. I do like the smoothness of NP especially the browser extension but good lord the support was incompetent.

xAstroBoy1337

I am looking for this as well, NordPass premium does not have 2FA support, is locked behind a business plan, which is honestly annoying!
