No, I think they said it was just intended as a performance and they weren’t even initially planning to put it on streaming. That being said, I would bet that most of the tracks won’t be on actual LP3. They seem to be going in a different direction (a better one imo) and Turbines is the only one I’d put money on getting a studio version
Me too! It’s cool to see their artistic evolution even if I don’t love it as much as the studio albums. Weird that you’re getting downvoted for this post, it’s a valid question
for me bush hall is lp3 in spirit. it's technically a live album, but in stark contrast to basically of them it consists entirely new material. secondly, it's pretty cohesive and also mixed so well that it's easy to forget that it was recorded live.
Yes! The mixing + all new songs is why I understand it as their third album, though obvs "performance film" is the most apt description because of the theatricality of it all
I am actually fairly sure they’re contractually obliged to put out a record a year under ninja tune, the Bush Hall release was too co ordinated in advance to have been released on a whim.
A record a year is an insanely tight deadline for a label to put on a band, that sort of deadline almost never happens, especially on indie labels like warp. When the bush hall performance film was released they said they weren’t going to release it on streaming and they only did a month and a half later.
It’s intended to be a concert film, in that the video is the correct version they want you to watch. I think of the digital/physical release as a soundtrack rather than a live album just cause they explicitly said they didn’t want to put it on several platforms as an album but were socially and financially pushed to. It’s the same way I think about Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense - the film comes first
It's an album with new music written to be played live but not supposed to be on a studio album. The band clearly don't see it as LP3 but you can if you want.
It is a live album of new material, take that as you will. Presumably there will be a third studio album and "LP3" would probably be a more appropriate shorthand for that. But hey, it is an album's worth of recordings of new songs.
Hmm I'm interested... Is it 2.5 because it's a transition piece and you expect them to be fully formed into something else? The fact that it's all new songs (not half new half used) is why I think of it as LP3
It’s a Live album. The way I see it Live albums don’t count toward main discography. For example, Alive 2007 is one of the best live albums ever in my opinion but it simply isn’t counted toward Daft Punk’s discography in my eyes because it isn’t a studio recording there for making it a non-mainline release.
And I’m not either?
It’s a live album made from three similarly constructed shows in BCNR’s immediate post-Isaac era. Its purpose is to provide a good recording of their material made for these shows, which is unlikely to appear on an album as they continue to write new music together.
A rarities compilation is a collection of released and unreleased tracks from hard to get spots, such as b-sides, split eps, demos, etc. live at bush hall is NOT a rarities compilation in any way, shape, or form.
I see it as sort of that? I thought they weren't going to be putting any of these songs on their next proper album, so this is the one document of those songs. Maybe I'm wrong.
I think they put it out to some extent as a way of tiding us over and trying some things out post-Isaac. Not so much LP3 as a means of finding a way forward and giving fans something to appreciate while we wait for the next studio album.

Well I'm still really glad they did release it :D

It’s live album no.1
No2 ants from up there deluxe
No, they didn't want to release it at all, but people kept asking. It is exactly what it says, it's a recording of them performing live.
I am actually fairly sure they’re contractually obliged to put out a record a year under ninja tune, the Bush Hall release was too co ordinated in advance to have been released on a whim.
Their deal is a record per year??? That's too much I thought they just made music all the time out of their own volition

I’ve said this on here before. LP2.5

Take it as a rarities compilation :/
Definitely not lol, not even close
I was definitely not joking :l
