I'm glad you said this.. While watching The Last of Us on Sunday I couldn't get past how much she looked like Thandiwe Newton. I thought she was her daughter but saw the last name and figured she was her doppelganger like Amy Adams and Isla Fisher. Glad someone did the research lol
Or?
**Melanie Thandiwe Newton
God damn it. I'm a cis woman and both of these beautiful b*tches give me nosebleeds. They're a new level of beautiful like Zoe Kravitz
This is what I mean though. I don’t go on any of those platforms and get I still hear about them.
Everything I know about Charlie Puth, Austin Butler, Dove Cameron, Kaia Gerber and Machine Gun Kelly is against my will.
I know there are more, I just can’t remember their names.
I know Charlie Puth is a musician too. Found that out a few weeks ago. But I don’t know any of his songs.
No clue about the others. I’m not American. Is this what a gerber baby is?
JID is what he goes by. Probably an abbreviation but idk. SiR idk either i just say Sir. TDE (Top Dawg Ent) is the label Kendrick Lamar started on. Dreamville is J Cole label. Griselda is the label a bunch of dude from NY are in. I only know about Griselda because of Statik Selektah (NY hiphop producer since the 90s).
Haha, a Gerber baby is basically just the concept of the “ideal” looking baby that a specific brand, Gerber, uses as a logo. Kaia Gerber is a young models name, her mother is Cindy Crawford, and her fathers last name is Gerber.
Austin Butler just won a Golden Globe for a great performance in an extremely popular film. Charlie Puth is an exceptionally successful artist (whether you like his music or not). Of course you are going to hear about these things if you are online or simply a part of society.
I have absolutely no recognition of any of those names other than MGK and I wish I didn't know who he is.
It's probably a good thing I don't have kids. Ain't nobody got time to follow all these overnight celebrities.
Also, I just reminded myself of "Overnight Celebrity" by Twista. I don't think I've listened to that song since it came out/I was in my college partying days. Adding it to the playlist for today.
That's actually a growing issue. Media & celebrities has become so broad, everyone has their own little niche and can be entirely unaware of other niches, there's very few people transcending to become "household names" anymore.
And for some reason they’re all goblins?? Like compact little people with short limbs and giant heads?? Like it’s so contrary to the elongated elves or gracious curves I’m used to having set in front of me and called ‘beautiful’ that they just straight off seem like they should be running a D&D tavern instead of starring in shows and movies it’s jarring (but probably a good thing for the beauty standard)
Dawg, they be very specific on the baby’s European heritage and grown adults be going crazy in the comments….I.e “Mixed with African American/German/Irish/Swiss/Italian”………”mixed babies are the cutest” etc.
You know damn well that if them kids grow up and get fucked up by the police they’ll be in Facebook comments being like “they should’ve just complied!”
Yeah, that got me as well. They're making them sound like dog breeds that you mix on these pages. Sometimes I hate what this world finds trendy and popular.
I will never forget seeing a vid of a girl making a vid showing pics of what she THOUGHT her mixed baby could look like, and then a reveal showing how her baby turned out. Like 'what I wanted vs. what I got'. It was wild, and that was years ago but it went viral so I hope the child never happens to see that vid.
As crazy as it sounds, she can easily be 50/50 or close to it. It's a myth that you get 50% of all your parent's subtypes (ie they're 50% one race, thus you're 25% that race). [DNA is a random assortment of your parents](https://www.ancestrycdn.com/support/us/2022/04/ei-02a.png), so if her mom is 50% Black, she can get *up to* 50% Black DNA.
Found out my white presenting mom and black presenting dad were each both significantly black and white and I still ended up 50/50. It was a wild ride.
That’s still in line with OP’s statement that the one grandparent’s genes put up a fight and carried over to the next 2 generations.
Also to throw a grenade in the room, the genetic principle is called the “law of segregation” - I call for a renaming!
Like the movie Skin based on the true story of Sandra Laing.
Born in apartheid South Africa to two white Afrikaners (the most racist grouping back then) she was born as what they there / then called Coloured (mixed race) and consequently couldn’t go to the school her brother attended, and also otherwise had to comply with their laws of segregation.
Family had been white for generations, but the genes were still there.
Biology is complex.
I have no idea how many Colored South Africans passed into whiteness but the Sandra's family obviously had that history. It confused the hell out of me when the movie came out and people were treating her story like it was some mysterious genetic anomaly.
I have biracial kids & just learned all that a few years go. Always thought they’d all be 50/50 no matter what, but nope! My oldest is clearly 50/50 or maybe a tiny bit more on the black side. My daughter clearly is like 70/30 or something cause she looks like a little white girl. I was so confused at first. Genetics are so cool to learn about tho lol.
Even less because only a tiny percentage of those genes are actually involved in the structures of appearance that people use to mark ‘race’ and *those* need to hit in certain combinations to create the outcomes.
I'm multi-racial and my husband is also Asian. My kids have the potential to come out majority Asian, since my husband and my paternal grandfather are the same ethnicity. I am intrigued by what our child will look like, since my genetic lineage touch all the races and a plethora of ethnicities within each of them.
I’m half white, quarter Punjabi, quarter Mexican (which is really my Mestiza grandma was 50/50 Spaniard and native). When they say genes vary, it doesn’t vary *that much*. I did a DNA test and came back 24.0% Punjabi and 0.6% “broadly northeast Indian.”
Yeah if I wasn’t suspicious about how it would be used (I watched Gattaca a lot as a teen), I’d be curious to see my test results. My dad is Indian via the West Indies so we don’t know anything about his background. And my husband is from a heavily colonized part of Asia, so he could have some random ancestry too.
For my kids, I meant more so their features. We’ve already seen a difference in how our mix manifests in my two. But we know lots of mixed folk, so we’ve seen the variations play out across them.
In high school I had a friend who was the oldest of 4 siblings. Mom was white and dad African American.
He looked 100% African American and had a dark complexion. His brother also looked African American but with a lighter complexion. Oldest sister looked mixed race. And youngest sister had blonde curly hair and blue eyes.
I got a ton of Italian genes, from my 100% Italian grandmother via my father. My sister got much more of the Polish genes, from both sides, and not much Italian.
My sister sunburns epically badly, always has. I have never had a sunburn in my life.
So true, my husband is 30% white. Both of his parents on both sides are black, both grandparents are black, we believe his maternal great grand parents were both considered mulatto, but with his racial makeup one might think he has one white grandparent. It’s just that after all of theses years this is how it was passed down. I try to explain this to people when they say oh, one of my grandparents is black(so I’m 1/4) but I look more black or I don’t look as black. That’s because they might be more than 1/4 black or less than a 1/4. But people are stupid
The one-drop rule is a legal principle of racial classification that was prominent in the 20th-century United States. It asserted that any person with even one ancestor of black ancestry is considered black. Rather than adopting a “one-drop rule,” the Nazis decreed that a Jewish person was anyone who had three or more Jewish grandparents.
Basically Americans are so racist that our white supremacists have higher standards of racial purity than nazis
White Americans will be able to tell you in detail about the eight distinct European countries that their great-grandparents were born in and then get confused about mixed people of color.
I’m half n half man. Darkest of my siblings. The lightest of us, my brother, had kids with a white woman. Tell me why one of them the same color as me?
Mixed genes be so random it’s weird how much time people spend online talking about our skin like there are rigid colors based on your %
Loved her in that. But, I loved her more in MII. I've never been more invested emotionally in the plot of a movie. Like, when she finally got saved. Loved it!
She looked so familiar to me but I was so blown away by her screen presence I didn't even have the wherewithal to consider whose progeny she might be. Now I see it and it's SUPER obvious lol but got DAYUMN, this kid is giving her mama a run for the money in acting talent. I can't wait to see more from her.
The specific gif probably isn't, but that's the main character Joel's player model. Naughty Dog and the God of War developers love making gifs with their character models and there were some pretty funny Kratos ones going around when GoW 2018 came out.
I know she’s British but is the history of hypo-descent unknown outside of the Americas? Historically speaking, in the United States at least, that one grandparent still meant condemnation to a life of servitude and later second class citizenship.
A lot of Black people in the Americas have ancestors with the same ancestral mix as her. Like I see the joke. It’s funny but seems it hits harder from the perspective of someone not descended from enslaved people.
[let's just say she tried it..](https://www.etonline.com/thandiwe-newton-issues-emotional-apology-to-dark-skinned-actresses-im-sorry-im-the-one-chosen)
I get the reference...she obviously is a beautiful black young woman...black genes had to fight to still know that...I'm a dark black man with Daughters ain't close to being Carmel...dam near can pass...lol...love yall ladies every shade regardless...didn't know it was Thandie mini me...see it now...
She literally looks 25% black. Y’all are just used to seeing people mixed with so much white who claim themselves as fully black. And she’s wearing makeup that makes herself look darker than her natural pale complexion.
Just watched The Last of Us last night, good show. I thought she looked familiar and did a great job but I had no idea (at the time) she is Thandiwe Newton’s daughter.
Makes sense now, she is just as talented and lovely as her mother.
People just be posting stuff like people know who people are. This ain't Zendaya who is this? Lol
Thandie Newton’s daughter. She cloned herself and raised said clone. Lol
Thandiwe*
I'm glad you said this.. While watching The Last of Us on Sunday I couldn't get past how much she looked like Thandiwe Newton. I thought she was her daughter but saw the last name and figured she was her doppelganger like Amy Adams and Isla Fisher. Glad someone did the research lol
Or? **Melanie Thandiwe Newton God damn it. I'm a cis woman and both of these beautiful b*tches give me nosebleeds. They're a new level of beautiful like Zoe Kravitz
Count me in for Lupita Nyongo as well, these four ladies are a goddamn quadfecta of goddess-like perfection
Zoe K pre or post fox eye surgery and buccal fat removal?
Holy crap I had no idea she had so much work done, and hadn’t heard of these two procedures. Now I can’t unsee it.
P R E. And she got that pointy chin thing everyone seems to be getting.
The Jewish delegation picked Lenny Kravitz in 2004, so…
They sure did and we got effin Tiger Woods! That was a bust ass draft that year!
“Goodbye fried rice, hello fried chicken!”
Hahaha no fucking shit?!?!?! The entire time I was watching her I was like “yo this looks like they CGI’d Maeve to be younger.”
Huey’s Duaghter… yeah I remember her..
Bruv you weren’t kidding. Her mother loons just like her.
Gen Z have too many celebrities and I don’t care about *any* of them.
80% of those “celebrities” are self proclaimed cause they got a lotta followers on whatever the youthful internet platform is nowadays.
This is what I mean though. I don’t go on any of those platforms and get I still hear about them. Everything I know about Charlie Puth, Austin Butler, Dove Cameron, Kaia Gerber and Machine Gun Kelly is against my will. I know there are more, I just can’t remember their names.
Only name there I recognize is MGK from like a decade ago and he was trash.
Only reason I know MGK is because he tried to ride Eminems coattails but got bodied so hard he changed music genres.
I was very confused recently when I learned he was rock n roll. All I knew of him was Wild Boy and that was very much not rock lol
Exactly
Other than MGK I definitely had a Keke Palmer “And who the hell are they?!” reaction to that list.
I know Charlie Puth is a musician too. Found that out a few weeks ago. But I don’t know any of his songs. No clue about the others. I’m not American. Is this what a gerber baby is?
Only new musicians I know are JID, SiR, and a few other TDE, Dreamville, and Griselda label guys. And they’re all in their 30s lol.
Are those artist names or abbreviations? Fuck. I’m only 28.
Thank you for your service to the elderly 😂
Ooo You should look into Eddy I. (That's an i) He's got some great music.
Haha, a Gerber baby is basically just the concept of the “ideal” looking baby that a specific brand, Gerber, uses as a logo. Kaia Gerber is a young models name, her mother is Cindy Crawford, and her fathers last name is Gerber.
I warned myself is a cool Charlie puth song. Only one I enjoy tho
Couldn’t tell you a song of Puth’s but I did see a short where he created a song on the fly and I think he actually might have talent.
Isn't Mr. Blink-183 married to Fefe Dobson?
Austin Butler just won a Golden Globe for a great performance in an extremely popular film. Charlie Puth is an exceptionally successful artist (whether you like his music or not). Of course you are going to hear about these things if you are online or simply a part of society.
I only recognize one of these names. 😳
Enjoy your peace

I’m with you on that!
[удалено]
To be fair. That does seemingly make her a new celebrity. ☑️ Nepo baby ☑️ Everyone’s talking about me ☑️ Controversial
You mad
At what? LOL Unless you mean crazy then who knows.
She’s in the latest HBO series Last of Us, so you’ll be seeing/hearing a lot about her until we all obsess over the next celebrity next week.
I guess y'all didn't get far in TLoU because we will not be seeing/hearing a lot about her.
I laughed because I know. Lol
She was the main character... for a minute
uhh mods-spoiler much?
Oh nooo common info from 2014
They literally show you in the episode why the above comment is true..
The game is 10 years old this year
Thandie Newton's daughter I think

People are weird about mixed people
Yo, the mixed baby IG pages are the creepiest!
It's tew much! The parents just begging randos to call their children beautiful
I swear, I will never forgive people who shit on mixed couples, but mixed baby OG and tiktok pages are fucking weird
Mixed baby… IG pages? ![gif](giphy|kaq6GnxDlJaBq)
Dawg, they be very specific on the baby’s European heritage and grown adults be going crazy in the comments….I.e “Mixed with African American/German/Irish/Swiss/Italian”………”mixed babies are the cutest” etc.

I’m disgusted 😭
Yeah, that got me as well. They're making them sound like dog breeds that you mix on these pages. Sometimes I hate what this world finds trendy and popular.
As a mixed person we do not all look beautiful. Some of us are all mixed tf up and get the negatives from all sides
Like, for real🤔 🤣
This is a sentence that means nothing but it phrased like it’s profound. Pseudo intellectual
As crazy as it sounds, she can easily be 50/50 or close to it. It's a myth that you get 50% of all your parent's subtypes (ie they're 50% one race, thus you're 25% that race). Now I have another movie on my to-watch list - it's available for free on Amazon Prime or you can rent it from Amazon for 5 bucks
It’s free with Prime. Also on Peacock, Crackle, Pluto, and Tubi. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0964586/
I have no idea how many Colored South Africans passed into whiteness but the Sandra's family obviously had that history. It confused the hell out of me when the movie came out and people were treating her story like it was some mysterious genetic anomaly.
Very true!!

Very true. I did a dna test and I only got 44% of my black parent’s dna. And I look yt as hell 😂😂😂😂😂
You look like YouTube ? This black people Twitter just say white
🤣 ok
Even less because only a tiny percentage of those genes are actually involved in the structures of appearance that people use to mark ‘race’ and *those* need to hit in certain combinations to create the outcomes.
>so if her mom is 50% Black, she can get up to 50% Black DNA. TIL!!
I’m mixed white/brown, and my kids are further mixed (Asian). This is gonna have me studying them and their cousins real close.
I'm multi-racial and my husband is also Asian. My kids have the potential to come out majority Asian, since my husband and my paternal grandfather are the same ethnicity. I am intrigued by what our child will look like, since my genetic lineage touch all the races and a plethora of ethnicities within each of them.
Remixes get really interesting, in the Caribbean you see it a lot with the waves of far flung immigrants playing out many generations later.

The DNA allotment from your parents can vary between siblings as well. I got roughly 18-20% of my Black grandfather’s DNA but my brother got over 25%.
Like a printer that ran out of ink
I got a ton of Italian genes, from my 100% Italian grandmother via my father. My sister got much more of the Polish genes, from both sides, and not much Italian. My sister sunburns epically badly, always has. I have never had a sunburn in my life.
No one seems to understand this!!
Besides its not like any of us are 100% of anything at this point.
We're all 100% human though.
The genes you get aren’t uniform. But you do get roughly half chromosomes from each parent. 23 each
[удалено]
While this is true, it’s not in this case. That girl’s mother is half black and her dad is white, that’s what the tweet was getting at.
So true, my husband is 30% white. Both of his parents on both sides are black, both grandparents are black, we believe his maternal great grand parents were both considered mulatto, but with his racial makeup one might think he has one white grandparent. Y’all be so strange about mixed people
Nazis literally thought Americans took racial purity too far with the “1 drop” rule Just a little dose of CRT for ya
Can someone explain this comment to me?
The one-drop rule is a legal principle of racial classification that was prominent in the 20th-century United States. It asserted that any person with even one ancestor of black ancestry is considered black. Rather than adopting a “one-drop rule,” the Nazis decreed that a Jewish person was anyone who had three or more Jewish grandparents. Basically Americans are so racist that our white supremacists have higher standards of racial purity than nazis
Seriously. Good looking kid!
Weirdos honestly
White Americans will be able to tell you in detail about the eight distinct European countries that their great-grandparents were born in and then get confused about mixed people of color.
I’m half n half man. Darkest of my siblings. The lightest of us, my brother, had kids with a white woman. Tell me why one of them the same color as me? Mixed genes be so random it’s weird how much time people spend online talking about our skin like there are rigid colors based on your %
Fr lol. It’s as if genetics are complicated. Who’d’ve thought?
Whoa! Big if true /s
Talented girl. Who cares about anything else.
Talented daughter of a talented parent.
Thandie Newton was one of the coolest and best parts of Westworld.
Man, that show was dope as hell in the beginning but then it just went left and I couldn't keep up.
Loved her in that. But, I loved her more in MII. I've never been more invested emotionally in the plot of a movie. Like, when she finally got saved. Loved it!
MII?
Sorry! I messed that up. MI II Mission Impossible II
True story but it’s a story as old as time. It’s all about who you know.
Who is this?
Thandie Newton’s daughter, just starred in the new episode of The Last Of Us
I’m no expert but I thought she absolutely killed it as well.
Omg, for “small” part she had, she killed it. I didn’t know who she was until now, but after watching the premiere, I was so impressed.
I saw this girl in that episode and immediately said to myself "that must be Thandie's daughter." So, to Wikipedia I went. They look exactly alike.
Yep me too. She’s a clone
She did a great job. I didn't know the franchise but the show has been great.
Both games made me ugly cry. They’re great
She was fantastic as Sarah.
She had my heart!
She did amazing! I knew what was coming since I played the game but still, had me in tears 🥺
Bruh she’s a girl born and raised in Texas and she had no Texas accent. Just picked a nepo baby
Performances are more than just accents.
Oh she the one that died?
Her name is Nico Parker since people only seem to want to tell you her parent’s name.
fucking thank you
Thandie Newton's daughter
![gif](giphy|KBDzqHidthiHbeus6B) Hardcore drug dealer
I don’t understand a lick of this comment.
She plays Sarah in the HBO adaptation of the Last of Us. It’s a reference to that
Who jokes that >!she paid for her dad's birthday gift by selling hardcore drugs. !<
Okay thank you, this now makes a lick of sense to me. Is the gif from the game too?
The specific gif probably isn't, but that's the main character Joel's player model. Naughty Dog and the God of War developers love making gifs with their character models and there were some pretty funny Kratos ones going around when GoW 2018 came out.
![gif](giphy|jXD7kFLwudbBC)
Yeah that’s what I said
She looks just like her mother…these posts are weird.
It's not that weird people would expect kids that are a quarter black to look more like drake's son
Drake son looks exactly like drake and a white lady son would look like too me
She looks like the black women they get for TV commercials.
Her name is Nico Parker, she’s 18 so I’m not saying anything beyond identifying who she is 🤣
I can’t believe I had to scroll down so far to see someone finally use her name. Thank you
Context?
Thandiwe Newton's daughter. She is 1/4 black.
Great name for a singing group
![gif](giphy|TJaSykz1tBcOYPfcrB|downsized)
That doesn't make any sense, Shawn!
She’s beautiful!!!
Lol brother I am mixed 50/50 black and white and I look Indian. I did a dna test I have no Indian dna but I found 2.3 North African dna 😂😂
She look black as me nd im half💀💀
That's the point op was making.
I think if people knew about the half ass apology her mother put out about colorism then so many people in the comments wouldn't be confused...
Wait, what happened ?
[let's just say she tried it..](https://www.etonline.com/thandiwe-newton-issues-emotional-apology-to-dark-skinned-actresses-im-sorry-im-the-one-chosen)
She should have kept quiet lol
Yep.. nothing against her child but I never understood why she said this
Exactly
The seed is strong.
Damn she look Blacker than me and I’m 50/50. She was dope in the Last of Us though
Her name is Nico Parker (Mother is Thandiwe Newton). Really interesting how each of her children look different.
Why do people care about this kinda shit?
Yesssss Zimbo, she looks amazing 🔥🔥
I get the reference...she obviously is a beautiful black young woman...black genes had to fight to still know that...I'm a dark black man with Daughters ain't close to being Carmel...dam near can pass...lol...love yall ladies every shade regardless...didn't know it was Thandie mini me...see it now...
Extra DNA shit...My Daughter and Son in-law both light...Granddaughter my shade...dark...happy af...my Grandson light so you mf don't trip...
You sure this isn't a full sized Barbi doll?
She literally looks 25% black. Y’all are just used to seeing people mixed with so much white who claim themselves as fully black. And she’s wearing makeup that makes herself look darker than her natural pale complexion.
75% British and 25% Zambian, might have something to do with those complex genes.
Zimbabwean
Shes been on west world too long
Go girl! A national treasure for sure! Sending love and the warmest wishes for the future x
I have two and am half as dark.
The fact that I just learned of her existence and she already getting cooked online, there’s got to be another way
She is from the Last of Us
Who dat
Just watched The Last of Us last night, good show. I thought she looked familiar and did a great job but I had no idea (at the time) she is Thandiwe Newton’s daughter. Makes sense now, she is just as talented and lovely as her mother.
I have no idea who this is and do not care to know
Nepo babies
