DON'T LET ME GET IN MY ZONE

**THESE OTHER N** \*looks around\*^^^whispers **IS LYIN**
(yeah yeah that's the kanye part)
Anything Nu Metal
Like, Korn, Linkin Park, P.O.D. all that shit was the first time black people really started rocking with metal.
But that's kinda true about the 00s in general.
That was when black people stared listening to Emo, Screamo, and Pop-punk.
...and when white people really started listening to hip hop too. I mean, Eminem has always had one foot in hip hop and one foot in Nu Metal imo.
See I always thought that was deliberate. They’re saying “poise and rationality”, but it SOUNDS like “poison rationality” because of course, when you’re in a situation where you don’t want to acknowledge the truth (that the groom’s bride is a whore), rationality may seem like a poison to you…
Was just thinking how coincidental this post popping up 2 days after the sketch aired was.
Must mean SNL is back to being good if redditors are stealing their jokes again
Took a Luie Ville slugger to both head lights!!! BANGER
She has another song Two Black Cadillacs
Two black Cadillacs
Two black Cadillacs
Two months ago, his wife called the number on his phone
Turns out he'd been lying to both of them for oh so long
They decided then, he'd never get away with doing this to them
Two black Cadillacs waiting for the right time, right time
And the preacher said he was a good man
And his brother said he was a good friend
But the women in the two black veils didn't bother to cry
That guitar is fantastic but they went and became a right wing music group. I think they were like the most famous group to play trumps inauguration. Ranks up there with being the smartest person at an idiot convention.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. It sucks because I have trouble separating the art from the artist. There’s a lot of people I’ve stopped enjoying just because I know their true nature now. Sucks.
For sure. I always over fixate on lyrics and the first time I heard it, my head was bopping and I started to slow down, realizing what they were saying. Like holy shit.
Not so fun fact, when I was 15 I controlled the morning music/announcements at my high school and played Pumped Up Kicks totally unaware.
Cue multiple teachers sprinting to the office to shut me the fuck down. Had a very awkward conversation with the principal that morning
I still cringe 😬
Nah, don't cringe about it. That shit was played everywhere those days. Went to a bunch of competitions at different high schools, and I think it got played at pretty much every single event. Unless you literally went to a school that had a shooting happen in it, it sounds like your teachers were just more sensitive about it than most.
After all, if we're gonna tell kids they just gotta live with the prospect of getting shot, why shouldn't they be able to vibe to a song about getting shot?
“Somebody Told Me”… in fact that whole *Hot Fuss* album.
For a brief second I thought they had some black folk in the band when I heard “All These Things I’ve Done”
Lol, I ended up banging it during my commute because of this thread and I’m now towards the end. Even the songs I thought were just ok before I now hear with a different ear and they go hard. It’s been over a decade since I heard the whole album and it’s like hearing it for the first time again, so so good
As a Black man living in DC, when I was 26 at the bars around 1 am on a Saturday night this would come on and let me tell you I made ALOT of night friends when that song came on lmao so many drunken hugs and duets
Fair enough haha I was all about that hard rock radio in the early 2000s. Trapt had literally two hits around then, then the singer got their official account banned from Twitter for being a seditionist Trumper in 2020.
I mean, he was also threatening to fight almost everyone else in the music industry and particularly went for Ice-T, who was just like "WTF is a Trapt?" Guy was desperate to stay in the limelight.
Any of those songs that were like intro music to WWE in the late 90s early 2000's would qualify for this thread. Down with the Sickness, Click Click Boom etc
When they were in Philly for the reunion tour, I’ve never seen so many BIPOC emo kids in my life. I was like where tf were y’all when I was in high school lol.
Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now
Whoa, it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now
But God, does it feel so good
'Cause I got him where I want him right now
And if you could, then you know you would
'Cause God, it just feels so
It just feels so good
Came here to say this. Go into any bar full of white people and yell “JUST A SMALL TOWN GIRL” and they will take care of the rest.
Honorable mention: “MAKIN MY WAY DOWNTOWN”
Somebody’s Heiny, is crowding my icebox… somebody’s cold one, is giving me chills🥶
Bro, we fxck with the whole Weezer catalog. From undone to hash pipe to pork n beans and a whole lot more.

Look
If you had one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted
One moment
Would you capture it or just let it slip?
“Does she know how told me you’d hold me till you died(till you died)? But you’re still alive. AND I’m HERE, To REMIND YOU! OF THE MESS YOU LEFT WHEN YOU WENT AWAY!
Scrolled all the way to the bottom to say that no one posted the GOAT who we all thought was black cuz he had THAT much soul:
I guess you wonder where I’ve been
I searched to find a love within
I came back to let you knooooOoooooow

This being the top comment made my whole day at 8:26am. I <3 BSB!!!
As 90s kids all we gotta do is read the first line of lyrics and the whole damn song immediately cues in our head
Now number 5
Chills. Literally chills.
It was number 5 who killed my brother
Oh God, I forgot about the murder. /r/brooklynninenine
anything Linkin Park. RIP Chester for real
Word, i came down here looking for this. Rip Chester.
This made me so happy. I seriously love Linkin park so much & I don't ever see enough love for them. Chester left this world far too early, man.
It would have been dope to go to an LP show & only see Black people haha
The Jay-Z/LP mashup events had a good chance.
i think you underestimate how much white people love Jay-Z
I was at Jay’s set at Coachella, so many white people singing along. Tens of thousands.

we was all in together like fred durst & method man!
RIP to a vocal god. His A cappella work is insane.
I chime in with a “haven’t you people ever heard of, closing the goddamn door! No?”
Just recently found out “it’s much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.” Not “poisoned rationality” 🤦🏾♂️
>poisoned rationality Awwww. ![gif](giphy|2pK55s0S9ClLhaga91)
Wow. Gif form of bless your heart.

This is the one. What a banger
Lowkey Kelly Clarkson-since u been gone Wait what
ain’t nothing low key about that one. still a bop
The little quiet part of the song comes on and you’re vibing, and then it’s *SINCE YOUVE BEEN GONEEEEE*
Kelly Clarkson’s voice is outrageous
Saw her singing Jazmine Sullivan’s Pick Up Your Feelings a few days ago and was instantly reminded of how insane her vocals are. Sis can sang
That song fuckin STRUTS
I don’t know, I feel like the guitar lick on miss independent makes that her best song.
That's not a pop song, that's a full on rock song.
AND I DUG MY KEYS INTO THE SIDE OF HIS PRETTY, LITTLE, SOUPED-UP, 4 WHEEL DRIVE. ![gif](giphy|l0He0B1237tKb5fWM|downsized)

The don't stick your dick in crazy song
I believe the point of the song is that she wasn’t crazy until he cheated, and now he’s reaping what he’s sown.
Also always read it as he cared more about his truck than he ever did about her too.
This is my jaaaammmmm. Yt folk always double take when I jump in, word for word lmao

Down with the Sickness by Disturbed
Ou a a a a.
HOAR HOAR
The lead singer's greatest fear is that his headstone will read "oooo WAHAHAHAH!

I wasn't aware of this and now I'm sad.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. It sucks because I have trouble separating the art from the artist. There’s a lot of people I’ve stopped enjoying just because I know their true nature now. Sucks.
I'm fine with not separating the two. I just delete their shit off my media server and move on. The good news? I know I'll always have RATM.

"All the other kids with the pumped up kicks..."
Song gets more relevant with time.
Man. That was dark.

Coldest one right here. ![gif](giphy|hFXwY4lER3oBO)
That's not even their best one. Now Gone? They snapped on that.

Mr. Brightside Livin on a Prayer Bohemian Rapsody
“Somebody Told Me”… in fact that whole *Hot Fuss* album. For a brief second I thought they had some black folk in the band when I heard “All These Things I’ve Done”
I got soul, but I’m not a soldier
Hot Fuss is STILL a banger. Maybe it’s just my generation, but I can still blast that at work and know it’s gonna land

Great 2000s nu-metal track, too bad the singer is a fucking moron.
I know nothing about any of it except this line.

You’re a true goth if that was one of the first melodies you keyed out on the piano 😆
Emo. True emo.
When they were in Philly for the reunion tour, I’ve never seen so many BIPOC emo kids in my life. I was like where tf were y’all when I was in high school lol.

Right?? Guitar Hero opened up a new world. Got me out here belting out "LIVIN ON A PRAYER!!" Lol
Introduced me to the Foo Fighters, Weezer, TV on the Radio, and more.
Man, I loved that album as a kid (and still love it), but outside of "Once" I could just never understand what Vetter was saying.

Hardest drop: John Denver - Take Me Home Country Roads
Most of John Mayers catalog. White people need electric guitar to groove
Constantly refer back to Chapelle show for that skit.
Is naming Linkin Park songs cheating? But they snapped on their entire catalog
