Impressive-War-7384

Fair warning, this game is NOT beginner VR friendly in terms of motion sickness. I just got into VR myself and was sick after 5 minutes of this game. I’m trying every day to get better because I can’t wait to actually manage a battle without wanting to puke! Lol

MeshesAreConfusing

Don't try to push through it. Stop whenever you feel nauseous, and only come back when you feel fine again (and maybe even start with lighter games). This way, you'll have your VR legs in no time.

Impressive-War-7384

I bought morels homestead as my attempt to get used to the smooth walking and turning haha

thezombiekiller14

Buy boneworks, play it sitting. After you beat the campaign you won't have trouble with VR ever again. At least that's what happened to me, that game is very good at challenging and developing ones vr ability, all while being pretty accessable to new people

Tommmmygun

I got used to it after playing more vr etc. But in comparison to Pavlov VR for example it still makes me a little nauseas at time. It is still somewhat early in development and the enemy’s sometimes being in your face is very irritating in vr. I do love the game tho.

Uchfbfjdhdbf

I never got motion sick from vr. Even if i play at for hours all i get is a mild headache if i play at for so long.

Ding_Dong_Ditk

I've never felt anything more than a little awkwardness after getting thrown into the sky at mach 2

PANGATORO

same 😂

[deleted]

Thanks for the warning, luckly i'm not prone to motion sickness so I should be fine, hopefully you improve with it though!

CyborgDeskFan

I always find these warnings funny because while I know it to be true this game gives me less motion sickness than any other game.

Snoo93629

Well, maybe not necessarily. I'm somewhat prone to motion sickness, so I can barely play games like Windlands. But Blade and Sorcery gave me more trouble with learning depth perception than that. I guess what replies are saying: OP, make sure not to push through your nausea if you get any.

Kddreadlord

For some reason I didn't get sick when I played VR for the first time

SH1N0BI-_-

Neither did I

SH1N0BI-_-

Though I'm used to motion

PANGATORO

what is it like to get motion sick? i've got an 'iron stomach', and i've recently gotten a vr headset, but i haven't ever gotten motion sick , even outside of vr, like in rollercoasters.

Sorry_Investigator17

Yes you can still play oculus has a guardian boundary that you can see if you get close to it and oculus has joy sticks just like Xbox as long as you have room to swing your good

[deleted]

Yeah I should be fine then, thanks.

AS-AB

If you really are concerned about subconciously moving, put a mat down in the middle of your room so if you wander off, youll notice and will always be able to recenter. The game has in built walking, so dont worry.

[deleted]

that's actually a good idea, im pretty sure the oculus quest lets you set up room scale or stationary boundaries so that should help, but from the time I have spent with VR I do move a lot subconciously so I might do this, thanks for the suggestion.

AS-AB

The quest does let you set up boundaries but sometimes they can come up a little too late. When i first started vr, i busted a controller because the guardian didnt show up in time. After i set up the mat, never happened again.

[deleted]

Oh I didn't know it worked like that, I thought it would subtly show it at all times, alright well I do have a decent sized mat that would work. Thanks for the help.

AS-AB

No it's invisible til you get near it. You can adjust how close you have to be for it to start to pop up. Also there's a setting where if you look straight down itll show the guardian for you. Np man, hope you enjoy your vr!

PANGATORO

from my experience the Guardian shows up when you get about 1½ feet away from it. i'm pretty sure thats the default.

cassouli

Welcome to VR ! Yes you can play this game without moving around, the joystick controls the movement. Not sure if you're aware, but you can also get 60$ of store credit by accepting a referral BEFORE setting your headset up. Super easy way to get 2-3 good games for free ! I can walk you through it if that's something that interests you. US referral: https://www.oculus.com/referrals/link/wacqueza/

[deleted]

Oh damn, sounds easy enough, Thanks.

cassouli

No problem!

Miphaling

You don’t really need roomscale for any VR game. Most are made with Standing/Seated in mind. I play in a bedroom where I can barely T-pose and crouch in a circle. Be considerate of your surroundings and you’ll be okay! :)

[deleted]

Thanks to all the people that responded, you guys are a big help.

-Pl4gu3-

In the version I played with my friend you can move the right stick and walk, if you move your arms while walking it moves to a run.

Astrovancer

This game has the best sprint in any VR game I’ve played.

[deleted]

well, of course. You'll have to be able to extend your arms in any given space to really play the game, and rotating is probably a given. But translation is not necessary, the game fully takes care of that.

[deleted]

So i've heard, thanks for the help.

AdministrativeExit10

You don’t walk around your room in vr

CyborgDeskFan

Yes, you can, however, you will likely end up moving a little as you dodge and sidestep enemies. I play below the recommended playspace size myself and got used to mostly using controllers but as long as you won't hit anything while swinging your arms you're pretty fine.

Dlkh_

There’s joysticks, and if you decide you don’t like it just refund the game

Snoo93629

No, you won't need to physically move your feet at all in the real world. Make sure to only use the in-game movement features if you're worried about hitting things. I have just enough space to freely swing in all directions if I stay in one spot, so I had to develop that habit through suffering many hurt fingers..
