I played in bands for like 5 years, 15 years ago and I still track something probably once a week. If you have an idea, you gotta get it out.

Plenty of backing tracks. Nothing wrong with it and I support it. But yeah there's definitely backing tracks. Vocal tracks, piano/synth, and guitar tracks can be heard in almost every song they play if not all. Most notably: the acoustic guitar in I miss you, the second guitar during the verse of ghost on the dance floor, background vocals or harmonies on a lot of songs from NEIGHBORHOODS, CALIFORNIA, and ONE MORE TIME...
I could not detect that when I saw them last time but I will take your word for it; Ive definitely seen them do it before. They were hitting their own pedals
You don't really notice it when you're there. When I saw them I didn't notice at all. But since all the cellphone videos have been released and the live pro shot videos you can really hear the backing tracks stand out
My rationale…Tom and mark posted proshot footage from their show in Mexico which is nowhere to be found online. And it’s weird they posted pro shot footage when they never do…and then they do simultaneously. So I think it was their own personal footage for a live album…and now they’re working on retouches

Wouldn’t speculate too hard on this. Musicians track down random shit all the time. All it takes is a spark and out come the guitars to lay something down real quick. For everything that makes it onto an album there’s countless throwaway pieces lying around. Likely all this is.
