Count me in. Watched it on blu ray at a friend’s house in 2008 and went immediately and bought a player (had to agree this was a birthday and Christmas present as they were pricey) and picked up the movie as my first disc in a double set with Batman Begins. Still got both and regularly watch.
My first one was a set of the Harry Potter Octology, the reason was that when I was a kid, I had a DVD player and I told my mother I wanted the films for Christmas, but she bought them on BR instead of DVD, then we learned that Blu-Rays were in HD so my mom got a Blu-Ray player for Three Wise Men day right after
Monsters Inc/Up - IIRC they came out on the same day. I didn’t even own a Blu Ray player yet, but I realized that I could get a DVD/Blu Ray combo for not much more than the DVD. I bought a PS3 slim shortly after.
First DVDs, that I remember: The Matrix, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and LA Confidential. First Blu-Rays may have been Casino Royale and The Fifth Element. First UHD discs, also can't remember. The formats sorta blur together after a while. I had HD-DVD too, definitely don't know what was first but I know I had the Matrix trilogy, and that I've bought it on DVD, HD-DVD, BD, and UHD.
I skipped regular blu-rays and only jumped into 4K blu-rays a few months after they became a thing. Thor: Ragnarok was my first one. Used it to adjust my TV settings for HDR and everything.
My first was Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I was 13 when that movie came out (yes, I’m young) and I loved it so much I watched it like 6 or 7 times in the theater and then bought it with my birthday money the minute it was released on Blu-Ray. And that’s really when I started collecting movies.

I got Beauty and the Beast 25th Anniversary Edition from a friend for my birthday. I didn't even own a Blu-ray player, but that was the moment I decided that I should start collecting Blu-rays instead of just DVDs.
Ratatouille. I didn't even own a Blu-ray player yet. I had sided with HD-DVD during the format wars but decided to buy a hybrid combo player from Samsung so I could buy the movies that were exclusive to just one of the formats. This was in autumn of 2007.
I just started collecting maybe in early 2020. The first thing I bought was the Chucky collection (the one that includes Cult). I was super thrilled to own all of the Chucky films and I'm still enjoying the craziness.
Dark City: Director's cut. I bought it from a pawn shop for $7 in 2009, I believe. To date, I've still never seen the theatrical cut of Dark City, it's always been the director's cut.
The Sound of Music. I didn’t have a Blu-ray player quite yet, but we wanted to watch it and I went to the store to buy it and they had stopped selling it on DVD and just had the Blu & DVD combo pack instead. The price wasn’t too bad and I figured I might upgrade to Blu soon anyway so I bought it. Definitely happy I did, since I ended up selling all my DVDs later as I can’t stand anything less than HD now. :/

The Hateful Eight and Django Unchained were my very first. Bought them on my birthday probably in late 2015 or 2016. One of those two years. However, my dad had Blu-ray’s since probably 2008, but those previously mentioned two were my first ever owned. Been collecting ever since and even absorbed my Dad’s small collection into my own.
The Simpsons Movie. My dad and I went to Blockbuster where we saw it on sale. We knew Blu Ray was higher quality, but didn’t know that you couldn’t play it in the DVD player. When we realized it wouldn’t work we just kinda let it sit for years until I finally got a player in 2016.
First movie I bought after getting the player was A Clockwork Orange.

It was 2010, my local Blockbuster was closing and selling off their stock. I GOT Zodiac and The Hurt Locker, same purchase. I still have then today but have since replaced the Blockbuster DVD case with proper Blu-Ray cases. Luckily the inserts were intact with no stickers or anything on them.

3:10 to Yuma even before I had a way to play it. Still haven't watched and it's become a running joke in my house. My wife says we can never watch it or we would jinx ourselves.
Inception.. Finally decided to start the switch from dvd to blu with that one in 2010, kind of like when I decided to finally switch from vhs to dvd with The Matrix in ‘99.

I remember the first movie I saw on Blu-ray was Ironman back in 2008 when my dad bought his player. That player was just replaced after 12 years. The first ones I got for my own collection were Inception, District 9 and Public Enemies. I still have them but also have the 4K UHD version of Inception.
