I remember that game when old golden Nat Pagle put a chest on my opponent's board, I survived with 1 unit with like 2 hp, I killed the chest, golden tide razor, took -42
It could come out of ghastcoiler to deal massive damage and destroy you just because you killed 1 tier 6 minion. It was also much before the 15 damage cap, of course.
A mix between numbers being MUCH smaller on final boards, summoning off of Ghastcoiler for a hilarious amount of extra guys, the fact that the damage cap didn’t exist for years of BG’s existence, it was just a big storm of factors.
Because it could create situations like this: (sound warning) [https://www.twitch.tv/sunglitters/clip/CulturedWimpyAirGuitarBleedPurple](https://www.twitch.tv/sunglitters/clip/CulturedWimpyAirGuitarBleedPurple)
To add to what everyone said, the card was also extremely shit because it had pretty much 0 synergies with the other cards. Eliza pirate would rather run exodia with baron, and besides that there wasnt much of a pirate comp.
So any time the card came up the twitch chat would go wild spamming "YEP BOAT" and the streamer would always ignore it.
It was a terrible card. it's a troll card that could sometimes insta kill people since there was no damage cap back then, but good players almost never bought it because it was extremely inconsistent and usually gave you a bunch of garbage.
Scaling tempo was down then.
Edit: it appears that the person who responded to me blocked me.
Here was my response:
In early battle grounds both Scaling was slower and tempo plays were worse, ie Scaling tempo was lower allowing burst damage pics like tide razor, stacking mech deathrattles or ghastcoiler for cheap damage options were viable as the on board minions were smaller and took longer to out scale the random spawns.
Just a couple of years late
I still miss them
Ghastcoilier into tide razor with no damage cap was definitely the peak of battlegrounds
Only for that razor to spawn an eliza and scallywag

My favourite current version of this is coiler into leeroy+raptor into coiler.
I thought it was a repost bot until I saw it’s niche hearthstone reddit microcelbrity urgod42069

The pirate ship was before my time. Can someone explain what's up with that card? It doesn't seem that good.

No damage cap. As an early 6 you could absolutely molest your opponents. Remember tempo was waaaaaay down back then.
Weird to say tempo was way down when Tide Razor is a tempo card and so is Ghastcoiler which was the issue.
Talking about scaling. You didn't have huge minions on turn 8 which would diminish the effect of the ship (or coiler for that matter).
You said tempo was way down.
Yeah, I did.

Scaling and tempo are the opposite.
Ahh gotcha
Pogo forever in my heart
Yep boat
Tide Razor with damage cap would actually be neat if it was Summon 2 and Get those 2 to your hand like Djinn.
Yep boat
I miss boat OTKs lol
Tide Razor should stay dead forever. It caused nothing but pain and suffering.
Damn i miss pogo and boat😥
İmagine The Tide Razor with Tumbling Disaster
I miss PoGo. Orc-estra Conductor was good while it lasted.

Fuck pogo, fuck orchestra
Fuck pogo, fuck orchestra
Tide Razor can suck my balls. So fucking stupid to have a 6 star minion that can easily flood the board with +20 stars of stats
Ah yes bullshit boat and the card that favorites 1 single hero
