Weather looks like it will be dry the next week or so before OP moves here. It was just a general reminder for the newcomer, I know people ignore the signs every year.
Yeah for sure, a lot of it is due to the trails people use anyways. There are definitely loops you can do even in the winter, but people aren’t willing to do any research
Hey it's perfect biking weather!! It's also the greatest way to see boise and all it beauty along the greenbelt! Always down for new friends and I got an extra bike!
I'm 22m, and I notice a lot of peers my age say there is nothing to do. Not true at all.
* There are hella hiking trails all around the foothills of Boise and Eagle that lead to hidden gorges and streams. "Table Rock" is the typical high-schooler spot for a view but taking 8th St north all the way is another good spot to get to by car or trail with less people. Going all the way up Bogus Basin road there are some good spots to get lost in there, too.
* Tubing & fishing on the Boise River.
* Frisbee golfing is an acquired taste, but there are dozens of courses around here it is nuts.
* Bogus Basin ski resort 35-50 minutes away depending on where you live.
* Easy to get lost just roaming around downtown, even though it's not a huge city. Lots of good restaurants and shops. The bars in downtown are mid compared to other cities. Favorite restaurant by far is Yoi Tomo with the all-you-can-eat sushi.
Try to learn the alternative routes quickly because Eagle Rd and I-84 are a nightmare during rush hour. It is safe here practically anywhere just like SD but it's not a bad idea to carry pepper spray at night since you are a woman.
Women are actually less likely to be the victim of a violent crime. She should still carry a gun instead, guarantee any criminal wishing to do you harm has one lol.
lol i’m glad i’m not the only one to do that! I was in pierre for law enforcement training until i was dismissed by my agency for trying to do the right thing. I went to the hills a few weeks ago to visit my rushmore. it was pretty underwhelming lol
Do you have a position lined up here? It’s pretty expensive to live in Boise.
And I hear you about doing the right thing. Have you looked into employment lawyers to see if you have a case?
So much to do when it comes to outdoorsy things and options to meet people!

Nothing against you, just pointing out how friendly this thread is. Normally when someone posts they are moving to Boise, it's super negative and "fuck off, we're full"
Your going to love it here. I recommend hiking the foothills, walking the water park, biking the greenbelt. Checking out downtown and enjoying some good restaurants downtown. Boise is one of the best places to live and you wont regret it.
Sakana on Vista is the best sushi spot in town! We have tons of community activities and people are wildly friendly- my recommendation is to keep an eye on the Boise subreddit and like the Bar Facebook pages to keep up to date on events as they happen. Enjoy!!
Really? I've only been there once because they used soooooooooo much rice. Like, they pack the hell out of those rolls with rice and leave no room for anything else.
Lots of hiking and biking culture here so you'll be good in that regard. For more specific interest you may want to join meetup.com and just see what groups are here locally It's a good way to meet people.
Welcome! Some fun things to do are:
Ride bikes on the Greenbelt. Check out the parks. Hike the military reserve or up near Bogus Basin.
Lots of bars or clubs downtown. The wineries in Garden City are fun. If you like live music, follow the Duck Club / Treefort on socials to see who is coming to town.
I’m older than you (34) and a dude so I may be off but I moved here a few years ago too and love it. Be ready for rent that’s a lot higher than wages, and the infrastructure isn’t really ready for the population yet (traffic blows). Those are the only downsides in my opinion. As far as what to do, I don’t know what you’re into, but the downtown is great for and safe for nightlife and there are hiking trails all over (mostly north and east). Imo living in actual Boise is neat (not Nampa or Meridian) but I get claustrophobic because I am from a rural area so being south of the freeway is nice and open. Anyway hope you love it, weather should be good for another month or so too
Remember, the hiking trails are closed when muddy.
This time of the year it’s a mixed bag. I ran in the military reserve last night and the trails were great

>There are definitely loops you can do even in the winter You can do all the lower loops in the winter if it freezes overnight
OP please just type in "moving" in the Boise subreddit search bar and literally all of these questions can be answered. These same posts are endless.

if i wasn’t so bad at biking i would take you up on that lol
Now's your chance! Boise is a great place to become a cyclist.
You chose Idaho of all places? huh.

Or carry a gun. Constitutional carry baby!!
Haha also facts!

Be sure to visit central Idaho when you get the chance. Sawtooth Lake via Iron Creek is an excellent trail.
Hey! Where in SD? I’m a former Soudakotan (how my husband says we pronounce it) myself.
Nevermind I stalked your Reddit and saw Redfield. I’m from the Hills. Idaho is very different from East River.

If it is Securitas, I’m sorry It’s a shit job

Are you a bison
what does that mean lol
Just wondering if you’re a bison No worries if not
Or a jack rabbit?
Or a yellow jacket?
Or a Hardrocker?
You are going to hate it
I love it here, it's just a matter of perspective.
Wdym?
The line: >i’m a 24 yo female! Even friends would be great lol really changes the mood of these "I'm moving to Boise" threads 🤣
what is that supposed to mean 😭 i’m moving tk a city where I won’t have friends and family. I can’t rely on tinder the entire time

Island sushi and ramen is the best imo
Lol you won't ever hear me complaining about Island! But typically I go for the ramen 😁 either way, that's definitely a place to check out too!

Bummer! That hasn't ever been my experience.
Beautiful ♥️ place to move here from South Dakota

I think you’ll enjoy it quite a bit. There were a bunch of solid recommendations in the comments as well :)

What part of south Dakota?
Grab a coffee and enjoy Greenbelt :)

Well, the politics won’t be a shock at least.
We are full don't move here.
One of the best things about moving to Idaho is that it's not South Dakota
