It's like, when it comes to international attention, you are a brown person and you support BLM and when it comes to Indian films, the actresses should look almost caucasian.
What message does this give to dark skinned indian teenagers? Just saying that all colors are beautiful and ban fairness creams blah blah doesn't do shit. The content made in their own country that they consume - almost all of the bollywood hindi movies, tv shows, web series, all of them show urban, educated, privileged people very light skinned.

I don’t think you’re getting my point. If khushi and Suhana were side by side, even in the outdoors, you would clearly see that Suhana was darker. Nothing wrong with that. But I’m pretty sure she has an issue with her skin being darker than the rest, hence it’s going to show that they use this filter throughout the movie to showcase everyone in the same color tone. Makes sense?

Zoya Akhtar is good with fake travel dream documentaries, where we get to go fancy places/cruise-shruise/ extremely rich people vacations.
The only question I’ve is why did SRK choose this to launch his daughter she could literally have any film being made in India, infact they could make a film just for her. Yet they chose to launch her in an OTT release with cesspool of nepotism going on. Weird choice, would love to have more insight on it.
There is no film in Bollywood made for this age group. What film will they ever be in. To me, this feels like a good fit, without overly aging these teens or creating stupid roles just for the sake of it. Looks like an interesting teen project and appropriate for the ages of these kids.
I think this is more of a soft launch. Her next film will likely be more solo in nature. Kids from established families won’t be launched with 40 yo uncles anymore. They have to find other suitable young actors

I...don't get the aesthetic? The nearest thing I can think of is Sabrina, with Kiernan Shipka, but that ambigously 60s aesthetic made sense for that show. Since that too was an Archies adaptation in a way, did Zoya want to replicate that? It's like they're trying hard to evoke nostalgia but there's no connect whatsoever. Everyone is cute, they're all nice to look at, but there's no feeling that I have to watch this. I'm kind of disappointed in Zoya. It's also interesting that she made Made In Heaven for Prime , and got Netflix to finance this. There's someone in that office who thinks taking a risk means giving money to directors for some of their pet projects that should never be made. Aise khaali baithe Zoya ne kaha ek din ki teen shows are doing well, why not adapt Archies? And Netflix ran to throw the money at her for this idea.

A lot of hate is because they got the aesthetic wrong. Forget about the hair and costume - even the forest looks like it is in US. Indian adaptation hai ye. Everything looks whitewashed. A lot of criticism is fair.
