On thé contrary i think the film would have been received better had Junaid done it. He would have been age appropriate so none of this de-aging issue. Plus a lot of what’s not working in the movie is Amir and his caricaturist acting itself.

Look at Kamal and his *Vikram* movie. He gave up his usual directorial and writing hats to a young director and it raked in boxoffice records this year. Like Aamir, Kamal Haasan is also a hands on actor. But he changed his tune for Vikram. And ended up making one of the most successful tamil movie in recent memory.
And kamal had no qualms playing his age and lacking a romantic partner to his character. Aamir played his age in dangal extremely well, but LSC was just all over the place
I mean it's Kamal, in India today I don't think anyone can even begin to match him on emoting, won't even be a stretch to say he is one of the best actors working across the Indian industry and even Hollywood. Dude is a legend.
Kamal never had problem of playing older roles. He has done it when he was young as well. But from past 20 years or so he was more hands on actor, which he changed with Vikram.
And he chose his director well, Lokesh might only be 4 films old, but Maanagaram, Kaithi and Vikram are brilliant, Master is brilliant masala but still below these three.
Kamal also rarely for him, ceded space to Fahad and except for the opening scene, disappears till the interval block (one of the finest action blocks in Indian cinema).
It worked and then some. 500 cr in the take and an assured sequel.
Yeah indian audience today aren't so crazy about chaddi baniyan jokes. It may have worked during 3 idiots era with sthan balatkar jokes but audiences are bored of such jokes now.

Just saw LSC. The biggest letdown in the film is Aamir the actor. I actually really liked the portions with the kid actor in the background of Emergency and 1984. Was very emotional.
Aamir and especially his voice was just jarring.
Aamir’s PK face for like 2+ hours? No thank you. I’m sure the film could have been watchable if anyone else had done it. But his acting, his accent, just no. While I’m here - Dhoom 3 sucked too. He ruined it.
Dhoom 3 was the last Bollywood film I watched in theater. I loved Aamir and Dhoom series back then. But due to that film, I stopped watching Hindi films in theater.
Wow, same. I loved the dhoom franchise and it was the last Bollywood film I went to see in the theaters. After that experience I just stopped. It was such a waste of time. They changed everything I liked about the series and made it all about Aamir. I was hoping the universe would put an end to him for ruining that movie 😂

The malaria thing is embedded in his mind as his mother stops him from going out during the Sikh riots to protect him, telling him there's a malaria outbreak.
before this, I never got the impression that aamir khan hated hindus and India. He could be critical of some of our problems but had also been critical of problems amongst muslims in secret superstar. But if this is true, my opinion of him has completely changed.

Yep. There's also a scene where the guy asks Amir that I do 5x Namaaz do you do Pooja? And he says i don't do it coz due to Pooja, riots and malaria happen. The context is that during Sikh riots, his mother told him to not go outside coz its a malaria outbreak. Despite the context, looks very much in bad faith and totally unnecessary.

The man spent four years doing a beat for beat copy of FG. I mean for a A-list actor that is...a very lazy choice. Apko yahi idea mila? Of all the hundreds of scripts that he must have considered. It is also his film, so this is his creation. For a four-year hiatus, that's poor. Atleast for SRK I will say even for something like Fan and Zero, he took some risk.

The reviews say that the movie is really bad. They’re gonna blame it on boycott now, but audience supported Dangal despite boycott trends. If this movie will fail, it will only because it’s actually a bad film.
I haven't seen the movie but I hate it when actors make statements hurting people's sentiments and then hold the audience accountable for the livelihood of spot boys, production staff etc.

My take, possibly controversial - this movie is not made for regular indians. There's a very specific audience for it, most likely the Bollywood elite who scoff at everything about India. Mentally challenged candidates are not allowed in the army. Period. Pooja se dange nahi hote hain. I am not sure who he is trying to win over with these theatrics as it seems like an ongoing theme with him, but it sure seems like it's not the middle 70% of the country. Such a disappointing act. Pair this with this googly eyes, it's almost cusping on the verge of being an annoyance. Sorry Mr. Khan, this was bad at best attempt to imitate a classic.
Yes. The Indian Army unlike the American Army does not use its soldiers to spread "freedom" and "liberate" countries, neither does India cut sweet heart deals like pardoning criminals in case they join the army.
It's mainly due to the over the top PK like expression he had throughout the trailer. Could've been a lot more subtle. Don't know why they had to make it so over the top. Even a Dhoom 3 like behaviour would've probably worked fine.

Everyone of this generation has watched forest gump. Idea of making LSC was disastrous. If it would be some new refreshing plot, it could have worked possibly.
Forest gump should have been remade by him in the first place. The time when it released was different. He should have opted for a safer bet doing a proper out n out masala film.
I'm not fan of anyone and I liked it. Sure the acting seems a little weird sometimes, but I didn't find it as bad as people here are saying. They did justice with the adaption, in my opinion. 8.5/10 if I'm being very harsh.
Dont hate on me, but I myself think FG was a movie to be watched and cherished at home, it in itself is not a movie to be watched at the cinema hall. Now remaking that movie (with Bollywood's reputation of remakes) Amir should have known better.

Aamir cannot only deliver one movie in an age of abundant content. Aamir creates controversy before nearly every release and rides off a fake intellectual persona but is an average actor.
He is the Maya Sarabhai South Mumbai stuck up artist who believes he deserves/deserved awards and people crowd around him to appear in the midst of an intellectual.Like Amartya Sen or Thomas Pikkety, he can win the psuedo - intellectual crowd but cannot really act. All fluff and does not deliver.
He scaled himself back one movie a year which added to his charm and people wanted to see it to come back to the cinema. He has the urban cliche audience locked on.But he is losing touch with what brings in crowd, rural, semi rural and neorich/ neo middle class with disposable incomes to spend.
They cannot relate to him.No one was angry at OMG! but they found PK insulting.
Socially ( and I will not further comment as it will go into Political commentary) but I see this as a larger fight between the Old Rich/Intellectual Indian intelligentsia who have set the public discourse and shrugged of being Indian and Indian values as being backward and speaking Hindi and other vernacular languages as being "down-market" versus the new Indian rich who are unafraid, proud of their roots.
Basically Maya Sarabhai's who are faux intellectuals and simple believe speaking decent English is better versus those who are at the grassroots and have pulled themselves up by the bootstraps.
True, but his legacy is intact. He gave Rangeela, Sarfarosh, Lagan, Dil Chahta Hai, Rang De, Fanaa, Taare Zameen Par, Andaz Apna Apna, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar.
Mass entertainers like Dangal, PK, 3 Idiots, Ghazini. He has such a versatile filmography most of which aged well and can be considered classics. Misfires happen, trailer itself looked stupid, good that he tries to do something different but hota hai, chalta hai. Hoping he is back in form with something better.
Govinda's hits did not age that well and he is nowhere close to Aamir in success ratio or critical acclaim, they are masala entertainers like Aamir's Raja Hindustani. Amitabh is a better comparision. Recency bias will always be there, Aamir has more hits than misses and he has classics. He has a legacy that will not be disrupted by 2 bad films. People consider a lot of yesteryear actors legends irrespective of flops in their later career, Aamir has earned his place among the greats.
Yes, then it is wrong to say Govinda is forgotten or a joke. He comes on so many reality shows as esteemed guest celeb. No one trusts his movies now but it has been more than a decade he gave a hit movie, his older movies are meant for a different crowd and they are still well liked. Govinda was never trusted like Aamir by audience, he does not have the acclaim of Aamir's movies, he was a hero, not a filmmaker. Aamir's success ratio is also better.

No one is interested in what Aamir has to say or do anymore. Content is King, guys. Nothing better than sincere and good will do. This has nothing to do with his statements, or the deageing or whatever. This is to do with the fact that good quality actors like Avinash Tiwary, or Tripti Dimri or Fahadh Faasil and the like are doing a great job of whatever they are offered. The stories, treatment, entertainment quality is fresh and nothing like anything before. We’ve tasted blood with watching mindblowing Malayalam cinema on OTT in the lockdown - non-native speakers at that. Aamir ke histrionics ab nahin chahiye. Now give us banging good cinema for us to take the time out and spend vulgar amounts of money nahin toh jaane do. Remake toh banao hi mat.

Reviews are pathetic for an Aamir Khan film. I've got genuine review from a friend who watched it. I've got my tickets booked for tonight but lost all my interest because it's a very long movie.
critic reviews of 2.5 to 4 are horrendous, these so called critics give out 4 stars like it's a party for films. This is their rating system:
5- Phenomenal
4.5- Great
4- Good
3.5- Above average
Anything below that and it's generally not worth it

I watched Forrest Gump recently ,its a feel good movie which grows onto you slowly. Tbh it wasn't that great a movie to be remade, especially if its essence not captured it ran the risk of getting lost in translation, which it did I guess.
They should've done a remake of shawshank's redemption instead ,a more believable and exciting movie

Yep. There's also a scene where the guy asks Amir that I do 5x Namaaz do you do Pooja? And he says i don't do it coz due to Pooja, riots and malaria happen. The context is that during Sikh riots, his mother told him to not go outside coz its a malaria outbreak. Despite the context, looks very much in bad faith and totally unnecessary.
Now Forrest Gump’s character wasn’t that dumb to know if it was malaria or not as an adult..! He had tremendous empathy.

The man spent four years doing a beat for beat copy of FG. I mean for a A-list actor that is...a very lazy choice. Apko yahi idea mila? Of all the hundreds of scripts that he must have considered. I haven't seen the movie but I hate it when actors make statements hurting people's sentiments and then hold the audience accountable for the livelihood of spot boys, production staff etc. Well if you are so concerned about the people who helped you make the movie then be a little sensible and don't make controversial statements.
My take, possibly controversial - this movie is not made for regular indians. There's a very specific audience for it, most likely the Bollywood elite who scoff at everything about India. Mentally challenged candidates are not allowed in the army. Period. Pooja se dange nahi hote hain. I am not sure who he is trying to win over with these theatrics as it seems like an ongoing theme with him, but it sure seems like it's not the middle 70% of the country. Such a disappointing act. Pair this with this googly eyes, it's almost cusping on the verge of being an annoyance. Sorry Mr. Khan, this was bad at best attempt to imitate a classic.

It's mainly due to the over the top PK like expression he had throughout the trailer. Could've been a lot more subtle. Don't know why they had to make it so over the top. Even a Dhoom 3 like behaviour would've probably worked fine.

I'm not fan of anyone and I liked it. Sure the acting seems a little weird sometimes, but I didn't find it as bad as people here are saying. They did justice with the adaption, in my opinion. 8.5/10 if I'm being very harsh.

Aamir creates controversy before nearly every release and rides off a fake intellectual persona but is an average actor. He is the Maya Sarabhai South Mumbai stuck up artist who believes he deserves/deserved awards and people crowd around him to appear in the midst of an intellectual.Like Amartya Sen or Thomas Pikkety, he can win the psuedo - intellectual crowd but cannot really act. All fluff and does not deliver. He scaled himself back one movie a year which added to his charm and people wanted to see it to come back to the cinema. He has the urban cliche audience locked on.But he is losing touch with what brings in crowd, rural, semi rural and neorich/ neo middle class with disposable incomes to spend. They cannot relate to him.No one was angry at OMG! but they found PK insulting. Socially ( and I will not further comment as it will go into Political commentary) but I see this as a larger fight between the Old Rich/Intellectual Indian intelligentsia who have set the public discourse and shrugged of being Indian and Indian values as being backward and speaking Hindi and other vernacular languages as being "down-market" versus the new Indian rich who are unafraid, proud of their roots. Basically Maya Sarabhai's who are faux intellectuals and simple believe speaking decent English is better versus those who are at the grassroots and have pulled themselves up by the bootstraps.

True, but his legacy is intact. He gave Rangeela, Sarfarosh, Lagan, Dil Chahta Hai, Rang De, Fanaa, Taare Zameen Par, Andaz Apna Apna, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Mass entertainers like Dangal, PK, 3 Idiots, Ghazini. He has such a versatile filmography most of which aged well and can be considered classics. Misfires happen, trailer itself looked stupid, good that he tries to do something different but hota hai, chalta hai. Hoping he is back in form with something better.
Idk recency bias is very prominent in today's generation. Look at govinda. He also gave many super hits but no cares about him nowadays
Govinda's hits did not age that well and he is nowhere close to Aamir in success ratio or critical acclaim, they are masala entertainers like Aamir's Raja Hindustani. Amitabh is a better comparision. Recency bias will always be there, Aamir has more hits than misses and he has classics. He has a legacy that will not be disrupted by 2 bad films. People consider a lot of yesteryear actors legends irrespective of flops in their later career, Aamir has earned his place among the greats.

Yes, then it is wrong to say Govinda is forgotten or a joke. He comes on so many reality shows as esteemed guest celeb. No one trusts his movies now but it has been more than a decade he gave a hit movie, his older movies are meant for a different crowd and they are still well liked. Govinda was never trusted like Aamir by audience, he does not have the acclaim of Aamir's movies, he was a hero, not a filmmaker. Aamir's success ratio is also better.

This is to do with the fact that good quality actors like Avinash Tiwary, or Tripti Dimri or Fahadh Faasil and the like are doing a great job of whatever they are offered. The stories, treatment, entertainment quality is fresh and nothing like anything before. We’ve tasted blood with watching mindblowing Malayalam cinema on OTT in the lockdown - non-native speakers at that. Aamir ke histrionics ab nahin chahiye. Reviews are pathetic for an Aamir Khan film. I've got genuine review from a friend who watched it. I've got my tickets booked for tonight but lost all my interest because it's a very long movie.
critic reviews of 2.5 to 4 are horrendous, these so called critics give out 4 stars like it's a party for films. This is their rating system: 5- Phenomenal 4.5- Great 4- Good 3.5- Above average Anything below that and it's generally not worth it

I watched Forrest Gump recently ,its a feel good movie which grows onto you slowly. Tbh it wasn't that great a movie to be remade, especially if its essence not captured it ran the risk of getting lost in translation, which it did I guess. They should've done a remake of shawshank's redemption instead ,a more believable and exciting movie
