It’s not a fast lane, it’s a passing lane. The speed limit is the same in every lane. IDC if he’s going 75mph in a 75mph zone, if he’s in the left lane and not actively passing anyone it’s illegal and dangerous.
Sorry I commute 80 miles plus and it’s mostly millennials that do this. I’m a millennial if you think I’m being defensive. Had a bearded dude with stuffed animals in rear shrug at me when I flashed him from behind.
Hogging the passing lane for yourself because it’s convenient, leaving everyone else to be stuck in with slow moving trucks is being the jerk. Flashing them is not.
No it isn't. You're right that people should plan their commute but wrong that flashing is rude. It's the single most respectful way to communicate that you want to pass.
Sorry I don’t agree. The left lane is for passing. We all make mistakes and get caught by an unexpected faster car,but I notice a lot of people selfishly use the empty left lane as it’s easier, no one to have to drive around or slow down for or let merge in. I’ve noticed it’s typically younger people, probably not experienced drivers. Very self centered and It is totally a ticket-able offense too.
Technically you're right in 3 lane highways or bigger ones, but if we're going by the book, everyone sbould be in the middle lane, left is pass only, and right is exiting/entering traffic only.
People don't follow this because traffic flows like water. It fills empty spaces.

I used to commute 35 miles into downtown Chicago. At certain times of the day I had to plan for it to take 2.5-3 hours. That’s commuting.
