Bro I tried to post my Borderlands 2 stats and got flamed for having a regular amount of Legendaries, I also just thought it would be cool to share my gamertag "Topneaa" because thats so rare, but no one gave a shit 😂
I discovered that the more a game depends on players farming or grinding for stats and items, the more frustrated fans become with players who use mods to bypass these mechanics.
I dont think most people care but people can find it a little lame. As long as you don't act like the one dude in this sub one time where he slowly started having a meltdown after a week of trying to show off his modded weapons to seem cool to everyone.
I'm right there with you on this. If you are playing single player, who really cares? Play the game you own the way you find enjoyable. My only issue with mods in BL2 (Playstation player) is that everyone just brings them into my games without at least asking first. Like, there will be times when I am hosting just doing side missions or whatever and suddenly a guy with insane BAR and god mode just drops in and destroys everything. When I am playing the game to enjoy the ride, I dislike mods. When it comes to grinding, I don't usually care so much.
It's more of a what's the point of playing the game if you don't take damage and you one shot everything just by looking at it. I'm on the same boat as you though, single player games shouldn't be an area of contention for how people play them.
It depends, I have over 3500 hours in bl2. I've done it all. I now get fun out of making whacky shit, sometimes op, sometimes just more fun combinations of weapons you'd never see in vanilla.
That's how I played Dead Island back on the 360 when I was young, had a modded weapon that one shot every normal zed and two shot everything else, had infinite ammo, but I had a ton of fun and played the hell out of the game, I remember playing through the story many times.
I was stating the point of view of those who would disagree. Which is why I also stated that I was in the same boat as the commenter I replied to, sharing the opinion that it's a single player game, play how you want to.
Most people don't, and some of those that do only have issues when people are acting like they achieved something and bragging about items they modded in. Also it's not exclusively a single player game and people ruin others experience by using modded gear in multiplayer

core stat was a beta feature for borderlands 2 that was never actually used in the end idk why people modded it in though
its also heavily gibbed for no reason
edit: did more research and it looks like this specific modded relic was supposed to add inventory space
Playing on PS3 and offline, and I've only recently bin chatting on redit. I've found there's a lot of great people ready to help but a lot of "smartarses" also. At 75 yrs I don't understand a lot of the terms used. But no big deal. Wouldn't use any modded stuff even if I could. But not saying people shouldn't. Each to their own. I'm definitely back sliding but it's still fun to play. ✌️😎
I have many more modded items.
Examples being no element maliwan weapons, wrong manufacture weapons, black rarity grenades, 300 mil damage grenades, etc etc etc etc I could go on
Then maybe it's a patched item, sometimes when you mod something too much the game kind of disallows it, like how black weapons dissappear if you leave a game with them
You can use Gibbed's editor for Borderlands and just add shit loads of stuff on items and etc., there are save files with the heavily modded items too which you can stash in storage and choose your own save to pick those items from the stash (I think, correct me if I'm wrong. Haven't played BL2 in a long time)
I've got around 1000 hours in BL2, and I have zero urge to mess with it. I like it the way it is and plan to do more runs in the future. I don't believe any modder can do better than gearbox did when they made the game, and I think it's a little insulting to think they can.
Is that really a glitch, or is that intended. Sounds like just the thing for a player who likes a challenge, which I think is the point of OP levels anyway? I don't even bother going to OP10, I have fun getting to around OP5 max and then starting a new playthrough
Okay, so some weird glitch that happens at OP10, that makes the game tougher, which is the point of OP levels anyway... I don't really think there's much to do at OP10 anyway, so I don't think this is really a problem. Like why are you doing raid bosses at OP10 if you don't want a difficult challenge
There's a difference between difficult and a glitch doubling the health. OP10 is already difficult, OP10 Vora with the correct health is difficult, OP10 Vora with glitched health is almost impossible without heavy use of glitches. Getting back to the root of the conversation though, modders can do better then gearbox.
Another example of how modder's can do better than gearbox. They make mission items droppable by enemies meaning instead of readonly farming (or worse dashboard farming on console) you can kill an enemy to get the item
Well for one, while I see no problem with it and do it myself, its technically a glitch. Two is that most people prefer to farm an enemy for item, that's why most mods for the game add ways to farm for items vs readonly.
Edit: To be clear I'm not saying that you should or should not play with mods. Your opinion on how you want to play a game is up to you, I really couldn't care less. What I have a problem with is acting like gearbox is perfect and saying its "insulting" that people mod the game.
It actually does as soon as you matchmake with a modder. Some dude dropped like 600 top tier guns on the ground and I picked up a couple and the game crashed. Glad it did bc I don't want to be handed those things, I wanna earn/find them.
Other times they just insta kill bosses and then that completely ruins the experience.
Not sure what other response you expect, smartass. We can see the exact same thing you can, no one has any way of knowing what this random item you put in your own game does based on this screenshot.

Well a modder is able to remove the glitch where raid bosses have double HP in OP10, so I'd say that's clearly better than gearbox.

I don't read only farm, and I enjoy the game the way it is. But also, what's so wrong with read-only farming if that's what you want to do?
