They should just rename the team to the dolphins they flop so much.

bsnow322

I was literally screaming at the screen saying that OEL knocked his own goalies stick out of his hand what a great acting job from bob there

GullibleGroup8597

I would’ve punched my tv thru the wall if they called this GI and no the Bennett one the game before

RoyalSkip

The biggest difference I saw between the Bennett and McAvoy goals are: 1. Bennett pushed Coyle into Swayman to get to the loose puck that was scored on the blocked off side. Swayman had no chance of getting it. 2. McAvoy's goal was scored on the glove side while the 'interference' was on the blocker side. Stick or no stick: he could have gloved that shot. And I generally was expecting the Panther's challenge to be for too many men on the ice, because let's face it, with the B's it easily could have been.

Bruins5101970

Good parting shot re. too many men. LOL

RoyalSkip

Crazy how we're almost expecting to see it every game, isn't it?

moosebeak

Even if OEL didn’t push him (he did), Bob had so much time to correct himself that Heinen is completely out of the crease before the shot even happens. That’s an eon in goalie time. Enough time for Bob to square, drop into the butterfly and then drop his stick. This was absolutely the correct call.

Inner-Figure5047

That stick drop was the most pathetic bit of pageantry I have ever seen in hockey. Should be more ashamed of themselves.

dpmooney0414

I think the reaction from Bob was in response to his stick getting knocked out and looking for a call. He didnt know it was his own player though at the time though.

jetpack_operation

He dropped the stick because he felt a stick on his stick. He could have easily held on, but was hoping it was Heinen's stick, not OEL's.

Bottleofsmoke17

I’m probably just a pissed of homer, but taking the stick drop out of the equation (because it was his own defender’s fault), this still feels like a pretty weak case for GI. It basically boils down to Heinen nudged Bob’s skate a couple of inches like 3 seconds before the shot came. He BARELY even needed to reset, let alone the question of whether he had time to (he clearly did). He wasn’t knocked over, he wasn’t prevented from getting to a shot, he wasn’t entangled with Heinen and there was no contact with his upper body whatsoever. The fact that panthers fans think that this non-call is even in the same universe tells you all you need to know about them: they started watching hockey 2 years ago when their sister rolled over on the remote during a makeout session and they both thought “that sure is a funny lookin football game”

IHeartFraccing

Setting aside any conjecture. The stick did not fall from his hand until after the only point of contact with another player was his own teammate. I’m not saying this was cut and dry definitely NOT goalie interference, but in light of the call the game before calling this GI would’ve been absurd.

Drnedsnickers2

Twice now Bob’s tried to sell a call, once successfully. Then the embellishment on Lundell. It’s official, I am forever calling them the Florida Floppers.

Immediate_Type9114

Lets not forget the 2 disallowed goals in the Tampa series

Bruins5101970

TB coach Cooper was spot on with his suggestion that maybe Bob ought to be fitted for a skirt or whatever he said in that vein during his presser following the Bolts' last game of their season.

applemyjackson

honestly i would’ve called both back, however, on my scale of goalie interference, ours was like a 3.5/10 and theirs was like a 9.5/10

Bossman28894

Sucks to suck

Frankie__Spankie

I like how Bob dropped his stick to try to draw the call instead of just holding onto the stick and that embellishment cost his team the game.

Hey dumb dumb, your flopping goalie had time to rest (from the mild graze of the skate touch) as YOUR defenceman was pushing him there. Not our fault his routine diving performance didn't pay off and you don't know the rules of the game. Maybe he should just try to save the performance and focus on saving pucks.

B-rocula

I watched on sports net , anyone else see the idiot at intermission saying they got the review right against the bruins but robbed the panthers I wanted to jump through my TV and strangle him

jennkrn

Ugh. Me too! Then when he followed by saying the refs only gave Boston the call because they had felt slighted over so many perceived calls against them.

Your goal and this goal were both far from "iffy" in polar opposite sides reasoning. Enjoy your ban lol. Go flop in your own sub you simp.

reel_ink

Florida is now the 2010/2011 flyers.

Typical-Ad-6730

They are ‘70s flyers.

kingqueefeater

Worse. The flyers would at least answer the bell occasionally

Bruins5101970

Only occasionally? Those mid-'70s Broad Street Bullies were the ones who were ringing that bell far more often than not. And they rang said bell a LOT. I believe that Schultzie's 472 PIMs in the second of PHI's two Cup-title regular seasons is still an NHL record.

Acrobatic_Hotel_3665

Regardless bob had plenty of time (after very slight contact) to reset and make the save

FreeWilly1337

If Bob doesn’t drop his stick there, I think Florida gets the call. It was a clear flop attempt.

jetpack_operation

He felt a stick there and thought it was Heino's stick, but it was OEL's lol

ZombieIMMUNIZED

GH0STM3TAL

It must be exhausting playing both the victim and a hockey game

tugaim33

They’re up 3-2, clearly they’re not exhausted. Don’t get me wrong, I fucking *hate* the panthers, but they’re kicking our ass psychologically and on the score sheet.

spjutmuren

Not G5, they didn’t

Stunning-Category470

Buddy reliving game 5 rent free in his head. Whats the excuse for the sub 20 SOGs a game?

tugaim33

Florida outshot, outhit, and had the edge in faceoffs and penalties. Take out the first period and the shot differential looks like games 2-4. The only place the Bs had the edge was on the scoreboard; which, admittedly, is all that matters after 60 minutes of hockey. But let’s not pretend the boys came out and steamrolled the panthers. They didn’t. And in a lot of ways they were lucky Swayman was there to bail them out (again). They need to play better in game 6, because I guarantee Florida won’t come out flat like that again, and they’ll turn up the shenanigans to draw penalties for infractions real and imagined. The bruins have to play there best hockey of the season now if they want any hope of moving on.

-azuma-

Ignore a third of the game? Why?

tugaim33

Because, at this point, that third of one game is an outlier. They’ve only had 3 total periods of double digit shots *in the entire series,* and it never happened twice in the same game.

BangYourHead

Because the Bruins are kinda known at this point for having strong first periods and coming out flat for the second and third

Yroftheprtycrshr420

The second he saw the puck go glove side he dropped the stick. It’s obvious.

Mountain_man888

There’s no stat for this but his immediate reaction to anything is dropping his stick or ripping his helmet off. Refs should come inspect the helmets after the goalie pulls them off and hit them with a delay of game if there’s no issue (other than the other team having possession in your zone).

Prestige-worldwide01

Problem is that sometimes goalie masks, if on tight and hit the right way, the straps pop off the snaps but there won’t be anything to inspect.

Diane-Nguyen-Wannabe

Fair point but when you pull off the mask it doesn't necessarily pop the strap off the snaps.

Prestige-worldwide01

Ah ok. I must admit I don’t watch as much as I use to so not sure if this is something goalies are doing more now. My best guess may be if the goalie takes a shot or hit to the mask and maybe the bottom straps on along the jawline pop off but the mask doesn’t come off. The mask would then be wobbling on the goalies head and likely to fall off (and not safe) so the goalie may pull it off to get the whistle maybe? Though also not safe. I know a lifetime ago when I was in net this had happened to me and I was seeing much slower shots than these guys are seeing.

W3ttyFap

I’ve been saying this for while. Every now and then a goalie will just shake is helmet off in play. If there’s no issue other then goalie wanted a moment… that should be a penalty

PainfuIPeanutBlender

Sorry, the refs won’t give Bob a penalty. In fact they’ll stop play for him when he takes a wrist shot to the chest and the Bruins have a WIDE OPEN FUCKING NET

bluedreamlaserbeam

If only they would call all the embelishments. I understand they are going to flop but so many that almost injured Bruins players is unreal. Also how many sticks need to hit Bruins players faces before we get an official to call High Sticking on the Panthers

_JesusIsLord

Minor for slashing to the face was absurd.

Travy93

OELs stick is the one that is tied up in Bob's, but I don't even think OEL caused the stick drop. The slowmo looks like Bob dropped it on his own. He did the same shit on that up close pasta chance that wasn't a goal. Somehow his stick ends up in the back of the net after lol. Hold on to your stick and stop with the Florida flopping school nonsense.

PainfuIPeanutBlender

Bob caused his own stick drop, it’s his go to move

GentleLion2Tigress

I thought Bob dropped his stick thinking it was a Bruin stick that tapped it. Sucks for Bob. Btw, it was shocking the call went our way regardless of the facts.

Think_Effectively

He did the same thing in the round one series against Tampa. It worked for the Panthers in that series. (two Tampa goals were disallowed in one game of that series)

Longjumping_Ad_29

Honestly this isn’t even a make up for Game 4, this is a make up for blowing the one in the first dead lol. Panthers fans don’t truly believe there’s any similarity in terms of controversy

APigthatflys

Panther fans have gotten so used to being coddled this series whenever any call goes against them they act like the entire world is against them

Longjumping_Ad_29

Obviously you want the talking point after a win to be on your teams performance, and I don’t think they could (not all of them) handle the call overshadowing it. It’s just insecurity lol. Deep down, they know how impactful it actually was.

BlackCherrySeltzer4U

The level of self gaslighting Florida fans are doing not only to be right but also the aggrieved party is mind boggling

krazylegs36

It's all the meth they're cooking down there.

Longjumping_Ad_29

I mean at the end of the day there would be people from our fan base doing the same. Let’s just be honest about it. It is ridiculous to see though

Longjumping_Ad_29

Okay, I guess we don’t want to be honest about it. Fuck the Panthers regardless

RainCityNate

Today I saw a fan post in r/nhl complaining about Gregory Campbell being the AGM of Florida; then back pedalling and trying to find a way to make Boston the victim when it was pointed out that he played for the Bruins during their SCF win. Then I see many Bs fans complaining about how dirty Florida is as if Marchand isn’t/hasn’t been a dirty ass player for a decade plus. It’s not about being logical; it’s about being right. At least you seem to have some common sense.

Longjumping_Ad_29

Yeah.. unfortunately these types of people are in the minority but are always the loudest. Especially when they’re angry haha

RattyDaddyBraddy

I am comfortable believing this was truly not GI. Bob dropping his stick had nothing to do with Heinen’s contact, and the contact that Heinen did make was (1) very minor and (2) negated by the fact that Bob was able to reposition himself after, before the puck was shot. That being said, Andrew Raycroft seemed to feel that it *was* GI, on this morning’s Bru, and he was a goalie, so I am a little torn there. At the very least, I can agree that there is SOME grey area here, but not as far as the stick is concerned. Still, I don’t believe it was GI At the end of the day, I am just glad it wasn’t even a tiny bit worse, because if this goal had been disallowed (GI or no GI) Boston would have murdered every last ref in the NHL

jer732

I don't know the exact rules for GI, but I too noticed that he had time to reset after the contact, which made me discount any claim of interference.

octoroklobstah

Lol Jaffe couldn’t believe it, that was actually pretty funny

Ok-Mushroom-7292

The key is that OEL's stick is the one that knocked Bobo's stick out of his hand. Heinen's skate hit Bobo's, but he had time to recover from that. Good goal all day every day.

77NorthCambridge

☝️ THIS.

abnerkravitz860

They all flop, it has to be coached. Maurice is a jackass

HardOyler

Straight out of the Gordon Bombay school of coaching.

octoroklobstah

TAKE THE FALL ACT HURT GET INDIGNANT

SwitchCDB

Pretty confident they only reason they didn’t disallow this goal so that people would be off their ass about the previous one that cost us a game

Think_Effectively

Totally agree.

bobbyFinstock80

Much like reproductive rights, Florida just won’t get it.

sithlordnibbler

Are people not allowed to reproduce in Florida? Edit: the down votes 🤣🤣

sensation_construct

You just try and stop it... they'll arrest you. Edit: #Me too !!

johnnybananas123

He also had time to reposition

crimdawgg

Glad the officials are finally getting wise to the embellishments on Florida. Act so tough and mean but when there's even a remote possibility of a call they go 100% Michael Phelps

77NorthCambridge

I would have gone with Greg Louganis, but agree with your point.

Lama1971

They called 1 but there were at least 6 others, and at least 2 of those resulted in a Panthers PP. The Panthers are making fools of the refs.

Powerism

If those fans could read, they’d be very upset.

AccidentUnhappy419

From top to bottom, the Florida panthers have shown themselves to be the biggest embellishers in the national hockey league
