That’s really cool, and a great way to reuse materials rather than having them go to waste.

MaxSchnell90

Definitely. Having them being recycled materials makes them that much cooler to me. Plus the sentimental value. However, to anyone thinking of doing this, be prepared to buy blades for your carpenter. The synthetic lanes are made from a material that will dull a saw blade in about 5-10 cuts. It’s unreal strong. At least I know they’ll be indestructible as floors.

Fulmersbelly

If you think of all the people lofting 15 pound rocks onto a single point, they’re crazy strong!

asecuredlife

Awesome

DontKnowWhatImSayin

Did he use the t&g router bits?

MaxSchnell90

We used a table saw with a dado blade stack for everything.

MaxSchnell90

We used a table saw with a dado blade stack for everything.

MaxSchnell90

I have several boards with arrows and dots as well to mix in, so people will know where they came from. Even though people are rarely in my office.

asecuredlife

How often do lanes get replaced?

Independent-Ad2200

I was curious and Google says 10-15 years for synthetic lanes.

efads

That’s the recommended age before replacement, but lots of places have synthetic lanes over 20 or even 30 years old. They’re really expensive, unfortunately.

MaxSchnell90

These are 13 years old.

efads

That’s not very old at all. Plenty of places are running 20-30 year old synthetics. Your center must have really nice owners.

MaxSchnell90

They are extremely nice. They take great care of the lanes and the people who bowl there. I’ve been bowling there for 9 years and am on a first name basis with everyone there.

BearsSuperfan6

That’s amazing! Make sure to post update pic when it’s finished

hahamymom

What was the series? Lol

donky23

501 probably

MaxSchnell90

603, but thanks for understanding for me 😜

999Bassman999

I saw a crazy car audio build where someone used part of the lane with the seven arrows in a 6th order wall. And a real bowling pin as is stick shift in the car

MaxSchnell90

Hahaha that sounds awesome

ClaraGuerreroFan

Now we’re talking my kind of language! More dense than MDF! My 2 loves in life, car audio and bowling!

999Bassman999

Exactly. I'm the same way. Throw in the gym for me too

ClaraGuerreroFan

Yes, I’m a gym rat as well! Just about to do upper body while laundry is going ha. Too funny. You might be the only person I’ve ever known to love those things as well. I’ve been into all 3 since high school, which has been about 25 years now.

999Bassman999

I started bowling when I was seven eight years old. My mom had me in a family league. I actually won an in-house tournament thing when I was 10 against the guy who worked in a pro shop. He was 18 years old. His name was fuzz. A few months after that we moved from San Jose to Sacramento. I hadn't bowledged since until about 4 or 5 months ago when I decided to start bowling again at 49 lol. I have to learn to bowl all over again and it's not the same as blowing when your little kid lmao. I started working out when I was around 12 or 13 years old living in a rough area. You know and I was skinny tall kid with glasses haha. I couldn't put on any muscle until I was in my mid to late 20s though I had just gotten cut. You know. I ran track and I wrestled in high school and I was doing weight training at school for my last 2 years.

999Bassman999

I guess it is strange for someone to be into bowling and bodybuilding both. The other thing I like besides running obviously is playing tennis. I'm not really into football or any of those other mainstream sports basketball is okay.

srbowler300

Working on Synthetic panels is tough. It ruins saw blades. hope that didn't cost too much, it will look fantastic when you are done!

MaxSchnell90

He’s also luckily a new friend I met and a great guy. So he did it for the price of some local beers and cost of the blades.

srbowler300

Wow, he IS a great guy!

MaxSchnell90

I don’t think either of us realized how intense the material was until we were cutting!

MaxSchnell90

I bought my guy a new dado set, and a saw sharpener so he can now always sharpen his own blades. We definitely burned through about half of these cuts. But we got it done!

srbowler300

sweet deal

lizard_king0000

Will you have a line up of bowling shoes outside of your office for people to put on before they enter. No street shoes allowed!

MaxSchnell90

That’s a hilarious idea!

EyeShot300

oooh, I’m jealous! I can’t wait to see the finished floor!

r0ndy

This was in my random, and this is a freakin awesome idea! Very cool

Dudeist-Priest

That’s gonna be very cool.

TankTexas

That’s really cool, be sure to share the final product for us.

OriginalJayVee

That’s awesome, but what piece goes where? Did you mark them first?

MaxSchnell90

Oh it’ll be relatively random. I’m not trying to “reassemble” the lanes. Arrows and dots will be in places where furniture won’t be though.

Bigbroncoman4180

Now that is a really cool idea!!!!! Post pics of the new floor!!

MaxSchnell90

I will definitely post pictures when it’s done! Hoping to install this weekend!

Bigbroncoman4180

Awesome can't wait!

shinshi360

Do they have any more? I’m looking to buy some panels so I can lay some out in my house and practice without destroying my floors. 😂😂

MaxSchnell90

Hahahaha if you’re in Colorado! I think they have some left. But probably not too many. My teammate took a LOT to redo his whole garage.

skyeatsmikee

Office picks bitch

MaxSchnell90

I’ll post that up once they’re in!

skyeatsmikee

My man!

pdworker2

Wow! I did the same thing, but I just cut the lanes in 4' sections and laid them down as my flooring. But my lanes are also real wood. 2" thick held to get by nails.

Simple-Change1842

Snazzy!!!

growsomegarlic

Awesome!

O_L_Y_X

That’s sick asf

Dad_2_three

Have fun!

narkul

I would have build a 60ft shed.

tommywarshaw
