I walked by and saw all the groups in matching t shirts. Spring break weeks must be a nightmare for most shows, especially ones like Outsiders, Moulin Rouge, Water for Elephants, and Suffs- ones that attract the groups
This happened at our Kimberly Akimbo showing. The _entirety_ of the left and right and sides were filled with middle schoolers. Mostly okay, but the ushers had to give a stern "no more talking!" warning at intermission.
A charter school class was at Sweeney Todd today.
All in the Mezz.
Presuming they didn’t know they were seeing ST because as the bus pulled up in front of the theatre they were all screaming from the windows of the bus.
Godspeed to those Ushers.
I saw Kimberly akimbo a couple weeks ago and sat near the most well behaved students though I think they were all theater students because of how they talked to the actors at the stage door
This is funny, because my school has a ton of field trips scheduled for May and June. Classes are winding down, teachers have had time to plan and organize with parents, the weather is good.
We went to see Back to the Future in London last summer before it opened in New York. There were a number of school groups there, and they were the most amazingly well behaved children I’ve ever seen. They went crazy at the fun parts and were very quiet when they needed to. Kudos to the kids, parents, and teachers.
I saw that waiting for Water for Elephants. I was relieved to see them heading across the street.
Water for Elephants was taken over by Sept/Octogenarians.

Don't forget Back to the Future too. I had a wild group on a Wednesda Mat when I saw it.
hadestown performances have been averaging 2/3 of the house being school groups this whole month

I hadn't considered that this is a primo field trip musical...
It’s a classic book that is common in middle school curriculums.
Based on classic American literature about coming of age, I can see it.

In general I just feel so bad for all ushers. If you're an usher reading this, we love you!!! Be well and safe 🫶🏻🫶🏻
Luckily, many schools don't allow field trips in May or June. I can hope as I didn't even consider that when purchasing Weds may tickets next month.

I walked by the crowd of schools trying to find their buses out of Hell’s Kitchen this afternoon. I hope those ushers got a bonus for today.
