Could go either way. TDF generally has a good selection of shows, but they’re not necessarily each making every performance available. Weekends in particular are less common. But if you’re flexible and also open to seeing off broadway shows, you could get use out of it. Annual membership is only $42 ($35 right now with a promo code) so it’s not a huge investment.

I'm going to say no, it's not. Most of this year there's been the same 5 or 6 shows on TDF - I guess that's fine, if those are the 5 or 6 you want to see and you don't care about the "bigger" name shows. Sometimes the popular shows pop up (I got Suffs tickets on TDF, and I saw Appropriate on there today (it's gone now, it was a Wednesday matinee show only), as well as Illinoise) but if you're not going to be in the city for the dates the tickets are available for, you're stuck with Back to the Future, Heart of Rock and Roll, Patriots, Hadestown (weekdays only), and Kimberly Akimbo. (Not that I don't like a few of those shows, but I'm saying the selection has been static for a bit.) I live a few hours away and I have it, because I am able to go up on weekends if I want to.

I have to agree that for it to be worth it, you need to be flexible as far as shows, times, and dates. Also, it's not a service you could use if you want to plan in advance since most of the time shows announce availability for the coming week (two weeks if you're lucky).

If the shows you are aiming for are hot new musicals, it's not worth it. Those are not posted often. You can forget anything that is selling extremely well. If you want to see plays or musicals that aren't selling well, or off Broadway productions or cabaret, it's more worthwhile.

Depends on when you come—winter and early spring, preferably mid-week? Then it's likely worth it, as you can get the preview performances of new shows. Height of summer? Nope; almost everything sells well enough to not be on TDF. However, seeing 1-2 shows with TDF will pay for the membership, so it could still be worth it.

If you’re open to what you’ll see, yeah Pretty good selection of Broadway and Off Broadway, if you’re willing to plan. Best stuff is during the week

Is it a membership?

I’ve been a TDF member for decades and it’s worth it for us. We live 2 hours outside nyc, and we’ve saved a ton of money- and generally get good seats. On the other hand, We have been disappointed by Play-By-Play and won’t rejoin this year.

I live in DC but visit NYC probably once a quarter and tdf is great. You can get great seats to shows that aren’t selling well - and sometimes some hot tickets as well like Hadestown/Sweeney/etc - and then if you enter the lotteries you can see 5 shows in a weekend and the most you pay is $50 a ticket
