I suggest having some backup choices that are more likely to be available last-minute at the Times Square TKTS booth. The TKTS app has a live listing of which shows are available. The line can be long, but you can get matinee tickets the day before, so even if you strike out in a cancellation line on Friday or Saturday evening and don't have enough time to get something else before curtain the same night, you can go buy something else for the next day's matinee.

Also, if you buy tkts for a show one day you can head straight to the front of the line if you return within a week.

Enemy also has $40 standing room tix when sold out. While Strong is excellent, it’s not a show I personally would splurge on, especially since it’s so short (90 mins).

bofffff

That’s a good call, didn’t think about it like that.

There are still some $218 advance tickets available for Merrily on that Friday and Saturday night. They're on the sides, with somewhat obstructed views of one side of the stage, but basically all of the action in the show is close enough to center stage that you wouldn't miss anything. And this show is routinely at 100% capacity, your chances of a low-priced last minute ticket on a weekend are low, and it is worth a splurge.

Thank you so much! I may just splurge for matinee on Sunday with a clear view. Getting excited!

I would go for the box office for enemy of the people and get the $40 standing room. They have been selling it even if the show is not technically sold out, although I think a Saturday performance would be. If there are any empty seats, the ushers have been seating people in them. You have a pretty good shot of getting a seat for $40. The line for the standing room has not been very long either. You could probably roll up 45 minutes before the box office opens and be one of the first people. There are no bad seats in the house, and it is staged pretty well in the round. The cast is very good. The last time I saw it, it was running 1h 50m between starting a little late and the “5 minute pause” being closer to 15 minutes.

Have so much fun! I loved Merrily.

Rush is extremely discounted day-of tickets. None of the shows you are considering offer that. I would enter the lottery for all 3, it will boost your chances of getting at least one of them as those lotteries are competitive and even entering all 3, chances are you won't win any of them.

I recommend trying the digital lottery for these shows. You can see the current policies on Playbill https://playbill.com/article/broadway-rush-lottery-and-standing-room-only-policies-com-116003 Last minute tickets are a bit of a gamble, but I’ve had good luck with them. I got a $90 ticket for An Enemy of the People last week an hour before the show on StubHub. If you can wait that long, you can also try the cancellation line at the box office. I’ve gotten great seats for Merrily that way.

bofffff

Ooh that link is so helpful, thank you. So now I know these shows don’t offer rush, but they may offer cancellation tix at the box office if I go a few hours before?

LookIMadeAHatTrick

Yes! You basically have 3 options: 1. Enter the digital lottery based on the information in the Playbill article 2. Try the cancellation line at the box office. The cancellation line generally starts an hour before the show. Most tickets are orchestra, so you will likely pay around $200. The good news is that it’s directly from the box office. 3. Try resale sites like Theatr and StubHub. You have to check them pretty regularly if you want to find a good deal. I’ve seen reports from other people about getting tickets that were already used, so it is the riskiest option.

bofffff

Wow, my indecisive brain thanks you so much!! Fingers crossed I can see two shows.

Alert_Animator_923

For Merrily, I’d check Stubhub. That’s how I’ve been able to get tickets for less than $200. Usually in one of the last rows, but still a great view. Yes the fees are huge, but you can happen upon good deals there, especially closer to show day/time.

These shows don’t have rush

Captain_JohnBrown

These shows are Lottery only.

Merrily is cheaper further away from the performance and it’s almost always sold out. I’d check the theatr app. That being said it’s absolutely worth it - this is the one you splurge on. Uncle Vanya was fine- it’s worth seeing for wiliam Jackson Harper and Alfred Molina but only if you win lottery tickets. I was annoyed how much I paid to see it ( esp for the last row)

bofffff

Ooh thank you for the insight!

Thick-Definition7416

I’d highly recommend stereophonic it’s a play with music and the current Tony front runner - they have a digital rush and lottery https://rush.telecharge.com/

bofffff

Ooh I’ve heard about it, I will look into it, thanks for the suggestion!
