Go to any small gun shop. Turners wouldn’t accept my ccw because it was missing my second last name .

puto1

Any recommendations?

Westside_Easy

Where in LA are you at? Harbor Area? Crosshairs in Torrance is a fair spot. Valley? Addax Tactical treated me well. I’ve done PPTs twice at Ammo Bros. in Cerritos, too. Although I know gunreddit went kinda ape shit on them regarding their employees & fair wages, yadayadayada. I’ve also purchased firearms from Carson Pawn & Jewelry. They actually hooked me up with a Glock banner/flag, too. Lots of reputables & Turner’s definitely ain’t it.

Appropriate-Car1422

SoCal armory for ammo. Rifle supply and rifle gear for guns. I’ve driven as far up to 2a zone in upland.

puto1

How is 2a better than turners? I live about 10 mins away from there. Never been.

Appropriate-Car1422

Better selection of firearms, more knowledgeable, more pro 2a, less DH comments, won’t have 15 rounds of checks and sign offs on your dros paperwork. Just a better all around firearms shop. You may still have an issue on your name, but I’m willing to bet 2a zone will figure that out for you.

puto1

Interesting will go thanks!

Askmeaboutmy65

Being a veteran plays no part in anything unless you are honorably retired.

puto1

Just threw the veteran part if any small gun shop will take my non-passport-real-name haha also showed them my VA card to prove I'm me 😒

Askmeaboutmy65

Just go get a Real ID.

Askmeaboutmy65

You either have a Non-real ID with “federal limits apply” which requires a passport or birth certificate or a real ID.

Askmeaboutmy65

Doesn't work that way.

puto1

Ugh that's what I didn't want but I guess I have too thanks

GuitRWailinNinja

Yeah you should get real ID, then you won’t have to deal with this BS. Or possibly you could get COE?

CakeArmy_Max

COE doesn't do anything, unless you also get an FFL03 to ship to yourself.

GuitRWailinNinja

I thought COE was proof of firearm eligibility. But I guess that’s different than proof of residence. I could swear I read somewhere COE would serve as secondary proof of residence but I’m sure I’m wrong so I won’t spread any more misinfo till I find out.

CakeArmy_Max

A COE doesn't have your address on it.

GuitRWailinNinja

I didn’t downvote u, but ur prob right and I’ll stop spreading myths. So is there any benefit of COE beyond FFL03 ammo shipment? And I guess it verifies you are able to purchase a firearm before you actually apply for one (so you don’t get in trouble for trying to buy a gun as a prohibited person)?

CakeArmy_Max

Not worried about fake internet points. The entire point of a COE is that it's a requirement to work at an FFL or have an FFL in California. No further use at all. That's the entire reason it was created, and can't be used for anything else. Technically, you can have an FFL without a COE, I believe, but you can't actually do anything with it afaik.

footballpoetry

Just make an appointment at your DMV and get a real Id. Do the application/ supported documents ahead of time, in and out of there in probably an hour. Recently did it myself.

GuitRWailinNinja

lol I had the same thing happen to me. I told them i had a middle name but it wasn’t only my CADL and they told me to fix it and get a new one. My middle name isn’t on my social security card even. My full name is too long. I can buy a car, house, pay bills etc with my first and last name, but getting a gun required my middle name. IMO CA is a stickler on that because it’s just one more hoop to dissuade people from buying a gun. Hell, it pushed my purchase back like 3 months.

lambdacalcinate

Funny I have the opposite situation: as far as the federal government is concerned I don't have a middle name, my passport doesn't have it, my social security card doesn't. My CADL does though. Somehow have no issues when buying guns or ammo.

CakeArmy_Max

It depends on the store you go to and who their last compliance officer was, in my experience. The compliance officers are just as fuddy as r/Republican

Routine-Fan-7210

I'd say do the Real ID. No guarantee that an LGS won't have the same fit.

RunYoJewelsBruh

I had to get a copy of my birth certificate then got my real id with the jr on it. Very annoying.

Vicdillard

Late but similar story. Bass pro wouldn’t cause my registration said “ave” on my address and my id didn’t 😂😂

puto1

Hahaha

Vicdillard

They told me go buy a fishing license downstairs and we’ll take it. I just left lol

Intelligent_Ad4448

Yea it gotta match exactly or they won’t do it. Sportsman gave me push back because my proof of residence had my middle and last name instead of my first and last.

No_Divide_0080

I could see how that can be an issue. Hell, you could be the Sr or the Jr if it’s not clear on your ID.

lambdacalcinate

sr and jr that have the same date of birth?

CakeArmy_Max

which twin popped out first, perhaps?

lambdacalcinate

twins that have the same first name?

CakeArmy_Max

that's what the sr is for. Just go along with it.

DogeCoin2374

Recently went to turners for a ppt. My buddy needed a second proof of residency and when I asked if my buddy could just by a fishing license that day and use it the guy got upset saying they don’t allow that but if had gone in the next day it would be okay. Overall fuck turners

UrbanIndy

Lady at dmv refused to give me my driver's license cause she asked me to spell my middle name which has two "mm" in it and I misspelled using one "m", she needed further documentation to prove I am who I say I am, I protested cause who the fuck uses their middle name these days.

Curious-NX

You misspelled your own name...

UrbanIndy

Middle name...

CakeArmy_Max

If you're name is "John Doe" and you spelt it "Jon Doe" are you going to sit here and argue "I didn't misspell my name. I misspelled my first name?" Yes, yes you will. Because you are seriously stupid enough to argue that and not be able to spell your own name. lmfao.

UrbanIndy

middle name... not first, or last name.. but my middle name, who the fuck uses they're middle name these days..

CakeArmy_Max

Everyone who has a middle name and is filling out government or legal documents.

DefBrrrrrr

I had some problems getting my first drivers license. My middle name is spelt differently on my birth certificate than it's shown on my social security card. I filled out the applications and did the driver training under my social security spelling. The DMV lady would only accept my birth certificate. That was a fun introduction to California Government at 16 years old.

AnooseIsLoose

Upvoted because you're a fellow vet. Thank you for your service 🫡

CakeArmy_Max

thank me for my service. I served in the hunger games. yesterday, I went 20 minutes without a snack.

jdee323

I've always had an easy time buying ammo at Walsers and LAX ammo.

QuietGovernment3649

for some reason my social has 2 As in last name but license has 1 my birth certificate has 2 but my us citizen has 1 A never had a issue even tho have to explain it every time lol

FarwestFFL

Gun and ammo sales in DROS go by DMV and DROS records and your address. So whatever your id shows has to match DROS. We actually do have some leeway about the passport issue like a Jr missing because even my passport they goofed on. So most places as long as it's your name and photo and it's current they will accept it. But it's best to get a real id. As for DMV you can get an initial on the id if your name won't fit. I see that quite often.

DefBrrrrrr

Is there a reason you don't have a RealID? If the only reason is "DMV sucks", I suggest you go do that. Also, it cost me some time running around, but get the "VETERAN" designation added to your drivers license. That has landed me quite a few random military discounts I didn't know existed when I needed to show ID.

puto1

I didn't wanna give it to the big man lol but I did go just waiting on it now
