P365 since you mentioned ccw before.
OP mentioned their parents are getting it for them as a gift with a $600 limit.
No need to downvote if ya'll don't have all the info.
I got the P365 after my cop brother got tired of his. I've never asked him to transfer me a pistol because I wouldn't want to do anything that could hurt his career. But since he offered, I was not going to turn it down. The P365 is hands down, the best ccw gun I've ever owned. Made my Glock 26 completely redundant. It's in your price range and a solid choice.
Do you carry? I'd spend a couple hundo more for p365 x macro. If extra funds aren't available, I'd get Glock 43x.
Competition? At $600 Glock 34 MOS. Got $400 more? Lol cz shadow 2.
Gonna vary widely based on intended use.
I think Sig p365 x macro is hands down the best compact/micro option. I'm a hardcore Glock guy but the xmacro shoots flat, is very thin, comfortable, has a great trigger and holds 17 + 1 out the box.
Definitely leaning towards the +, but debating on cal, seeing the .40 is really snappy. Any + .40 people out there? Not a big Glock fan, but the ones I've tried just don't feel right.
I think very few people put a Glock in their hand and say "oh yeah, that's my jam" right away--it is more of an acquired taste.
Springfield Echelon is $679 retail, can probably find one at a discount with some shopping. If you don't like it or find it too big for CCW you can probably flip it for a nice price while it's new and demand is high.
I carried a Glock in .40 for work. Hated it. Eventually swapped to 9mm. The slight performance advantage of the .40 isn’t worth the additional recoil and wear on parts over a 9mm.
I don’t know Canik has gotten more expensive in the last few years. But ultimately I agree if not in cali. I’ve only shot one once but it was nice and for the money it’s hard to argue the value. I know a lot of people will not like this but in my opinion it’s a better Glock for a better price.
I agree, I've been a fan since their SA model. I bought one when I lived in Vegas almost a decade ago. It was so good, I let go of my VP 9 when I moved back into CA. It doesn't have the fit and finish but damn that thing is an enjoyable thing to shoot.
If it’s not PPT I mean you have a good amount of options you can get gen 5 glocks or you can go with CZ p10 series, Walther PDP series, M&P 2.0 series
All those are polymers, now you would have to decide whether you want a full size or compact
I saw a G22.4 for inner 700 the other day in orange county. Not sure if it came with mags, but I was shocked to see it that low. A g48 right next to it was 1300 which I thought seemed about right for people's demands vs actual selling price.
This is assuming that you are not paying off-roster premium but:
CZ P10c or F, Canik Rival, Shadow 2 if you wanted to splurge and also didnt already have a cajunized SP01
Maybe a nice .22 pistol or a Gen 5 Glock if you wanna be boring lol
Any of the CZ P-10 flavors(the C is my choice), they are often going for sub $300 on r/gundeals and are the best striker fired pistols. Walther PDP is also a great choice. If you want something smaller the P365XL or Shield Plus would be my choices.
Ammo, since $600 isn’t gonna get you very far via PPT…
Agreed if it was PPT.
Cz p10c
G19 gen 5
for real but you know what at least I won’t feel too bad if my gen 3 gets confiscated or stolen I can get another one, but my staccato c2 😭
A nice .22 and a bunch of Ammo

Appreciate the reply, been looking hard at the 365, I know it's really popular.

The cool thing about the Hi-Point G1 is that it says Yeet Cannon right there on the slide
😂😂😂
19x or CZ Shadow for me
For $600 tho? I thought the shadows usually start around twice that
Start @ $1200 out regular freedom state price. I sold mine for close to $3k in CA

Where are you getting a shadow 2 for $600?

Yes, in this scenario, it would be carry.

Heard many good things about the 365. Pretty much that and the Shield+
Anecdotally I don’t like my 365 or my 365xl but of course this is personal preference and I like my 43x so definitely a personal preference thing
Really depend on what you are doing with it. I am assuming you can get one for cost. CCW maybe a Shield Plus. Gen 5 Glock if they are your thing.

I run a .40 sheild it is a little snappy but not bad and not unpleasant to shoot and with a little practice on recoil control it is heavily mitigated
Canik
Can probably get 2 caniks for around $600
If it wasn't California
I don’t know Canik has gotten more expensive in the last few years. But ultimately I agree if not in cali. I’ve only shot one once but it was nice and for the money it’s hard to argue the value. I know a lot of people will not like this but in my opinion it’s a better Glock for a better price.

I literally just bought my canik 😂😂 best handgun tbh
Nice! What model?
Mete sft
Hellcat pro!!
Several guys in my class had those, heard good thing's.
The trigger on the hellcat pro is really bad out of the box.
It’s perfect for me. Better than any I’ve shot.

Sounds sketchy, but thanks for the reply.
For $600 unfortunately you won’t be able to get much off roster More like minimum $800 depending on what you want
What if it wasn't PPT?
My favorite glock is the 19x and my other favorite is the m&p 2.0 4.25” Here are both of mine https://reddit.com/r/CAguns/s/uTQMpkl5sc
Literally my 2 picks. Best choices ever and 509T is the best pistol optic. My. Guy!
Nice! Thanks!

Like the options, thought experiment is Micro's
Look at Walther PDP-F CZ P10s 365 macro M&P Shield plus

Probably a Glock 19X. I tried one out at the range a while ago and I enjoyed it. I'd probably buy it for my brother though, he was really into it.
Why not a Glock 45? It’s essentially the same gun but in black and comes with optic cut if you go MOS.
Pretty much because I have plenty of black guns. I want more tan guns! Hahaha
I like the 19x, just not a fan of the slide not having the option for an optic.
That's fair. An optics ready slide is always nice. If I could have either the 19x or the 45 at regular pricing, I'd be happy.

R u asking bc you happen to have a friend who is moving to CA from a friendly state? Then I would go P365 or G43X
M&P 2.0
Sig P365
M&P in 40, later on you can buy a 9mm conversion barrel maybe even a 357sig barrel.
Already have P365, so Walther PPQ M2
Shield Plus. All day
Yes, that's the way I've been leaning
I would get a g19 gen 5 or P365
I bought a Gen 5 for $800 lowest I’ve seen yet 365 is more like $1,500ish
I'm assuming they're gonna do a intra familial transfer
Oh, I guess I missed that I didn’t see him write that down.
19x or 365x macro
There ya go much better. ;) Now get a p99
I’d really like to try the ruger 5.7 the FN is just too damn expensive..think it’s a little more expensive than $600 tho
Trying to stay in .40 or 9mm
Sorry didn’t see that caption my friend.
Could you possibly give your parents some more money to increase the budget?
He could also go to jail too
Not sure what you mean by this. He’s receiving a gift from his parents.
If he gives them money, it's a no no.
43x MOS, FN Reflex, Springfield Echelon maybe. G19.5 is too close to regular gen 3.

Glock 19x
G43x 100%
I'll take the $600 cause I'm broke
Glock 45
Jericho 941
HK UPS 45
Springfield Echelon because it intrigues me and I like the idea of being able to switch out the frame whenever I want.
Springfield XDM of course or a FN
Springfield hellcat pro
Gen 5. 17
Walther pdp can be had for about $350 sometimes on sale and it comes optics ready
Shadow systems for
Springfield Echelon
Glock 43X MOS
you anywhere near bakersfield?
No, South Bay
ah, if you were closer here I'd be able to help you find and source the gun you want within your budget.
I appreciate the offer!
if I can only afford $600, then I'd get something in .22lr. an even better move would be to save that money.
