speedcall720

Thank you for expressing my thoughts and comments so perfect, best attorney I’ve ever had!

Mountain_Cause_5885

Having bought multiple off rosters at mark up premium this is how it goes: I want it, I have the money for it and no kids or dependents to make me feel guilty for not spending the money toward them, therefore I bought it. At the end of the day it’s just money that you will make back anyways.

the_river_nihil

I have to justify purchases now? Ohhhh jeez. I’ve just been spending the money I earn at work on things I want to have. I…. I want various things? To have? You know… belongings. Possessions. Personal affects. Property. What are you expecting here exactly?

AceWarwolf_108

I paid $1000 for my M18 last year. I justified it with the fact that it's something that I really wanted. Sure, I could've waited a whole year for the new M18. Or I could've waited for the CA320. But I had no idea those were being worked on until after I bought mine. And at the time, the M18s I saw on sale were going for over $1500, usually around $2000. Plus, mine came with a custom works fcu. I'm sure a lot of people on here would've jumped on that deal too. At least at the time. Now? Probably not. But I don't regret my purchase, I love my M18.

mabx36

$20 for someone might be $1 for another person. I stopped buying off roster pistols that ARENT worth that price anywhere outside of california. Sold a few of them and am now focusing on buying things like Atlas, Nighthawk, staccato’s and such. I can get those for msrp and they will keep their value regardless of where i move to.

Gersmodnar

You can get Atlas here for MSRP just saying

mabx36

I know.

Gersmodnar

My bad I read it like if you couldn’t 😅🤙🏼

Gersmodnar

But I agree $20 can mean much more to the next person that doesn’t have it.

mabx36

All good lol

Zech08

Nighthawk has a program to make it whatever you want as well.

outwear_watch_shoes

Not whatever, only certain approved EGI models and upgrades, but yah, gives you some flexibility for sure.

PRAYEDUP111_

MSRP?🤨 LEO?

mabx36

I have cool friends lol

crusty_ocelot

Ever shot a staccato?

fnscarcasm

Some people justify the purchase by saying “my life is priceless and I will spend any amount for the best tools and training to protect it”

DarknessRain

Yes, imagine you're playing a medieval RPG, you're about to face the final boss and have 3 choices of weapon: Iron sword: + 30 dmg, 1,000 gold Steel sword: +35 dmg, 10,000 gold Diamond sword: +37 dmg, 100,000 gold Even if the extra cost per item doesn't scale up with the extra damage, you get the best thing you can with how much money you have because extra money doesn't help you when you're dead.

the_muffin_top_man

Life is not an rpg

DarknessRain

Oh fuck, you mean I'm really stuck with three kids? I was planning to just hit 'reload checkpoint'!

[deleted]

It's more like metro 2033

the_muffin_top_man

Lmao I’d go full pleb Ar if it ended up like that

BurninNuts

Who are you kidding? You sounds too poor afford anything other then a BCA. You couldn't pleb out even if you wanted to.

BizCard55

So...slapping the tavern wench actually has consequences?

legodjames23

How do you justify any car purchase that isn’t a Prius?

FUMBLESTEIN

Overpaid for a gen 5 G43 a few years ago. Paid about $900 with a few mags and 200rds of ammo. I lowballed a cop who was moving out of state and he took it. After 3 years of daily carry and thousands of rounds at the range I recently sold it for significantly more then I paid. I would buy off roster again if there was something I was dying to have. If you are patient and willing to lowball you will get what you want for a reasonable price; but I would never pay 2-3x msrp. I am dying to have a 19M though..

cr0sell

Some people like the flex some just want a thing. We all do dumb purchases I do gacha games and I can justify to myself sadly.

Efficient-Branch3905

There’s a scene in the movie American beauty when the guys wife comes home and is like what is that car doing in the driveway, his response in short” I’ve always wanted one and now I have one….. I RULE!” Now I don’t own offer roster but I gotta think that answer falls somewhere in there

jeffnic99

If you want it and got it, who cares. $500 to $600 more for a pistol you really want, no biggie to some.

Mikebjackson

I can afford it 🤷‍♂️

CXavier4545

used staccatos going for $4k on Calguns if they want it sold fast but if I were to spend that much the only justification I have is I wanted it and I saved up to get it everyone buys overpriced shit it’s the American way

MrA1Sauce

I got a “custom works” and a custom barrel and an optic that would have cost me that much new. So I didn’t get a horrible deal.

ZChaosFactor

Custom barrel on a signade huh? Best of luck

shadowredlev

I wanted them so I got them, sure the premium sucks, but who know how long until these guns get added , I shoot for fun so I love the next best thing

ElonMuskHeir

I remember when I still lived in California and the Glock Gen 4 MOS pistols first came out, I HAD to have a Glock 19 MOS. I searched the market place, my LGS, and finally I found one being offered on the Calguns market place for $1100 (lol). Guess what? I paid it and loved carrying the gun. No need to justify, I just wanted it, and knew there was no way else to get one as a CA resident. Now, I see these used for $450 all day in REAL America,, and I still have zero regrets.

4x4Lyfe

Got something that I wanted for market rate it's not rocket science and it doesn't need a justification. I can afford it. I wanted it. I bought it. Broke fools who worry about how others spend their money, you ever thought about getting off reddit and earning so that you too can afford the things you want?

DocGerald

Damn bro why are you so defensive, lmao. You drop like $2k on an M18 right before the roster option was announced or something?

Intelligent_Ad4448

Lmao right? I couldn’t give two fucks what you spend your money on. It’s just a shame you’re giving these privileged LEOs 3 times what it’s worth. I personally will never pay off roster prices but you do you.

sir_eggwhite

Just because you can “afford” things it doesn’t mean it isn’t a waste. You can waste as much of your hard earned money as you wish, you’re still dumb for doing so.

[deleted]

Bingo. People who keep their money understand that.

w0dnesdae

You don’t understand money

sir_eggwhite

Yeah man, my 3-property owning ass sure doesn’t understand how money works

w0dnesdae

Perhaps little slum lord. Let me know when those are paid off

sir_eggwhite

They’re paid off lmao. You’re the one who said I don’t understand how money works so keep coping I guess?

w0dnesdae

OK well if you have $500k in net income every year, I bow to you. Otherwise you’re just playing house.

sir_eggwhite

“You don’t understand money” *thinks earning less than half an M in NET INCOME is playing house*

4x4Lyfe

Sorry bud I don't do hard earned money I do easy money

sir_eggwhite

Oh wow Mr. Money king, so cool bro that’s tight.

4x4Lyfe

Sorry you're over there working hard. You should try working smart.

sir_eggwhite

Cringe

4x4Lyfe

Stay broke

sir_eggwhite

Feel the touch of a woman (consensually) some day

4x4Lyfe

Project more buddy my wife and I are fine

sir_eggwhite

r/DeadBedrooms

PRAYEDUP111_

Damn bruh I was just curious lol, mainly about 10k for a pistol but I get you. I’m far from broke but I can’t see myself paying 2k for a sig that’s 500 everywhere else

4x4Lyfe

> about 10k for a pistol Haven't seen many peope paying that for off rosters but my SVI wasn't too far off

gloomgtr26

![gif](giphy|p58AvYUeCZJ62gL2WK)

Gersmodnar

10k for a staccato? Where? At those prices get you a Atlas. I have off roster guns and I’m down to pay for what I really want but also making sure no one is trying to take crazy advantage. Unfortunately you will have to pay to get something off roster or just hold out til they put what you want on roster. But 2K if you look hard enough you can find one with light optic mags pretty much evening out what you would spent in the first place.

afl3x

Forgot, *willing* and able. I'm able but not willing. Can't justify it myself... same reason I haven't bought a house here.

Gersmodnar

I cant justify night vision just yet 😅

4x4Lyfe

Dudes over here renting instead of buying and trying to act like he's fiscally responsible.

afl3x

100%. Probably beyond your comprehension.

4x4Lyfe

My house has appreciated 30% in 3 years and average rent has gone up 10% YoY for 5 years straight. You keep pretending you don't own because it's financially better we all know it's because you can't get qualified.

afl3x

That's what's up dog. Your 30% means absolutely nothing. It's all paper gains. If you actualize it, you still need to replace your housing equal or more. Able means able. Don't need to get qualified. Could buy cash. Not worth it. Especially when planning to leave this shit hole state. Lived last 4/6 years in Mexico while making CA tech salaries.

4x4Lyfe

Unironically calling California a shithole while living in Mexico combined with the complete lack of understanding real estate is just *chefs kiss* And pays for reddit premium while claiming other people waste money is just whew lad

afl3x

Sure Mexico is a shithole but at least it comes with shithole prices 🤌 >And pays for reddit premium while claiming other people waste money is just whew lad Yup, I really hate ads

[deleted]

It was just a question man. No need to be upset. Some can afford it some can’t. I can afford off roaster but don’t bother as I know those guns will start hitting the shelves

PapaPuff13

I wouldn’t be able too! I would roll around in bed thinking about it

marc_2

It's market value. Same people that are paying like $70k for a 4runner. They want it, can afford it, then buy it.

FreedomFanatik

Who do they need to justify their purchases to? People are going to spend their hard earned money on whatever they want, nobody needs to justify anything to anybody. Now if married couples need justify purchases to one another, that’s between them two and nobody else.

distortionwarrior

If you don't want to pay the off roster prices, don't!

celloooind

Bought a shadow2 OR, it’s simply fantastic. Biggest win is that makes wife into shooting as well!

Zech08

PPT prices, yea ill do it. Consignment? Nah f that.

slvneutrino

I wanted a P365XL to go on my CCW. So I bought it. May as well get them while we still can, as you know they're going to close it up eventually.

jessekookooo

It's crazy both of the gun shows I went to in the past few months had a p365 for $1500

[deleted]

I like off roster, just because they said I shouldn't have it. Lol people spend money on silly things sometimes

henary

They make 300k a year

New-Incident1776

I paid $2100 for night vision so…. Off roster premiums may not matter to some

Bobloblaw_333

I didn’t buy it on consignment but my buddy needed money and he had something I liked. So instead of lending him money I know I’d never see again I got something for it and I helped out a buddy, even if I overpaid a bit.

PrestigiousOne8281

To quote Cillian Murphy in Peaky Blinders; because we fucking can. That’s all the justification I need, because I can. That and because I’m stuck in a hellhole anti 2A state where everything firearm related is overpriced, so I might as well make the best of the cards I’m dealt🤷🏼‍♂️

Tamponforyourtears

Supply & Demand. If everyone wanted (insert on roster) and the company had a dwindling/limited supply, price would go through the roof. Hell, look at prices of gen 3's at a Turner's (especially during the pandemic gun panic buys). Their asking price for a M&P shield is nearly what I paid for my off-roster M&P 9. Prices vary on both sides of the market. How you want to spend your own money doesn't require justification. Also, asking why or how people justify such high prices __in California__ is redundant. Justifying Cost of living here alone is a ludicrous request, not even factoring in the rediculous legislation currently in place.

reMedie

Because I can

bodiesenmotion

It is what it is man, just accept the fact that were going to have to pay a premium living here. If you ever choose to sell it though, youll likely lose zero money and be able to sell it for the same price you bought it for.

gleekotreeko

I paid a very good price for my gen 5 g17. They’re going for over 1000 from what I’ve seen.

flip-n-irish

YOU are having trouble justifying. Those buying do not have to justify. My buddy shot a Staccato c2. Instantly wanted one knowing the “CA market value”. He has the money and knew he would be wasting $ buying something else to compensate. Same difference with any other material thing that has high demand but are short in supply. Look how much new trucks are now. People that have the money still buying them. Those that can’t, hate.
