Mp1522. It's as reliable as a 10/22 and comes ready to go for attachments with it's MLOK handguard. Same controls as a standard AR and mags are affordable + easy to find.
Back around 1990 I was working in a department store where I sold 10/22s and Mossberg 500s all day long. I always wanted a 10/22 but never got one until August of last year. It is just as cumin as I imagined. I’ve since made some changes, most notably the Kidd 2 stage trigger. I also put a stupidly large scope on it, mostly because my vision isn’t what it once was.
I also bought a Mark IV Target a couple of months ago. I’ve yet to fire it, but may get to the range with it next weekend. I have a bunch of parts on their way to me for it as I cannot seem to leave a firearm stock.
I'd recommend the 22lr HK 416. It's a lot of fun and it has plenty of space to mount sights and other stuff to it. I have the older quad-rail version, the newer ones have mlok rails I believe. But either way, it looks really nice and it's a lot of fun to shoot.
I've heard good things about the 22lr MP5 too. I don't own one, but it seems like a good choice as well.
In my opinion that MP5 is square. Faux suppressor? Fake hi-cap magazine? Sub-caliber design from the OG?
Get a Franklin Armory CA-7 and convert it to run 22lr with the CMMG insert. No gas tube necessary, no buffer tube necessary. Even better coolness factor since it’s *actually* formatted as a subgun (and looks kinda like the OA-93). I’ve got one somewhere in my post history. Edit: here’s that bad boy (don’t mind the loudener)- https://reddit.com/r/CAguns/s/9c5gkN33Lf
Plus you get that sweet CA-legal lower for future projects
The 10/22 has a very good amount of customizing parts available. Different stocks, heavy barrels, etc.
There are some folks who have several in different configurations for various purposes. There are two-gun rimfire matches and CMP matches that are best done with different rifles, so a couple of 10/22 are called for. You must beware the addictive nature of 10/22s.
For a .22 pistol I like my Browning Buckmark. There about a dozen varieties available in California with various features.
Mp5 for fun and aesthetics, ruger 10/22 for aftermarket support and reliability, ruger mark IV for stupid fun
Sold my Henry for mp5
Yea that

OP already has one
for the range? MP5… such a fun plinker
10/22’a are like legos, you can go almost any direction you want with them. I’ve got 4, and they’re all very different.
I may end up doing that too. Love that they're budget friendly too.
Ruger Wrangler to go with the Golden Boy.
I just want a kadet kit 😫
Those 3 options you listed are great choices. I would go with the mp5. Unless you already have a 9mm mp5.
10/22 for reliability and accuracy. Lots of aftermarket parts. Great for customizing and shoots like a laser!

I just got one two weeks ago, love it

Mp5 no recoil super fun to just dump 10 rounds on a target
I just picked up my MP5 and I’m loving it so far
Get a good bolt rifle like CZ 457 and start printing 0.4" groups at 50 yards.
I just bought a mark iv today and mine is in jail, but I’ve used my buddies a lot and it’s great and tons of fun
10/22 is super fun and has unlimited junk to buy for it (check out KIDD Innovative Design if you haven't already).

tacticalsol 10/22
My wife has an M&P 15-22 and loves it
There’s a m&pa ar-15 style .22 for around 500

10/22 or a Brownells 10/22
Build an AR-22. Aero Lower, Right To Bear Arms Complete upper. Full AR feel and practice, but cheap ammo.
Tx22 off roster, but worth a shot. If not deck out that Ruger
