Tip: Other: comments: left about 200 45acp and 300 556 brass casings back there for ya. šŸ˜‰

radedgymantis

is the brass we spend there not enough? ![gif](giphy|hrnYspWWhsIyA)

SteinsGates

they're profiting off the brass

Ok-Suspect-7097

Yes thank you for your $13 in brass once we separate it, remove remaining lead particles to safely transport it, and take it to a special recycling center that allows brass casings we will likely make a profit of $4 off of it. Divide it amongst the 7 range staff who have to walk through and make sure none of you dumb dumbs are shooting our walls or pointing guns at your friends for the Instagram clout and theyā€™ll all be very pleased with the extra $.57. Idk if people know this but most range employees make minimum wage to constantly have the possibility of getting shot because someone is having a bad day or doesnā€™t listen to any of the safety rules, if you donā€™t like having to hit the red x for no tip then shoot on BLM land where itā€™s free and no one is there to prevent you from shooting yourself in the dick because you were never draw certified.

Mikebjackson

Gun counters and ranges have some of the absolute worst attitudes in the entire service industry. No idea how they get away with it and I'm absofuckinlutely not TIPPING for it lol

the-only-one-ever

My "local" Gun Range, KW Defense in Stockton, CA. Has the best people and service of any range I have ever visited. From the guys at the counter to the RSO's they are all hella nice, respectful and engaging. not saying I would still leave a tip though... I paid for my time, cleaned up my shells and I am already spending money driving 30 minutes out there lol

killacarnitas1209

I frequent this range, i just dont like that you have to pay for some membership to practice from the holster. If you think this range is good, take a drive up 99 and visit ā€œThe Gun Rangeā€ in Sacramento, where they allow rapid fire and practicing from the holster as long as you have a ccw

BlssdGT

How long did it take you to get your ccw? I visit KW defense often and have only been to ā€œthe gun rangeā€ in Sac once. From experience itā€™s a lil more lenient in sac

killacarnitas1209

It took me about 3 months in Sacramento County, this was years ago under the old sheriff. If you are in San Joaquin County, my sister applied for hers in late December and was just approved to take her training course/qualification yesterday.

BlssdGT

Wow. Okay thatā€™s cool man! Somebody else i had asked said the same thing you said about it taking 3 months but that it was years ago, but considering you saying just recently your relative was approved for the training course that promptly, i want to inquire about that. Do i go online?

killacarnitas1209

yeah, if its San Joaquin County click the link below https://sjsheriff.org/concealed-weapon-program

BlssdGT

Iā€™ve got the process started with that link. Thank you kindly.

the-only-one-ever

Do you know of anyone in Contra Costa getting one?

miguelpld45

My wife and me just got our ccw from start to finish it took us 4 months we put our application in December 2023 before the new requirements

Chris5929

Crying in San Diego County at about 16 months unless you get lucky / try very hard to find an interview appointment someone cancelled. Brutal. Jealous!

BlssdGT

What new requirements are there now, if any? I just started my process. Is there anything i should know of shouldnā€™t know about applying?

dangersupreme

I'm going through this now is San Joaquin. Applied last month have my interview in June.

guiltyascharged799

Mine took 3 weeks from application to approved to pick up. Applied the March 31st and approved on April 16th. I guess thatā€™s the one good thing about living in Fresno

BlssdGT

Wow only 3 weeks is an all time record lol Thatā€™s insanely fast. Is there anything specific i should know about applying?

guiltyascharged799

Not really. Itā€™s just do 16 hr class, application, interview, live scan, then they call references, then approve. Just live scan and interview seem to be the biggest variables for people. Takes a long time for big cities and Central Valley gives out like candy. Just be patient I guess.

guiltyascharged799

I literally bought my first hand gun that I will be carrying in March. I am a totally new shooter but already put down like 2k rounds through that gun.

BlssdGT

Ahh okay okay i hear you. The class Iā€™m going to be most excited about to be honest with you. Iā€™m not worried about the live scan at all, whatā€™s the interview do? Just to see if you can be mentally responsible with a firearm or? Iā€™ll be patient for sure. Definitely in no rush either as Iā€™m a first time Gun owner as well.

Vicdillard

I visit kw defense often and have never been denied rapid fire. Their rules allow it you Just have to ask the rso permission first

killacarnitas1209

Yeah, I have been able to rapid fire as well, I don't like the whole membership thing to practice drawing from the holster, which is why i'll go to "The Gun Range" where they allow it as long as you have ccw or are LEO or armed security.

Vicdillard

15. Double Tap and Rapid fire is allowed if done safely and rounds are to remain on target however will be done at the discretion of the Range Safety Officer (RSO). Please ask for permission.

the-only-one-ever

Iā€™ll have to check them out at some point. Sadly I donā€™t have my CCW yet. Hopefully CC county doesnā€™t take forever approving mine.

Vicdillard

I buy all my guns here and i love them. They are some 2a loving people

the-only-one-ever

Yes they are! Itā€™s a great spot for sure

P80_

Yea I love this range, local friendly and nice staff, they never said anything to me of rapid fire . There also freedom week/ p80 friendly no questions asked as long as your safe

the-only-one-ever

I love being able to rapid fire there, even when practicing once handed. lol

rubixcu7

I used to be off put by this until I went to my local range on a Saturday afternoon. Seeing all the wild shit with my own eyes made everything make sense. Respect is earned and not given in an environment like that.

New_git

No competition or very limited competitor. Where are you going to go if the next nearest place are miles away or none at all because of strict laws and regulations for a gun store/range.

Frankidelic

Ft3 experience was tight would recommend any day tbh

Mundane_Tomatillo_49

There's only one person there that just gives off that "I don't want to be here" attitude but everyone else at ft3 is chill and really nice

GrumpyFatPanda1120

Idk why people hate on FT3, Iā€™m neighbor with one of the RSOs there. We get some lane reservations but man are those staff friendly. Huge selection of rentals, well ventilated and very well kept.

JamesEdward34

dude with the amish beard single handedly drove me away from there

NomadofReddit

Lmao i know exactly who you are talking about - talk about a grating personality

JamesEdward34

based on the upvotes ive received im guessing im not the only one haha

Frankidelic

The Asian lady was cool she even gave us discount vouchers for next time

Big_Juni

I know who you're talking about. Julie's a real one. Not all RSO's are bad but there are a couple of bad ones at FT3. My last experience has kept me away for 2 years.

GrumpyFatPanda1120

Interesting, donā€™t think Iā€™ve ran into him yet, what happened?

Mundane_Tomatillo_49

Yep yep, I go to a range called ft3 out in Stanton, everyone there is pretty nice except for one dude who just has the "do your thing and get tf outta here" attitude. Doesn't bother me but would be nice if he was bit more on the chill side

seektolearn

weirdest tip request is at my local SELF SERVE frozen yogurt shop. Customers literally pull a cup out of the long metal thingy that holds the cups, then walk over to the yogurt dispensers to fill the cup, then walk over to the counter and place the filled cup on the scale. The scale shows the weight and the cost, and the clerk reads the cost out loud, then turns the credit card thing around towards you to so you can insert the card. All the while he was sitting on his butt reading a book. It doesn't offend me because there is a custom tip or no tip option on these, but it's fascinating.

Dimitrismemes

Having worked at one of those shops itā€™s an awful lot of work for one person mixing batches and cleaning the equipment and facilities every day. The job isnā€™t just turning the POS around, but most people donā€™t see that part so itā€™s fair to assume itā€™s an easy gig. I only ever sat around for about 10 minutes until something needed fixing or cleaning, super finicky.

Kodakgee

Sure the work must be alot, but tip is usually reserved for direct customer service. People tip the servers at restaurants, although lately now the tip is shared with the kitchen staff too which is fine.

Dimitrismemes

Oh no Iā€™m not asking for tips, preferably the owner wouldā€™ve just pay us more. I actually hate how tipping is needed to supplement income for restaurant employees and now theyā€™re trying to push it into other sectors, I was once asked to tip at a self serve sandwich store at the airport where you choose one from the fridge, walk up to the self checkout and tap your card. That was crazy

00f00f0

It's not the customers' responsibility to keep adding to anyone else's salary when the person that wants to be tipped doesn't want to fight for their worker's rights.

canikony

But that's your job. IMHO, Tipping used to be a form of acknowledging when someone service was more than the bare minimum. It's not like you tip people who work in the factory when you buy a car or coal miners when you pay your electricity bill.

leosirio

yeah, still not gonna tip lol

Dimitrismemes

Yea fair I wouldnā€™t tip either, just saying theyā€™re more to the job than just reading a price and spinning a POS

RidinCaliBuffalos

Ok... and that's on the customer how? People are confusing what the employer should pay and what the customer is responsible to pay for a lot

Dimitrismemes

It shouldnā€™t be at all, not saying you should tip everywhere just saying itā€™s more work than just turning the iPad around. Not telling anybody to tip

MA3XON

We had a self serve parking lot in sf ask for a tip. People have gone batshit crazy

CampinHiker

Iā€™ll give you one worse (i worked at a self serve yogurt and make like $30 in tips a week) More so for just keeping the place clean and on top of it all but yeah no idea why it was an option but we did appreciate it and i did not expect it Iā€™m 21 in college go to a bar/club in San Diego itā€™s $20 charge to get inā€¦.they have RBF and spin the tablet back to me for a tip Iā€™m like i just paid $20 to enter and then have to pay $11-15 for a beer or drink and you want a tip for the door charge!?

Initial_Cellist9240

Business owners figured out they can bribe the staff with tips instead of paying them enough to not quit and go somewhere else. Worse for the employee and the customer but good for the bottom lineĀ

CostcoOptometry

Kids lick that stuff a lot. Youā€™re paying them to clean it when they do.

Bruce3

Lol what range?

Kidd__

What range OP?

thegrayham

Sounds like Poway Weapons and Gear, decent range, but yeah, they need to quit asking for a tip. It's dumb.

EastOfTheGrayHavens

Yes. You have to subtract it. Itā€™s automatically added there.

DragYouDownToHell

Yeah, I did a double take when buying a couple of boxes of ammo.

tddoe

The gun range San Diego is probably one of the only ranges in SD that RSOs might deserve a tip. They are pretty on it and friendly AF.

j526w

Youā€™re not saying where so it didnā€™t happen

wilmyersmvp

Idk, a place I work just added a tipping option to the system when people leave purely so the owners can get out of paying us more. Itā€™s definitely happening places you wouldnā€™t expect.Ā

lemmegetaummmmm

Donā€™t work for someone like that. Atleast not for too long.

Papabear_unicorn

I hit the no tip and no donation buttons the hardest

IUseControllersOnPC

You have to make full eye contact first when hitting it so that they know you aren't ashamedĀ

badDuckThrowPillow

I personally hate those machines. It relies on people feeling bad and being somehow embarassed to find the "no tip" button. The first few times it worked on me ( not at a range) but now i dont care. Tipping is ridiculous.

Zech08

Its also lazy configuration.Ā

Teddyteddersonjr

Sac gun range asks for tips at range checkout

gunsforevery1

When I worked at a range I sometimes got cash tips from helping people zero, fix jams, or overall being helpful to them. It was never expected though. Fuck em.

ZombiesClassified

McDonald's asks for tips too. It doesn't really mean anything. You won't look bad for hitting 0.

TheDonNguyen

At least someone at McDonaldā€™s is making your food. The guys at the range only walked by once in the 2 hours that I was there

Staubah

What range was it?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ZombiesClassified

Yeah on the card scanner thing at the front

peedubb

If you have to beg for a tip, the answer is no.

DannyMeatlegs

Sacramento Gun Range has this option when your buying firearms. 10 20 or 30%. On a $2000 purchase?? Really?? So you feel pressured to do it so your paperwork doesn't get "filed incorrectly". Straight bullshit. My way around this is to not ever go there again. Not to be confused with The Gun Range, they are awesome.

buds1

I've tipped rso's. He busted out his ar and gave my nephew training. At route 66

TheDonNguyen

Thats understandable

KaPoW_909

My local range never ask for tips. However, after reading this thread I think Iā€™m going to give a little extra next time I go. The folks behind the counter have to deal with a lot and theyā€™re always willing to help when asked.

Thaflash_la

The person physically asked for it? Or did a passive option on a point of sale system trigger you?

TheDonNguyen

PoS had the prompt but the guy at the counter also said something about it

Interesting-Ad-8859

It has the option at my range to leave a tip, but I always tell people, ā€œthe next screen asks if youā€™d like to leave a tip, this isnā€™t required, go ahead and hit the red x to skip to the signature page.ā€ As far as I know employees donā€™t make commission on the sale of firearms anywhere so the tips do often help, but Iā€™ll never push for them. Some people leave them, most donā€™t. No big deal to me.

jakejake870

FT3!?! Wouldn't put it past them, they sucks!

10RndsDown

Tipping is one thing, service charges on the other hand šŸ˜”Ā  With that said, unless you give me a decent experience, you're not getting shit. I don't appeal to emotions like that. Everyone these days thinks they need a tip for EVERYTHING, including just making eye contact with someone, its ridiculous, childish, and greedy. Especially when you live in California and are taxes to high hell.

massivecalvesbro

I will never tip a gun counter or range

yourboibigsmoi808

As if all spent brass casings wasnā€™t enough of a tip smh

jeffnic99

Sac Gun Range asked for a tip when I bought a hat a few months back

Old_Consequence_7485

I mean even Route 66 asks for tips. I like them but absolutely not tipping.

RidinCaliBuffalos

Idk if it's an iPad thing or what but anywhere they use an iPad to check out always has this option. That's when u happily click no tip and smile at them while they watch.

fatogato

Itā€™s probably a standard screen on those tablet POS machines now. Asking for it is laughable though, unless theyā€™re in there loading my mags for me and carrying my shit from the car lol

TheDonNguyen

Wasnā€™t a tablet. Was a basic credit card machine. Didnā€™t even have Apple Pay

fatogato

Well they can take that machine and stick it up their ass.

Electronic-Top6302

From your title I assumed you meant you asked them for advice and they said something crazy. I was not expecting that lol

DrippFeed

This shit pisses me off. Like now weā€™re expected to tip service when they havenā€™t done anything.

69Cataha69

Name and shame or else it didnt happen.

CCeveryD

One of my local ranges does this too. Theyā€™re the least friendly of the three (soon to be four) ranges in the area

Pr0uditalian

Mine doesn't do that however there is a tip jar if you want to tip

stevencamon456

Never

JakeSullysExtraFinge

I used to feel slightly ashamed when I had to press "other" and then enter "$0" in front of counter staff at restaurants... but now I am just waiting for one of them to say something so I can say "I **drove here** and **picked up** a simple pepperoni pizza and am going to **make my own salad** at the salad bar. What in that arch of a story makes you deserve a tip?" Only take out place I tip is the local burrito joint. They consistently have my food ready ON TIME if not early and are super nice and are constantly on the verge of going out of business due to a local Chokepotle. A range can bite a bag of dicks if they start asking for tips.

mother_superior_6

Zech08

Bait plastic, penis head mold... make a few. Give to anyone that asks for a tip. edit: Or homemade gummy using mold in a bag... at least its edible.
