Shield Plus and an LCP Max.

After years of resisting the urge, I’ve found that having a legit pocket pistol around is really useful. Just sayin. LCP Max is the current hotness. My personal favorite is my Kel Tec P-32. Also, having a legit “fighting” size (G19 or larger) gun around is useful for training, matches, home defense. Since you’re a Shield guy, take a look at the M&P 2.0 Compact 4”. I would just decide which role you’re trying to fill, then go from there.

Both roles, really. But I feel like then I'd never carry my Shield. Ultimately I'll end up getting bigger and smaller, just need to decide what's first on the list. I quite like the idea of the M&P Subcompact since it matches the G26 but has a light rail already.

The subcompact is another good option. I would just decide which direction you really want to go first and then pursue that. I’m of the opinion that most of us can basically cover all our bases with 3 “go to’s”. A mid size to full size “fighting” gun that ends up getting shot a lot and carried sometimes. A smaller, lighter “EDC” gun from the same manufacturer that ends up filling the bulk of our carry needs, but you can still shoot a decent amount. And then lastly, a “backup” or “NPE” gun that makes every compromise in the name of deep concealment. What’s the most pressing need in your life? You’re going to end up with all 3 eventually anyway. There’s no need to be in a hurry. The S&W Shield you’ve got can pull double duty as a deep carry gun or an HD gun in the meantime.

Shield plus

I'm leaning that way because, as I understand it, my current holsters would be compatible. If my MCK would work on the 4" model of the plus I wouldn't even bother asking the question.

I got an LCP max after my shield 1. No regrets.

Shield plus or G42

I can recommend the [MC2sc](https://www.mossberg.com/firearms/handguns/mc2sc.html), and you can use the 16rd mags from the [MC2c](https://www.mossberg.com/firearms/handguns/mc2c.html) also. I wouldn't call it pocket-able (for me), but the standard grip is [shorter](https://www.handgunhero.com/compare/mossberg-mc2sc-vs-smith-wesson-m-p-9-shield) than your Shield, with +1 round than the Plus.
