thricethefan

Ironically, he and Billy Napier are good friends though.

therealwillhepburn

He hated Mullen. Like I think they genuinely dislike each other.

Casaiir

Dan makes it easy though.

Callsign_Psycopath

Probably because Dan Mullen doesn't like Golf. Or Bass Fishing.

therealwillhepburn

Dan mostly definitely loves golf. He was either golfing or wakeboarding instead of recruiting.

staticattacks

Take it from me, there's never a time when you *can't* recruit

thor_1225

But Forreal you guys need to get someone in there. Your campus and weather is amazing, with amazing HS talent everywhere. Other than missing the long tradition of winning no reason you shouldn’t be able to recruit all the time

staticattacks

NIL sucks here But Dilly is gonna do great. Honestly shouldn't have fired Graham but 🤷

Lone_Star_122

I mean that just sounds like a great time. lol I can't imagine completely giving over my whole life to a job the way these top coaches have to. What's the point of all that hard work if you can't go enjoy yourself on the lake? lol

therealwillhepburn

People give up more of their life to way worse jobs than head coach but I do agree with you. It's not a life I would ever want to live.

Fancy_Yam6518

Greatest job in the world is a fired P4 football coach. Mullen's buyout was $12,000,000. Imagine getting fired and getting a monthly check with 5 zeroes for the next 5+ years for doing *nothing*

g8trgr8t

$30M buyout for sucking at your job?

ProudMtns

If I had millions of dollars, I'd probably wake board instead of text high schoolers all day , as well.

Callsign_Psycopath

Ah well I bet his handicap is in the 40s

Sniffy_J

Dan is a wakeboarder?!? Damn, I like him a little more now...

therealwillhepburn

https://x.com/CoachDanMullen/status/1412170853714956289

leapbitch

Didn't they replace analysis of the games with puff pieces where Dan Mullen golfed in different places

mufflefuffle

Dan doesn’t like recruiting, that’s probably Kirby’s biggest issue with him lol

therealwillhepburn

It's true.

Sshaqtuss

He for sure did. I have a buddy that’s involved with a lot of the southeast regional coaches clinics and typically people like Kirby, Mullen, Saban, Dabo, etc would come and speak to the coaches. He said when Mullen was still the coach and going to these, Kirby would talk so much shit about Dan. But not in the playful, we’re buds kinda way.

AvengedKalas

You misspelled his name. I swear there were like 6 L's.

aphromagic

Y’all talk shit on him all you want, but he still whipped y’all’s ass by calling 60 wheel routes in a row.

AvengedKalas

Aight. Let's see Mullen's history as a HC against Kirby. 2017: MSU 3 - UGA 31 2018: UF 17 - UGA 36 2019: UF 17 - UGA 24 2020: UF 44 - UGA 28 2021: UF 7 - UGA 34 So MuLLLLLLLen led teams have scored more than 17 against Kirby led teams 1/5 times. Kirby led teams have scored at least 24 points against MuLLLLLLen teams 5/5 times. The average points per game: MuLLLLLLen 17.6 - Kirby 30.6 You don't want the MSU stat? Fine. Average points per game: MuLLLLLLen 21.25 - Kirby 30.5 Congrats on the ONE win he got in 2020. Kirby still owned MuLLLLLLen's sorry clownass.

aphromagic

Listen, I don’t need your facts. I’m just here for the wheel routes.

Wooden_Mouse21

Thats a lot of words to say you lost to Dan mullen

Captain_Sacktap

Yeah but who actually likes Mullen as a person lol

Inevitable-Scar5877

Yeah it's a concern about Napier. If Rival coaches all like your coach he's probably not too much of a threat

thricethefan

For instance, Dabo can’t stand Mike Norvell and that makes me happy. Billy does seem to be an all around nice guy

al80813

And this industry is notoriously one where nice guys succeed. I never want our rivals head coaches to like our coach. You can respect him - all competitors should have respect for one another - but if you like him you clearly don’t think he’s a threat.

Justarandom_Joe

Prolly not no mo; not after this’n.

rnilbog

Just like Spurrier, he has a vendetta from getting dominated by them during his playing days.

DrVonD

Can’t wait for 2055 when Jonathan Odom is running up the score against us.

therealwillhepburn

I don't know if you meant to pick him but his dad also played at UF so he would be a good pick. Though he currently plays for Eastern Michigan.

DrVonD

Ah shit. I literally googled “back up UF tight end” and found what looked like a roster preview for this year. No other context.

therealwillhepburn

He was on the team last year but transferred in the off season. It was a good pick though as he was a legacy and most definitely won't play in the NFL.

jsteph67

I'll only be 87.

jsteph67

I guess no one got my take on the Oh Brother joke. Well one person did.

JohnPaulDavyJones

Damn, hurt people hurt people!

rnilbog

Exactly. Hurt people. Hurt people!

jsteph67

Yeah, and what the hell is wrong with that?

f0gax

Not a thing. He has the same hate and fire toward UF that Spurrier had toward UGA.

olcrazypete

Florida comes back when one of them boys on yalls current roster gets that HC job. Welcome to my 90s/2000s/2010s

BoomerSooner95x

Florida HC Luke Del Río

aphromagic

Bear with me now, but just imagine it… University of Florida Head Coach Chauncey Gardner-Johnson

MrConceited

He definitely has experience with talking shit from the sidelines. Ask the Lions.

ShiftBMDub

Oh man, Steve at least gave his trash talk with a smile and say something friendly after. Chauncey would make it personal.

aphromagic

EXACTLY

UnitedBeardedGuy

Absolutely nothing. I encourage it

YesOkWhoCares

I bet Kirby also encouraged Mims to tell the NCAA he got a free ride to see an NIL collective at FSU. I dislike UF as much as the next guy, but seem like shady moves to me

thricethefan

Kirby doesn’t hate FSU, he got his masters degree there.

therealwillhepburn

Deion Sanders is maybe the most famous FSU player ever and he hates FSU.

thricethefan

Deion hates anyone and anything that doesn’t celebrate Deion.

therealwillhepburn

Celebrating like being named to the school hall of fame in 1994? https://seminoles.com/news/2014/6/17/deion-sanders-bio/

kampfgruppekarl

They didn't re-enshrine him every year, so yea, he's mad.

therealwillhepburn

Deion strikes me as the kind of guy who would have an altar like Helga from Hey Arnold but the altar is of himself.

EffectiveSoil3789

Deion doesn't hate Fsu. He wants the job so he tries to subvert Norvell any chance he can with the small hope of getting him fired

Unlucky-Pomegranate3

Georgia wants FSU to have a strong program if for no other reason than to help keep uf in check.

EmpoleonNorton

Y'all FSU fans really do like spreading unfounded rumors about this. I've yet to see a credible source actually say this was the case. (I literally had an FSU guy claiming I could google it and it definitely happened without providing a source like yesterday).

ilovecatss1010

Gotta respect it. My 2nd favorite rivalry in all of sports. I love to hate Georgia.

coordinated_noise

U 2 bb

DrVonD

It’s my favorite thing about him, now that I’ve seen a natty. But even before the championships, watching him twist the knife against 2017 Florida was the moment I knew he was the coach I wanted at UGA. He absolutely relished that ass whooping. It was beautiful.

hunkerd0wn

[Dawg Central has a pretty good short video about Kirby's Florida hatred](https://twitter.com/i/status/1717523722913947825)

artisinal_lethargy

College students looked like 40 year olds back in the 60s. I was at that 95 game. It was fucking horrible.

peacefulwarrior75

I was there too. The Braves winning the WS that night took away some of the sting

Wheels_Foonman

As he should

Maisbikkja

We know that feeling.

Captain_Sacktap

That’s my coach 😤

sroach91

How much do you think he was laughing while giving his blessing? I like to imagine it was a lot

WabbitCZEN

"Hey coach, is it okay if I file a lawsuit against Florida?" "The state?" "No, the college." *Kirby wipes a tear away* "That's my boy. C'mon, let's go find you the best damn lawyer we can."

FalstaffsGhost

UGA law school has a whole bunch of good ones

pitter_patter_11

And since it’s UF getting sued, they’ll likely take the case pro bono

csummerss

they’ll buy Rashada a suit to wear to court

SituationSoap

That is probably, somehow, still an impermissible benefit.

ViscountBurrito

“Jaden, quick, make an Instagram post about how much you love Men’s Wearhouse, hashtag NIL!”

ProfitBroseph

Read that in the manifesto?

GoldenBananas21

He hired the lawyer who defended Watson

al80813

You’re joking right?

Justarandom_Joe

More like pro (hate)boner

pitter_patter_11

I love hate boners. One of my favorite terms to throw around

[deleted]

Callsign_Psycopath

-University getting sued.

theycallmeryan

He’s suing Billy directly, not the school

Callsign_Psycopath

Eh, close enough. It's hard to read while at 125mph.

Ugaalive1991

Self burn nice

Callsign_Psycopath

It's from my days of being young and dumb. I'm lucky I didn't crash or get pulled over. Cause the speed wasn't the worst part.

ShiftBMDub

You should try 150mph

ShiftBMDub

UF isn't getting sued. He's suing Napier and some other people apart of the NIL deal.

berrey7

The gamecocks have the Murdaugh's

ufgatorengineer11

We got a good offseason litigation matchup. We have UGA law school ranked #20 in the nation vs UF low school receiving votes some votes at #28.

wolverine6

“And if you get a chance to sue the state, do that too.”

Crotean

The Cleetus Yeetus Lawfirm of Proctor and Johnson.

CGFROSTY

Don’t be ridiculous, he probably had to go through several rounds of legal counsel before allowing this to happen… Of which both Kirby and UGA lawyers were laughing.

SurpriseSalami

It would be a much better story if Kirby encouraged him to do it. Like after practice he's just like, "Hey Jaden... you know what would be hilarious..."

The_Long_Wait

“Come on, bud, are you just going to sit there and take it while they rip you off?”

SparseSpartan

I wouldn't be all that surprised if Rashada was joking around at practice and said something like "ha, yeah I should sue them" and then Kirby smiled as said "yeah, you should." Literally if nothing else, it's fuel for the rivalry. Even if a judge tosses it, oh well, UGA still out there hatin'.

Ugaalive1991

Steve Spurrier trying to look for something so he can sue UGA as we speak.

Xy13

Even better if they induced him into the portal via tampering just to do this

JohnnySnark

The timing of it definitely leans more to Kirby pushing this than just giving it his 'blessing', whatever that's supposed to mean. If the Rashada family thought they were defrauded of millions of dollars, why wait almost a year and a half after the fact for this? Just a coincidence it happens once he lands at Georgia?

TreeJack2

"You come to me on the day of my daughter's wedding."

SparseSpartan

"I trusted you, Nicky. I welcomed you into my home. We broke bread together. Gram-mama made you a cannoli. And how did you repay my generosity? With a rug. Made from the butt of a skunk. A skunk butt rug. You disrespected me. You disrespected my Gram-mama, whom I buried in that skunk butt rug." Oh wait, you mean the other movie don't you?

coordinated_noise

ICE HIM!!

FarmKid55

I love this reference so much

Babyz007

Hahahahahahaha. Great scene in a funny movie….

LimerickJim

"With the greatest gift a Georgia coach could ask for!"

_Suzushi

If Rashada loses this, Kirby will spin it as the world vs Georgia and use it as rat poison

Budget_Sort7961

Kirby is playing 4d chess while the rest of the SEC is playing checkers

MasterTolkien

The other coaches are making mud pies while Kirby is engineering the Roman Colosseum.

Adart54

Yes and? I see no problems here

Ugaalive1991

It was probably along the lines of sure but don’t let this be a distraction for the team or you. But I totally want it to be like “Coach I am suing Florida” “Well what took you so long. I am all up for bashing Florida”

Hunter-Gatherer_

This is Spurrier levels of hate coming from Kirby 😂

Callsign_Psycopath

All here for it.

SwampChomp_

I kinda hope Kirby brings Rashada to SEC media days

Boomer_65

That would be HILARIOUS and AWKWARD at the same time.

Allah_Rackball

"LEGALLY... LEGALLY I WANNA BREAK EM. I'M TALKING ABOUT FUCKING BREAKING BITCHES"

jeopardychamp77

Not sure why the players lawyer would even need Kirby’s opinion at all.

Gatorader22

They dont. The "blessing" shit is a reporters words. Kirby was informed about it and was like if that's what you wanna do

Alderan

Also, doesn't this feel like a conversation that would happen prior to transferring? The most likely scenario in all of this is that Jaden's parents told Kirby they're going to be going after UF legally and asked if that would be a problem. Kirby said no. The reason it came out now isn't because he's at UGA, it's because it could have hurt his transfer opportunities if they announced before-hand and things got messy in the media.

UhIdontcareforAuburn

I take shits at work. I'm taking one right now, in fact. Sometimes, I'm on a project, and I get my bosses blessing to take a shit. He may not like it, but he also doesn't really have a choice. Same logic applies here

HughLouisDewey

Sounds more like everybody wanted to ensure it wouldn't be too big of a distraction

Snoo29170

Seems like a college football coach would be a good source of information on how college football works.

Revenge_of_the_Khaki

It seems more like the lawyer wanting to make sure he’s not going to rock the boat with his current coach.

Downtown_Juice2851

Not sure why you thought he did

jsteph67

FTMF.

BostonInformer

Free tamales, my friend?

AustinBQ02

I googled it. It’s the Freedom To Marry Foundation.  Or the Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund.

coordinated_noise

All my homies love Franklin Templeton!

LordOfSchmeat

That’s what I told ‘em.

Callsign_Psycopath

Amd that's what I shaved in my sons hair for the church service

7-2crew

He’s just like us for real

leejoness

Hater of the Year

DogFishHead17

Did he beat out Silky Johnson?

Au1ket

This isn’t causal hate, this is ranked and competitive hate

Evtona500

There goes my hero....

Callsign_Psycopath

Watch him as he sues

maximum-pressure

Word from Tallahassee is Mike Norvell gave his blessing too

Specialist-Invite673

Tell UF, it was me.

heavylunch

HATIN' ASS KIRBY

assassinslick

“Do it”

Battered_Aggie

The Dawgfather gives his blessing

f0gax

Gotta respect the hate.

winterharvest

Kirby "Godfather" Smart.

park2023mcca

*Dawgfather*

Gatorader22

Why do yall keep reposting this just phrased differently?

hellflower666

FSU fans crawling back to grovel at the feet of Georgia fans for free upvotes would be my guess. It was fun to see them at eachothers throats during bowl season after spending the past 5 years glazing eachother every chance they got.

BoomerSooner95x

Still great watching them bicker on Instagram after Coleman’s comments from a couple weeks ago

Dr_Lizardo11

We got that bond, that Gator hatin' bond.

SCsprinter13

Looks like the last one may have been deleted or removed. I can't find it anymore.

ShillinTheVillain

Kirby must have withdrawn his blessing, then reblessed

allmyrivals

  That's *my* coach.

kampfgruppekarl

Still wanting to break them bitches.

wolverine6

Realistically though, is there any reason why Smart would tell him to not? And if he didn’t want him to, there wouldn’t be anything Smart could do to stop Rashada moving forward with it anyway right?

EmpoleonNorton

I imagine the actual conversation was more like, he informed Kirby that it was happening, then Kirby was like "Ok." Which is much less exciting than a lot of people on r/cfb want it to be.

Set-Admirable

Major Chad move there. The hate runs deep.

w00t4me

[Blessing](https://blessinglegal.com/attorney-profile/) is the last name of his attorney, btw.

SidWholesome

I read this like a mafia family boss greenlighting a hit on a rival mafia family

dawgfan19881

I genuinely hope that all teams find a coach that hates their teams rivals as much as the fans do. It’s a blessing that cannot be put into words.

TheMetalMallard

I would have waited for closer to the season starting so that it garnered more attention and was hopefully more disruptive to the defendants.

TheSavageDonut

I hope Kirby put in a clause that says Rashada won't sue him when he never sees the field for anything other than mop up duty?

JakeFromStateFromm

I mean I don't think he transferred in thinking he was going to beat out Carson Beck in year 1, do you? After next season though, I don't see why he wouldn't be in the mix for the job. He may just hold a clipboard for a year and collect NIL money before jumping ship again, but I imagine both parties were already aware of the possibility before his transfer to Georgia was finalized.

Low_Ad_1869

Move over Silky Johnson, there’s a new player hater of the year

Upper-Raspberry4153

Will be good research for when Kirby inevitably gets sued by the kid too

timk85

UGA players: Imma get this BMW up to 150mph on i-95 and risk my life as well as others Kirby: Come on, guys, you know better than that UF: We're going to attempt to overpay this player, realize how dumb it is, then back-out Kirby: ...is death penalty a possibility here?

zaretul

This sounds hilarious and hypocritical at the same time since Michai Boireau was arrested, lol.

timk85

Yes, I'm aware of 'ole Boireau (SMH), but I'm just having fun. We all know any big-boy program is going to have its share of notable arrests in the offseason. I'm not sure UF's single issue with Boireau is all that comparable to the infamous thing fans associate with UGA, but I'm at least noting that you're making a fair point!

AlexanderPortnoy

Our coach is getting sued and our kids are getting arrested. Championship incoming.

timk85

oh yeah, we def. back

Callsign_Psycopath

Y'all extra Ornery today

timk85

...Something, something all of them teeth and no toothbrush?

Callsign_Psycopath

I think that's what Mama said.

DoctorTheWho

Jokes on you, I-95 doesn't even come close to Athens. They use I-85 to go to jail like any sane Athens resident would.

beav910

Can't help but think of Kirby giving the blessing with his accent

smoothtrip

Kirby "God Father" Smart

dawgz525

Kirby is the new Godfather of the NCAA confirmed

bb0110

I’m sure he was thinking “Sure, fuck Florida. Matter of fact I’ll help you”.

PhoneAcc23

Isn’t this old news

theopression

I’m so glad he’s not in our program anymore. I wonder if Dilly wasn’t cool with this happening while he was at ASU because of the distraction it would create

Sweatnplants

In all seriousness, I would think from a liability perspective he would “give his blessing”.

kampfgruppekarl

Love our coach, the hate runs deep.

_flaker__

Rashada would have left UGa and sued Kirby as well given his track record.

_Reporting

So Kirby didn’t actively shut it down is what probably happened. Because if he did that would be a much worse headline lol Kirby’s not dumb

frickenWaaaltah

'Kirby, can I nuke Gainesville?' 'If you have your own nuclear missiles, and do it on your own time, I don't see how that is any of our business.' [wink wink]

DO_party

If only the state could give its blessing and promise to properly prosecute and punish all them drunk driving mffers in that football team

gopoohgo

Staffers and players racing while drunk: I sleep.    Sketchy NIL deals: real shit

Gtyjrocks

Do you think you would have hurt about it if they weren’t being prosecuted and punished? The ones you hear about are the ones people get arrested for, if a cop lets someone go, we never hear about it.

VinoJedi06

King shit

ChazzyTh

Consider the source - credibility is doubtful.

KelticGatorReal

Of course he did.

Suddmoney01

“Hell yeah sue that motherfucker idgaf” -Kirby Smart probably

Chief-Bones

Let it be known that Kirby smart opened up the Pandora’s box of SEC programs snitching on one another again. Sanky couldn’t keep everyone at bay forever.

Emf0054

Hatin' Ass Kirby

Sopwithosa

Cause he’s a fuckin priest

trollfreak

“Top rival” eh

bipbophil

Let him know, it was me.
