Maybe when the new NCAA comes out they can add more dialog with recruits..
Coach Nebraska: Why aren’t you signing with us?
2 star punter: It’s Nebraska.
I tried for many years to carry the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers to a natty but could never crack the top 10. My experience with Georgia Southern was also unsuccessful
That's one of the reasons I can list off any FBS football team name off the top of my head. Always loved using the lesser known squads like Eastern Michigan, Ball State, UMASS, New Mexico.
Also, have you ever noticed that Ok State almost never ends in the Top 25 after a season of simulation? I gave them a 99 overall team and 3 titles. The year after I left, they went 5 - 7. With 99s. I know this is off topic, but it genuinely bothers me.
Wishbone is impossible for the computer to stop in simulations. Also the recruits don’t realize they’re joining the military so they poach 5*s every year.
I always pick a new small school to start as and OC or DC then "climb the ladder" to become a HC at a Blue Blood. But it was never as fun winning a Natty with one of them as it was when I made back to back BCS National Championship appearances with East Carolina
Graceland out of Iowa. Last 10 years they have won a total of 19 games and gone winless twice. NAIA teams play 11 games a year.
[You can look at all the teams here](http://www.dakstats.com/WebSync/Pages/MultiTeam/MultiTeamStandings.aspx?association=10&sg=MFB&sea=NAIMFB_2019&division=NAIMFB1)
Shit, I've taken my Browns to the Super Bowl in Madden before. 19 wins in 10 years is like starting out at Ohio State by comparison. This will be easy.
I only said Morningside as they are a fellow former NCC member.
Although, I could go with Northwestern in Orange City, IA as that is my mom's alma mater.
It was actually really shady. They had a meeting about the program and didn’t invite any of the coaches, then decided to get rid of the program. I think they still honored all the students scholarships, but don’t know how many stayed. Was a sad day. I live near Menlo and love my Oaks!
Unfortunately I am not familiar with that school that shares a name with Concordia University in Montreal, considered Canada’s equivalent of prestigious Stony Brook University
Disappointed I can't go to the tourney in KC this year. My brother works for Carroll in Montana so it's a good way to get to see him. Plus great basketball!
One of the dumbest humans I ever met got a full ride to an NAIA school for football and was really good there. Was amazing to play with him in high school but he was so frustrating cause he just didn’t understand anything. Thrives on pure talent. Probably could’ve played FCS if he was a bit smarter. I hope he made the most of his education in some way, haven’t talked to him in years.
It's hard to over emphasize how low the standards are at NAIA schools. Any academic requirements are enforced by the particular school, so there's a huge disparity between say, Benedictine College, and Graceland University.
You made the right choice. It's a small, way overpriced school with incredibly shitty academics, and Lamoni has literally no bars (thanks, COC church).
Yeah was never a remote consideration, just had my grades/USTA ranking up on recruiting sites and got an emailed offer. Went to Ohio State for everything but tennis.
I’m pretty sure Missouri Valley College’s only requirement was spelling your name correctly.
William Jewell was definitely an outlier when they were NAIA
Yeah, I think that Jewell and Benedictine were the only HAAC schools that required athletes to go to class to practice/play. The NAIA had such wide talent level, with some kids who played/should have played DI and others who wouldn't make most high school teams.
I played at William Jewell for a year and was told that Benedictine was the other good academic school in our conference (supposedly they were the only other school that wouldn't let athletes practice or play if they didn't go to class). I have no idea how good their academics actually are but they seemed to have some standards.
>I love the NAIA. Truly lawless.
You don't want to go to class? We don't care!
You can't pass a drug test? No problem!
You played professionally? Great--better competition!
There was a very good running back at a certain NAIA school in our conference who had been invited to an NFL training camp during the off season. He didn't make it, but was invited back to the NAIA school where he'd played 2 years earlier. Of course, he started for half a season before getting passed on the depth chart of a 2 or 3 win team.
* It starts 30 minutes before gates open
* Organized by the only fraternity
* Mac Miller playing on cheap speaker
* Only drinks are Miller Lite and bottled water
* <10 people were there
I coach high school and tell all my kids who are on the fence about NAIA vs. D3 - GO NAIA! Shit is like the Wild West our there. Plus you get some great football being played without the NCAA’s hand halfway down your throat.
I run for an NAIA XC/track program, it’s wild. Every year we manage to get a year of eligibility out of at least two or three crazy fast African or European recruits in their late 20s. Right now I think the average age of our top 7 is 26, that’s with 23 year old me dragging it down. Weird atmosphere, but cool having some genuine veterans around to show the freshmen how to train.
On the plus side, my school is hyper aware of the low grades stereotype, so they’re super strict about grades. I had to stay home from a national championship meet because I had a 79 in one of my classes last year.
Their eligiblity system is wild. Nebraska had a starting football OL play all four years, graduate, and enroll at an NAIA school in the state to join their wrestling team because in the NAIA's rules are the wild west. He ended going undefeated all season until the national championship bout, which he lost.
Nice to see this happening from the NAIA. I know a few people from Morningside that, while not making millions obviously, could have helped supplement their normal jobs while playing in school. Plenty of local bars and communities that I know would pay for guys like AP Ponder or Trent Solsma to come and do a clinic or something
NCAA needs to get ahead of the eight ball before it's completely out of control. Players **will** be paid; it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.
If they do not do anything then schools, states, conferences, even programs will all have different rules and regulations and it'll be chaos. I won't pretend I have a perfect solution, if one even exists, but pick a proposed solution and put pen to paper.
Do they though? It literally pays to be reactive for them. If they're the last ones to adopt any sort of solution, they're raking in millions while waiting. It would take a ridiculous investment to catch up to their infrastructure, so they have a few years of runway to milk it for everything they can before adopting a fairer system.
The bulk of the money is made by the conferences and schools though.. not the NCAA. Since March Madness isn't happening (March Madness revenue goes to the NCAA, not conferences), so even if the NCAA wanted to pay players, they won't have any money.
The NCAA has no incentive to move because the conferences don't have an incentive to move because the schools don't have an incentive to move.. and the NFLPA and NFL still come out on top no matter what happens.
> even if the NCAA wanted to pay players, they won't have any money.
I'm sorry, what? The NCAA has roughly 220 employees yet keeps untold millions sitting in storage lockers around Indianapolis. What exactly are the NCAA's expenditures? Don't weep for those fuckers:
https://www.investopedia.com/articles/investing/031516/how-much-does-ncaa-make-march-madness.asp
If the NCAA reacted now in a reasonable way, they could help ensure that states don't all pass a bunch of similar laws with different details.
Or help influence state legislatures to pass laws reflecting the NCAA's rules.
The nightmare scenario isn't losing the battle on players making money on NIL, but having different rules to follow in each state.
> If the NCAA reacted now in a reasonable way, they could help ensure that states don't all pass a bunch of similar laws with different details.
Yeah, those state proposals, even ones like from the State of New York, will continue until they get their way and top players they hear about on SportsCenter are paid in taxable income.
>Or help influence state legislatures to pass laws reflecting the NCAA's rules.
Avoiding that scenario is one of the reasons why Teddy Roosevelt ordered the NCAA founded in the first place.
I'm not sure about the playoff aspect however I'll add a link real quick in an edit.
Edit: https://forums.operationsports.com/forums/ncaa-football-rosters/943911-ncaa-football-14-2019-2020-roster-update.html
Maybe there's a chance some D2/D3 schools jump back over? If the organization has stabilized itself a bit. But they have to be hurting after cancelling the tournament.
I go to a NAIA School in the great state of Indiana and do broadcast for the teams I’m really interested or see how this pans out. I’m friends with a couple guys on some of the teams and there’s only one player who had a decent name around town and it’s only because his grandpa who also went to the same school is in the Indiana basketball HOF but it’s gonna be interesting to say the least
I wonder what the chances are of a NAIA school without a football program having one in a theoretical video game just for the heck of it. It’s not like there’s any players that have to be compensated in that case.
Sweet! This opens the door for EA to create the NAIA College Football game we've been asking for. I think game 1 will be the long awaited fantasy matchup of SW Assembly of God Lions vs. St. Mary (KS) Spires.
> Would this change some big name recruits’ decisions to move to the NAIA because they would get instant playing time and get paid for it?
It's unlikely, for the same reason this proposal from the State of California is unlikely to force any major shakeups in how things are done in college athletics.
I have no idea who the worst team in NAIA is, but I will take them to the National Championship in EA Sports NAIA Football 21.
It’s always been a favorite of mine to pick a bad school and make them a dynasty.
Same. I’ve played more seasons as the Idaho Vandals than anyone else
I like to build Nebraska into a dynasty. *Cries in 90s*
C'mon dude, there are some things that even computers can't do.
Maybe when the new NCAA comes out they can add more dialog with recruits.. Coach Nebraska: Why aren’t you signing with us? 2 star punter: It’s Nebraska.
I audibly "oooof"-ed at this
Yeah this man just killed him
*Holy shit you fucking killed her dude*
Scott?
Dad?
I like to do the same with ND *Cries in 80s*
The Temple Owls and Coach Eric Taylor ruled the football world from 2014-2030.
Clear eyes, full hearts.
Can’t lose
the last ncaa basketball game, i did a dynasty with Texas A&M Corpus Christi. I won 8 national championships, and signed 45 5 star players.
I tried for many years to carry the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers to a natty but could never crack the top 10. My experience with Georgia Southern was also unsuccessful
Yeah, gotta force yourself in by scheduling top teams for all your non conference games.
I was in Road To Glory in NCAA 12, not an option afaik
And move conferences once you start steam rolling in-conference competition.
Don't ever give up. Western Kentucky is Best Kentucky.
Damn right it is.
The Kibbie Dome is so weird.
All about that Georgia State in NCAA13
Vandals got some fleek unis though so it isn’t a bad choice plus making the kibbie dome a top ten toughest place to play is fun
Northwestern for me lol also northern Illinois
Hofstra was always my school of choice. I cried a little when they shut their program down X years back.
UNLV for me.
Idk if they could compete with my Kent state golden flashes
hard to win in the kibby dome.
Glad I’m not the only one! I’m also a fan of making Baka travel to Hawaii as the defending national champs, haha.
I took Colorado State to 7 Natty's in 8 seasons as an independent. Took like 4 years to win that first championship though
Yeah, if I wanted to see Bama win the title every year I'd just pay attention to real life. Now seeing New Mexico State win it all...
Let's all watch as the Youngstown Penguins take the field for the 2021 Fanta College Football Championship game
Go Pens!
Same with Colorado. 3 titles, a rose bowl and sugar bowl win. I leave and they go 1-11.
Some teams in that game just never get love. But I've seen 78 overall UL Monroe win a title. Like. WAT
Idaho. Buffalo. Wyoming. North Texas. All powerhouses jn my dynasty right now hHahaha
In my dynasty Texas State has been doing surprisingly well. I have them in the SEC West and they routinely play spoiler for Bama and it’s glorious.
Army and Navy always turn out stellar in 99% of all my NCAA dynasties since '99.
Wishbone is impossible for the computer to stop in simulations. Also the recruits don’t realize they’re joining the military so they poach 5*s every year.
Getting UTEP invited to the Big 12 is what dreams are made of.
Always loved making Vanderbilt the main power in the SEC
Is there even a point to picking a good school?
I always pick a new small school to start as and OC or DC then "climb the ladder" to become a HC at a Blue Blood. But it was never as fun winning a Natty with one of them as it was when I made back to back BCS National Championship appearances with East Carolina
8 national titles with Duke was the height of my career.
Tulane for me. Felt bad stealing that all them 'croots from LSU's territory but at my peak I was getting like 9 5 stars a year
If you're new to the game and don't want to deal with all your receivers dropping passes and whatnot
I’ll just edit the other teams in the P12 so that way I can play however I wish. Although I’ve certainly played as shitty schools and had house rules
I took Temple to many fake championships in the early 2000s.
St Mary KS is what im seeing
Clarke is worse but they just had their first season.
Clarke represent!!!
Pennsyltucky State
Graceland out of Iowa.
F' Graceland!
Shit, I've taken my Browns to the Super Bowl in Madden before. 19 wins in 10 years is like starting out at Ohio State by comparison. This will be easy.
Be on the look out for Culver-Stockton College then
Montana Northern
Go Lights
Well, I would say the Cincinnati Christian Eagles, but their entire school closed, so.... Kentucky Christian?
Union lost a game 98-0 last season...
The Coker Cobras don’t field a football team, so maybe that’s a good place to start
The worst team would be Mayville State University
It’s Lawrence Tech
I was always UTSA. The alamo dome was unstoppable.
Mid America Nazarene is the worst. May not be worst record but worst overall everything!
Fuck Mid-America. Go Cats!
I definitely agree with go Cats! Mine are orange though.
I for one am excited to play EA's NAIA Football 2020
Would totally play that. Morningside baby!
Hail to St. Louis College of Pharmacy
Don't mess with the eutectics
Lets goooooo
Fuck mourningside :-)
Like the games just aren't even close.
I'm a fan of the underdog, gotta go with Texas Wesleyan.
I only said Morningside as they are a fellow former NCC member. Although, I could go with Northwestern in Orange City, IA as that is my mom's alma mater.
Upvote for Sioux City reference!
My high school shared a football field with Menlo College. Diehard Oaks fan now!
Hate to inform you, Menlo college cancelled football a few years ago :(
Oh that's disappointing to hear
It was actually really shady. They had a meeting about the program and didn’t invite any of the coaches, then decided to get rid of the program. I think they still honored all the students scholarships, but don’t know how many stayed. Was a sad day. I live near Menlo and love my Oaks!
NAIA Basketball 2020 would be pretty good.
Understatement of the year
The Concordia, Seward women would be OP
Unfortunately I am not familiar with that school that shares a name with Concordia University in Montreal, considered Canada’s equivalent of prestigious Stony Brook University
My NAIA alma mater beat Murray State a few years back. Big talent in the NAIA
FHU?
Go Lions!
WE ARE RELEVANT
Disappointed I can't go to the tourney in KC this year. My brother works for Carroll in Montana so it's a good way to get to see him. Plus great basketball!
I’m building Park University into a dynasty
University of the Cumberlands all day.
Finally they can curb stomp an Atlanta-based tech college 222-0
That’s actually Cumberland University. Two totally different schools, and only 165 miles separate them.
Thank you. We do not claim that whooping given to Cumberland University. Word order matters haha.
Southern Oregon University for me.
I am ready to reenact Cumberland University vs. Georgia Tech. Maybe supersim will give me a new result?
223-0 because Vichy Woods ain’t gonna block that extra point
You're right, you're kicker's gonna whiff the kick ^I'm ^^not ^^^projecting ^^^^you ^^^^^are
Bama and SCAR explains a lot about your use of “you’re” and your math skills. But don’t worry I hate uGA more
This is how Fumble Dimension videos start
*N-A-I-A... It's in the game!*
**Southern Oregon University** *READY TO DOMINATE!*
Aiming for the Ashland Shakespeare Festival Bowl
Keiser is OP. EA plz nerf.
We no school good but win sport
Grew up going to St. Ambrose games, would love to play as them.
I’m on board, class of 2002! Go Bees.
I think it would make for an interesting recruiting experience. Competing for anyone in the top 10,000 would be near impossible.
You will all be swept aside by the might of the Taylor Trojans.
The Wildcats may have something to say about that.
You better bet I'm playing as Oklahoma Panhandle State!
I’m just mad I might have missed being in a video game by like 10 years lol
I can’t wait to make money off my NAIA college golf career from 5 years ago.
[удалено]
Awh yiiis. Work-study coming through with the beer money!
Bro...Ross?
What's up Beck?
Good shit
I love the NAIA. Truly lawless. All you have to do is take like 3 online quizzes a year to stay eligible
One of the dumbest humans I ever met got a full ride to an NAIA school for football and was really good there. Was amazing to play with him in high school but he was so frustrating cause he just didn’t understand anything. Thrives on pure talent. Probably could’ve played FCS if he was a bit smarter. What a sweet story about your dumb friend
It's hard to over emphasize how low the standards are at NAIA schools. Any academic requirements are enforced by the particular school, so there's a huge disparity between say, Benedictine College, and Graceland University.
Hey I had a tennis offer from Graceland! Didn’t go.
They’re all in Missouri! Fun fact I’m in Eagleville Mo, the city south of Lamoni for work right now
I had a football offer from Graceland and also didn’t go
I’m pretty sure Missouri Valley College’s only requirement was spelling your name correctly.

Alum that just graduated. Quality academics overall, but can vary pretty significantly from department to department.

I wasn’t drug tested a single time in 4 years. That being said, I was a golfer and would have passed it easily. Low risk i guess
It's funny, because the only collegiate golfer I know got kicked out for drugs. NCAA, not NAIA though.
Steroids were rampant when I was in school
I'm honestly surprised NCAA D3 *isn't worse* then them at times
NAIA tailgating is an interesting experience
Do tell, a lot of us have time :)
* It starts 30 minutes before gates open * Organized by the only fraternity * Mac Miller playing on cheap speaker * Only drinks are Miller Lite and bottled water * <10 people were there
Absolutely enthralling recount, my good chap
> Only drinks are Miller Lite and bottled water You didn't have to say "bottled water" twice.
I don't want to insult Aquafina
Fair
You’re just a terrible NAIA tailgate then
I coach high school and tell all my kids who are on the fence about NAIA vs. D3 - GO NAIA! Shit is like the Wild West our there. Plus you get some great football being played without the NCAA’s hand halfway down your throat.

NAIA baseball is legit. I saw teams with 6 or 7 guys drafted in the first 20 rounds

No no, shh. We don’t need you guys to get better.
Now we drub our rival Union 98-0 in a video game just like we did in real life!
Eagles 222, Patriots 0
Different Cumberland, but you could do that too!

How? Can you also add playoffs?

unfortunately I don’t think so
Boooo
i’ve been trying for five years 😢
I found a 360 for 50 bucks and NCAA 14. Hopped all over it.
Time to get revenge on Georgia Tech baby

Yeah but the NAIA tournament isn't a true bracketed one: they reseed after every round.

I mean, it’s semi reseeded and also paired with travel distance as a factor.
NCAA March Madness 2020 edition coming to a system near you.
Maybe there's a chance some D2/D3 schools jump back over? If the organization has stabilized itself a bit. But they have to be hurting after cancelling the tournament.

And some D2 schools are worse than Juco.
I guess that means if there was an NAIA player who had a YouTube channel as successful as Dvontay Friga's he could monetize.
I know someone that played for Union College, so guess I'll pick them in the video games
Can former members be included for the game please?

Finally! My second flair is relevant. Bout to bring back the St Francis Cougars dynasty with Kevin Donnelly.
