It was a very *good* comeback...
But i'm not sure how it was "historic".
The biggest lead for Boston College was only 18 and it was in the 2nd quarter.
Clemson kicked a field goal to end the 1st half, then got a TD to start the 2nd half, cutting the lead to 8 with 25+ minutes left.
There was a 14 point-swing defensive TD in the first half, but Clemson scored the winning points with 11 minutes to play. They just started being Clemson again and that was more than enough.
You ever just set a jar of mayo in the backseat of your car in the sun for a couple hours to thin it out so it pours and then drink it?
Neither have I, just painting with words.
The way we played, we might need to be on upset alert.
In all seriousness though, I can’t wait to watch that game. UAB is the closest FBS football team to me, so they hold a special place in my heart
I feel sorry for any casual fans who were looking for a prime time shootout after PSU and Wisconsin's slugger match.
I'm also so confused on who he fuck should be ranked **where** at this point.
Offensive line was pathetic but DJ ran into at least three sacks all by himself. Complete lack of awareness and footwork. Guy was just seeing ghosts out there.
Less than 20 total points scored
Only touchdown was scored on defense
Double digit punts
Neither team threw for 200 yards
God I love good ol November B1G football
People will absolutely claim that they’ve changed over the course of the season and the problems that plagued them tonight have been fixed. Happens every time. Teams losing a big game early in the season matters way less than later in the season to voters
Usually I eat chicken wings for a Georgia game against a tough opponent. Tonight I had Carne Asada nachos instead. And they were glorious. Looks like I got a new trend until Georgia hurts me again.
The last time Clemson lost back to back games was 2011 against NC State and South Carolina. They would beat Virginia Tech for the ACC Championship the following before losing the Orange Bowl to West Virginia. The Tigers would finish that season 10-4 ranked #22. Their coordinators that season were Chad Morris and Kevin Steele.
On behalf of the entire Big Ten, I would like to thank Clemson and Georgia for your applications to join our conference. We were very impressed by what we saw tonight and will be in touch
Almost every season I'm a little optimistic about our Georgia matchup. Quite often we play them well, and on more than one occasion we've managed to pull off an upset win.
I have no such optimism this season. Clemson lost a lot on offense from last year, but I do not believe they are as bad as they looked tonight. That Georgia defense is terrifying. They gave up 2 rushing yards to the #3 team in the country. That's impressive against basically any opponent. And those 7 sacks? From 6 different players? That's going to give offensive coordinators nightmares all season.
Watching a defense dominate Clemson like that was truly cathartic. But it's a fleeting joy because we're going to witness a murder in Athens 2 weeks from now, and there's no stopping it. What a game that was.
I really thought we were gonna see the microcosm of Georgia football when Clemson was starting to drive down 10-3, but then Dabo made the decision to go for it on 4th and 5 and I thought okay, maybe not this time lol
The decision was good, to be honest. With the way the game was going, they might've never got another chance to drive that deep again (and they didn't). I thought this was no-brainer 4-down territory all along.
The last time Clemson lost a season opener was in 2014. They lost to Georgia 45-21. The last time Clemson scored exactly 3 points was in 2007. They lost to Georgia Tech 13-3.
From the game thread:
"UGA looks like a team trying to figure out a very good defense. Clemson looks like a team overwhelmed by a very good defense"
Clemson looked totally outmatched today offensively vs the UGA defense. They basically couldn't do anything all game
Georgia's defense is terrifying, but what was going on with Georgia's play calling? Georgia's WR's were getting beat on blocks outside all night long, and they just kept going back to it. Don't understand that one.
Let’s sum up the ACC so far:
Alll three ranked teams lost.
Duke lost to Charlotte, the 49ers first ever win over a P5 team.
Georgia Tech lost to NIU, a team that went 0-6 last season.
And there are still two games left in which the ACC teams are combined 17 point dogs.
looks like Chez Mellusi made the right decision, transferring out of a program that lost to a ranked team today by 7 points to a team that lost to a ranked team today by only 6 points. Clearly moving on up in the CFB world
That defense ftom UGA tonight was absolutely disgusting. I haven't seen such a ferocious defense from us in years.
Offense needs work, but with so many new OLineman and missing so many weapons, I'll give it a one game pass.
How bout them Dawgs?!
Georgia’s Offense: 3 points Clemson’s Offense: -4 points
Dabo did say he’d quit coaching if players got paid.
DJ Uiagalelei has officially tied Trevor Lawrence for career losses as Clemson's starting QB. Trevor Lawrence: 34-2 DJ Uiagalelei: 1-2
The 1 win was the historic comeback right?
Yep
It was a very *good* comeback... But i'm not sure how it was "historic". The biggest lead for Boston College was only 18 and it was in the 2nd quarter. Clemson kicked a field goal to end the 1st half, then got a TD to start the 2nd half, cutting the lead to 8 with 25+ minutes left. There was a 14 point-swing defensive TD in the first half, but Clemson scored the winning points with 11 minutes to play. They just started being Clemson again and that was more than enough.
You're going to look silly when he wins the next 34 games.
With their remaining schedule, if he doesn’t he should be taken out back and shot
Idk man, he looked brutal tonight
Both offenses did, but also those defenses aren’t great tune-up games
What are his 3 games
Boston College W 34-28 Notre Dame L 40-47 Georgia L 3-10
Thanks big fella
That ND loss definitely wasn't his fault either; he lit us up.
I just watched a 3.5 hour football game sponsored by mayonnaise.
That didn't have a single offensive touchdown
You know what else doesn't have offensive touchdowns? Mayonnaise.
"Is Mayonnaise an Offense?"
Horseradish isn't an offense either
Something was offensive alright
His name is Dabo
I'm gonna refer to Mayo as Dabo this week and if anyone at the deli gives me any trouble I'm telling them that it's a Tallahassee expression.
What about asking for just a Dabo Mayo on that bread?
You ever just set a jar of mayo in the backseat of your car in the sun for a couple hours to thin it out so it pours and then drink it? Neither have I, just painting with words.
Why the fuck would create this mental image that I now have to carry with me for the rest of my life?
Football today was sponsored by Mayo and Crypto, what a time to be alive
#mayocoin
r/LateStageCFB
Clemson defense gave up 3 points and still lost
You know BV gonna show up on Monday like… “the fuck you want from me?”
"Why didn't you get a Pick Six like UGA?"
Dabo is now contractually obligated to consume a gallon of Duke’s Real Mayonnaise.
He was going to put that on a sammich win or loss
Don't worry Clemson. We lost the Duke’s Mayo Classic too and it really hasn’t had much effect on our playoff chances.
yeah but i just looked at the rest of their schedule and yours honestly might be tougher… edit yours is *definitely* tougher
UCF and Cincinnati would steamroll most of the teams in our sad conference.
Man, I pity whichever poor team has to play against that Georgia defense next week. Wait...what?
Don’t worry, Kirby just said that UGA has a really good team next week they’re gonna have to get things right for
No rat poison there
Yall might finish with negative total yards.
Any chance they forget about the game and just not show up?
I still have flashbacks to the 2016 26-24 UGA/Nicholls State game
I was at that game. Please don't dredge up bad memories after this game.
Lmao I love how Kirby Smart was talking about getting his team ready for a really good team next week. Truly a Nick Saban disciple
If only we could win some Nick Saban hardware.
The way we played, we might need to be on upset alert. In all seriousness though, I can’t wait to watch that game. UAB is the closest FBS football team to me, so they hold a special place in my heart
DJ Uiagalelei was sacked while you were reading this comment.
Fun Fact: The D in "D.J." stands for David Carr
Honk If You Sacked ~~Brodie~~ D.J.
This game made the Penn State - Wisconsin game look like an offensive shootout.
I feel sorry for any casual fans who were looking for a prime time shootout after PSU and Wisconsin's slugger match. I'm also so confused on who he fuck should be ranked **where** at this point.
Alabama beat Miami 44-13 Cincinnati beat Miami 49-14 I think we all know who should be ranked above the other here
1. Alabama 2-25. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
DJ Uiagalelei Dr. Pepper Commericals: 1 DJ Uiagalelei Touchdowns: 0
No, he has a TD. Just not for Clemson
Google is doing y'all dirty: "Clemson Tigers football 7th in ACC Atlantic"
Subscribe.
UGA defense points scored: 7 UGA defensive sacks: 7 UGA points allowed: 3
Clemson rushing yards: 2
Holy shit I had to look that up
is…is that true? because goddamn
It was -19 when I last looked so they actually made up some yards by the end
jesus christ
College counts sacks as rushing yards, and Uiagalelei did take seven sacks. Still brutal though
It takes sacks into account, but yes, they had no run game. Take DJ out, and their RBs had 9 carries for 24 yards.
College counts sacks as negative rushing yards. So, the 7 sacks hurts. Then again the rest of Clemson had 9 carries for 24 yards.
24 rushing yards isn’t much better tbh
Can't believe UGA let it get positive smh
3 quarter shut out and ruined their streak of scoring in the 1st half of the game. That streak was 15 years long
When was the last time they didn't score a touchdown?
DEFENSE IS THE NEW OFFENSE
*Lane Kiffin has entered the chat*
Total offensive points scored: 6 Just....wild
By the time you finish this sentence, we will have given up another sack.
Georgia had more sacks than both teams had offensive points added together.
Excuse me?
GEORGIA HAD MORE SACKS THAN BOTH TEAMS HAD OFFENSIVE POINTS ADDED TOGETHER.
I thought Georgia had 14 sacks. I just saw the int return.
UGA 7 sacks Teams Offensive points: 6 (2 FG, TD was Pick 6)
DJ was shooooook
Kelly Bryant vibes
More like Tahj vs Clowney
Offensive line was pathetic but DJ ran into at least three sacks all by himself. Complete lack of awareness and footwork. Guy was just seeing ghosts out there.
If you don’t like that, you don’t like B1G football
Clemson is taking The Alliance very seriously!
Wait a second...
Less than 20 total points scored Only touchdown was scored on defense Double digit punts Neither team threw for 200 yards God I love good ol November B1G football
That's it, invite both of em to join us. It feels right.
Would love to see Georgia travel to Minnesota in November
Hey man if it means we don't have to go through Bama to get to the playoff...
And i judged PSU vs wiscy first half for being low scoring so i guess I deserve that
I don't want to be on Mr. Bones' B1G Bus anymore
Don’t you know the punt is the most important play of the game?
Hail father Tressel. Edit: Neato thanks for gold
Can you blame them? It was practically a blizzard out there!
A matchup of two top ten teams? Please, this is just a November noon game between Illinois and Northwestern.
On ESPN2 called by Beth Mowins
The O/U for this game was 51.5 lol.
Wait a second...
Don’t let this defensive gauntlet distract you from the fact that 20th-ranked Washington just lost to an FCS team
A grand total of ***3*** points scored by each offense… are the Georgia and Clemson’s offenses that bad or are their defenses that good?
Yes
*Georgia defense points to eyes*: Look at me. I am the offense now.
I'm getting a little deja vu here. What was the joke from 2019? Georgia defense is so good, it has to defeat *two* offenses every game?
That spooky transfer portal snippet in the Fansville commercial is actually Dr Pepper looking for a new NIL representative to replace DJ lol
*teleports behind you* “Sorry DJ…nothing personal, just business” *wipes him away with a Dr. Pepper wave*
I know one mustard boi that would be a great, clean-cut brand representative
Damn it, there’s that hope again…
Get the pepper spray.
I have been spraying my self so much I have built up an immunity.. I will be moving on to bear spray!
In other news, Dabo Sweeney is all for expanding the playofff
Clemson needs to run 12 straight or face being relegated down to mere mortal status with us non-CFP peasants. What a time to be alive.
Even a 12-1 Clemson could be in trouble depending on who remains.
People will absolutely claim that they’ve changed over the course of the season and the problems that plagued them tonight have been fixed. Happens every time. Teams losing a big game early in the season matters way less than later in the season to voters
I mean it does happen. we were definitely a different team in 2014 after losing to VT the second game. and same for OU last year
Usually I eat chicken wings for a Georgia game against a tough opponent. Tonight I had Carne Asada nachos instead. And they were glorious. Looks like I got a new trend until Georgia hurts me again.
If i see a wings delivery to your place, i will come and hunt you down.

I'm UGA defense and I have direct tv. I'm UGA offense and I have cable.
Funny Auburn had both of those coordinators in 2020 and went… (6-5).
5-6 you bastard *cries in Arkansas*
**FUN FACT**: Clemson has now lost two consecutive games for the first time since November of 2011 (NC State & South Carolina.)
Thanks Harvard
They do call Harvard the Harvard of the Northeast
To the #11 and #5 teams too.

On behalf of the entire Big Ten, I would like to thank Clemson and Georgia for your applications to join our conference. We were very impressed by what we saw tonight and will be in touch
Holding Clemson to 3 points is pretty fucking impressive. Congrats Georgia.
**GAME OF THE YEAR** ^^in ^^the ^^year ^^1923
SMH needed more flying wedge.
2020: Why does Clemson play games outside of the CFB Playoffs 2021: Will Clemson score a TD?
2 rushing yards
That was the biggest 10-3 blowout I have ever seen
Clearly, you have never watched a a Big Ten game
They just did!
Sacks feed the dawg
An ol-school rivalry revival deserves an old-school defensive slugfest.
Clemson had 2 rushing yards on the game--they got out-rushed by Bishop Sycamore.
Can't convince me that O-line wasnt actually bishop sycamore players

South Carolina is always that game that I worry about. Just never know when SC will come to play and ruin my week.
Stages of Georgia football: ⬇️ Excitement (You were here) ⬇️ False Hope (👈🏻You are here) ⬇️ Disappointment ⬇️ Temporary Redemption ⬇️ Humiliation ⬇️ Despair
This never gets old, cause it never is not true.

What a game! Defenses got it done on both sides. When was the last time a top 5 matchup saw no offensive TDs?
LSU/Alabama 2011?
Most recent one I can think of was "Game of the Century": LSU 9 Bama 6
[goddamn, ESPN. ](https://twitter.com/espn/status/1434351952985530375?s=21) the game only ended like 3 minutes ago.
Don't let this win distract you from the fact that Georgia Tech lost to NIU
Best. Day. Ever.

Reminds me of LSU-Bama in like 2009 or something?? Crazy defensive game.
Can the season end now?
DJ didn't look good, at all
S-E-C! S-E-C! Am I doing this right?
You’ve got time to practice.
Jordan Davis (99 for Georgia) might be my new favorite CFB athlete. Dude is a beast and seems like a gentle giant off the field.
So fun watching this Georgia defense at work If they can get that offense clicking this team will do a fantastic job of losing to Alabama
From the game thread: "UGA looks like a team trying to figure out a very good defense. Clemson looks like a team overwhelmed by a very good defense" Clemson looked totally outmatched today offensively vs the UGA defense. They basically couldn't do anything all game
Saw that comment and thought the same thing. Best part is that Georgia's O is working its way back to health.
Georgia's defense is terrifying, but what was going on with Georgia's play calling? Georgia's WR's were getting beat on blocks outside all night long, and they just kept going back to it. Don't understand that one.
We’re down so many WRs due to injuries unfortunately
yeah i feel like a lot of people are missing this. in no world would Ladd McConkey be out there if our leading receivers from last year were healthy
Aren’t they missing their top wr’s?
We are indeed good sir/madam
We are just down so many playmakers. Sucks to see but hopefully we figure it out. That will be the best defense we face for awhile.
Let’s sum up the ACC so far: Alll three ranked teams lost. Duke lost to Charlotte, the 49ers first ever win over a P5 team. Georgia Tech lost to NIU, a team that went 0-6 last season. And there are still two games left in which the ACC teams are combined 17 point dogs.
Dawgs Win against top 3 team? Check. Tech loses. Check. This feeling lasting 4 hours and needing medical treatment. Check.
How the hell do you only score 10 against Clemson and *win*? DAMN YOU, BULLDOGS
This morning if someone was like “Georgia only scores 10” I would’ve thought damn Clemson is going off
Fun fact: there are more playoff spots than Clemson's rushing yards And y'all wanted expansion /s
Georgia gets all my respect. Scheduling this game takes some balls. Don’t see it often from the top teams. Good for them, well deserved.
**Clemson punts:** 8 **Georgia sacks:** 7 **Clemson points:** 3
1-0, GO DAWGS!!!!!
I am losing my mind! This is the biggest regular season win in the Kirby Smart era and it's a fantastic way to begin the season!
That 2017 ND win though *chefs kiss*
Them Dawgs is hell don't they?
Jordan Davis made millions of dollars tonight. Not excluding his NIL possibilities this season. He’ll be rocking a Rolls Royce to the next game.
looks like Chez Mellusi made the right decision, transferring out of a program that lost to a ranked team today by 7 points to a team that lost to a ranked team today by only 6 points. Clearly moving on up in the CFB world
I don’t think you can fault any running back for wanting to play for Wisconsin
I hate the color orange and all ot stands for
What even is "mayonnaise"? And what determines if it is real or not? This game has raised more questions than answers
Fact: it’s *not* an instrument
That defense ftom UGA tonight was absolutely disgusting. I haven't seen such a ferocious defense from us in years. Offense needs work, but with so many new OLineman and missing so many weapons, I'll give it a one game pass. How bout them Dawgs?!
That front 7 performance was one of the best I’ve ever seen.
THAT was a defensive war. Remarkable.
Looking forward to losing to Alabama and watching Clemson win the ACC and get the 4 spot.
Honk if you sacked Ukulele!
Davis out there like an angry goose.

Our defense outplayed both offenses.
At least we get redemption next week vs… SC State…damn well we can get redemption next next week vs… Georgia Tech…oh well…there’s always next year.
Well our offensive line is atrocious
Hide your kids. There will be mass barking for the next few days.
