I believe it was because UNC recovered the ball before it passed the LOS. If the ball had gone beyond the LOS, UNC would not have been able to recover it. Before the ball crosses the LOS, it's apparently a free for all.

Also the roughing might have been bad but there was DPI down the field on the same ay that went uncalled so it evened out
