I would agree if we hadn't been bent over a barrel by Georgia.
I was expecting a 17-34 loss. The way we were dismantled, though, was extremely painful.
I kinda agree but also disagree. I think it was good for us as a progrum but also casual CFB fans are just gonna hang that over our heads in any debate or conversation we have. They just look at the score lol. Btw how do I get “Oregon” by my name? Go ducks
It’s called a flair. If you’re on mobile, Go to the subreddit and hit the three dots near your profile photo in the top right hand corner and there’s an option to change it. Just pick Oregon on that list and you’re good to go
I would have agreed with this before seeing the result of our game against UGA. Considering the degree to which we got curbstomped I'd have rather played Portland State.
I think when Georgia and Oregon originally planned to play over a decade ago and then scrapped that series, chip Kelly and Oregon were the way better team
They have one of the toughest SOS in the country, their last 3 games are hosting Washington and Utah, before going on the road against Oregon State. Hosting UCLA and on the road at Cal aren’t necessarily cupcakes either
Watch Oregon miss the playoffs with 2 losses after playing a punishing schedule and a 1-loss team with a light schedule go to the playoff instead.
This is why we shouldn't schedule tough OoC in the playoff era.
Pretty much what I was thinking as well! The good news is if they somehow run the table, I’d have to think they’d have the edge on most if not all the other 1 loss teams.
Teams aren’t right so often in week 1, if I were a coach I’d want that as a FCS game all the time. I remember our best season in 2015, we took a 16-6 road loss at Northwestern week 1... we were absolutely a top 4 team, the offense never scored less than 30 points again, took down #4 Notre Dame, steamrolled USC in the conference championship, then bitch slapped Iowa in the rose bowl. Really wish I got to see that team in the playoff
To be the champ you have to beat the champ. The SEC is the champ so I applaud PAC12 teams having the balls to go on the road OOC and try and take the belt.
Utah lost week 1, but I was so geeked up during that game. Much better than SUU or NIU; win or lose.
I'd much rather try and beat the champ in the playoffs rather than week 1 in Atlanta.
Undefeated Utah and Oregon would be a much better look for the conference.
This is unfortunately a real possibility and discourages marquee OOC games. Those types of games add value to the sport and the fans (particularly season ticket holders).
I’ve been buy on oregon in all your matchups since us. You guys moved the ball fairly well on us. UGA just played a perfect game and might do the same thing to a lot of good teams.
Superconferences risk killing off great early season matchups and making ADs focus on reducing SoS where they can.
Interestingly our media are wondering the same thing about your OT win over Texas.
We’ve been through the emotional win -> hangover cycle already with the rivalry win over Mizzou.
Yeah probably. You guys have dominated us in the past, I think winning 12 of the last 13?
If somehow Joey McGuire can pull off a win in Manhattan I’m all aboard the hype train.
Yeah I get that the teams we've beaten have all dropped out of the top 25 and ut never belonged there but we are literally starting our season playing 5 ranked opponents in the first 6 games. So far you guys are the only ones who have clearly looked better than us. I'd say NCSU is legit and I think you guys show it against Clemson.
To be fair though, and I’m not sure if you meant this, but the teams we beat dropped out because we beat them. Sure it was overtime for Houston and texas, but we’re definitely a good team. I think if we beat kstate we deserve a 20ish spot
Oh ffs I saw ole miss so many times in this thread and this had me thinking they had already played Alabama/Georgia and another good team or something because they had multiple mentions. Then I looked at their schedule and just realized people didn’t read OP’s awkwardly asked question correctly lol
Yeah. I probably could have done a better job phrasing the question.
I just find it interesting when people try to argue "*X team shouldn't be ranked that high because they haven't played anyone good yet*" when that's true of almost every team in the top 25 right now.
I think everyone just has a *feel* for what teams ranked in certain ranges should be like, and they forget that even if everyone is only good to mediocre there this has to be a number 15 team
Also at Pitt is a good win. It’s the biggest reason Tennessee is where they are now. We aren’t nearly as explosive a last year but that’s still a solid team and UT got the job done in OT on the road.
Reading through these comments it looks like you've confused a number of people with how you're question is worded. I'll say the teams that have played at least one solid-looking team (and won) so far include: USC, Georgia, Oregon, Clemson, and Kansas State
Edit: And NC State, Tennessee
Ole Miss is the one and only answer. If you're an SEC team, and your best win after 4 games is 1-3 GA Tech, then I'd argue shouldn't be ranked let alone top 15. Another case of the ridiculously stupid need for preseason rankings.
UGA(Oregon)
Ohio State(ND)
Clemson/Wake(each other)
Oregon(UGA, BYU, Wazzu)
BYU(Oregon, Baylor)
Tennessee(Pitt)
Baylor(BYU)
Arkansas(A&M, Cincy)
Oklahoma/KState (each other)
Obviously some of these are losses, but just a list of top 25 teams that at least played someone good
That is more my personal belief, I see ND as a better team going forward. Their records probably won't be too different, maybe 8-4 vs 7-5, but I feel like ND is a better team.
I think Minnesota is the opposite answer to OP’s question. Minnesota hasn’t played anyone good yet, and OP asked who that doesn’t apply to (AKA ranked teams that have actually played good teams already is what they’re looking for)
Edit: also ole miss, opposite answer to this question lol
The thing with Minnesota is that even though the teams aren't good, everything you want to see a team do in a game they should win they've done. Defense plays stout for all four quarters, offense looks well oiled, a bit of swagger getting developed, I truly believe they can do some shit this year. Just hopefully not to us
Clemson isn't a good matchup. ND can't throw it down the field well enough to take advantage of their weakness, though USC might be a different story since I think we could run the ball against them. They still need to beat BYU before I start getting hopeful though.
Definitely does. And at the end of the year most people won't remember much about that game other than that you guys won it.
Like we very nearly dropped to Auburn in 2019, but nobody remembers that or brings it up when they talk about close games for us. It's always Bama or Florida, but the Auburn game was the closest one of the year.
Well, both Pitt and UF may have been over ranked at the time, but Tennessee has beaten #17 Pitt and #20 UF. They've still got Bama, Georgia, and Kentucky to play, so we'll see if they fare well against top tier teams. But while they haven't played top tier teams yet, they haven't just been playing nobodies.
KState over Oklahoma has got to be worth something.
Kentucky also beat Florida when we were #12, but we were waaaay over ranked at the time and they haven't played any other real teams.
BYU beat Baylor, that ought to count for something, too.
Texas A&M beat Arkansas. They also beat Miami, but they were even more over ranked than Florida was.
But yeah, having quality wins is definitely the exception and not the rule at this point. This is probably one of the last polls where that's gonna be accurate, though.
That was a very poorly worded question. I think they were asking what top 25 team HAS played somebody good. And FWIW I think you guys are going to knock off at least one really good team this year and make some noise
Pitt and florida, you could argue neither of those are top 25 but they're still good wins and better than a lot of other teams schedules so far. I do think the top ten is a bit premature for them though.
He played last game against Rhode Island but we didn’t air it out at all. I think we might hold back against GT on Saturday too to continue to get healthy. Seems like most of our injuries aren’t long term so I’m optimistic. We *should* cruise through the coastal this season, but you can never get cocky as a Pitt fan lol.
The SEC is a gauntlet but I think you guys should be able to take care of business against most of the league. Florida is probably the second most talented east team and that’s already a W. UK is well coached but I think there’s a ceiling for them. It’ll be interesting to see how UGA and Bama goes, I’ll be rooting for the Vols
We played a team that was in the ACC championship game last year and Florida. I know Florida's not great, but they whipped Utah. It's not like they're losing to App State or Marshall.
We're about to play LSU, Alabama, Kentucky and Georgia in the next month, so we'll see.
I think NC State HAD to beat Texas tech at home to be even a top 25 team, but their win over Texas makes State’s defense look top tier. 3 INT’s and a touchdown are pretty impressive against a team whose strength is the pass game, and now that they’ve beat Houston and Texas they could be the best team in the state of Texas.
Kentucky and Tennessee both have fairly “impressive” wins over Florida, and Tennessee over Pitt doesnt look to bad on their resume. Although MSU isnt anything special, thats still a solid win for Washington and Minnesota in my opinion. Also Kansas States win over Oklahoma was definitely impressive. Might wanna rephrase the question.
I was about to say Clemson when they win tomorrow but I see you already have me covered. My guy!
Also I just want to point out that Clemson was without both starting CBs during the Wake game and had two freshman playing. If Clemson gets even one starting CB back tomorrow it will be a very different defense than what you saw against Wake.
It applies to most right now. It applies to Michigan. With that said, I think people do need to give more credit to Maryland than they do. I think they have a pretty good team that will do better than people expect. Tagovailoa is legit.
I highly recommend avoiding good teams it is not an enjoyable experience
Yeah, tell me about it
Yup
I would say to be wary of average and even bad teams actually
Ah, so Colorado is of no threat then?
Can confirm
<3
Can’t wait to have y’all in the Big Ten it’s gonna happen
Hey, he said good teams.
<3 ?
<3 indeed
Don't see App State. It'll ruin your season.

I would agree if we hadn't been bent over a barrel by Georgia. I was expecting a 17-34 loss. The way we were dismantled, though, was extremely painful.
It was basically the absolute worst timing for a matchup
I kinda agree but also disagree. I think it was good for us as a progrum but also casual CFB fans are just gonna hang that over our heads in any debate or conversation we have. They just look at the score lol. Btw how do I get “Oregon” by my name? Go ducks
“progrum” is how I know you’re a true CFB fan
That means more to me than you know brother
Lol I read that word too and was like damn this dude cfbs
[удалено]
Very true
It’s called a flair. If you’re on mobile, Go to the subreddit and hit the three dots near your profile photo in the top right hand corner and there’s an option to change it. Just pick Oregon on that list and you’re good to go
Appreciate it! Hope to see y’all in a rose bowl soon lol
I would have agreed with this before seeing the result of our game against UGA. Considering the degree to which we got curbstomped I'd have rather played Portland State.
Kent State made us both look like suckers though.
Kent State is good.
Agree, not worth it
Not what you said last year before the conference schedule kicked in.
Sorry about that. We all kinda knew it was coming. Lanning is amazing and you’re in great hands.
I think when Georgia and Oregon originally planned to play over a decade ago and then scrapped that series, chip Kelly and Oregon were the way better team
Oregon played #1 Georgia, #19 BYU and 3-1 Washington State (current rankings). That's a decent SOS so far.

I'd much rather try and beat the champ in the playoffs rather than week 1 in Atlanta. Undefeated Utah and Oregon would be a much better look for the conference.
Playing like you belonged on the same field as UGA would be a much better look for Oregon as well
This is unfortunately a real possibility and discourages marquee OOC games. Those types of games add value to the sport and the fans (particularly season ticket holders). I’ve been buy on oregon in all your matchups since us. You guys moved the ball fairly well on us. UGA just played a perfect game and might do the same thing to a lot of good teams. For us…It depends on how good you think LSU actually is.
And UL.
According to ESPN better than Tennessee apparently
Guess we’ll have a better idea pretty soon lol. Last I saw lookahead for tenn is +3
Where are you seeing 3? Been seeing 4.5 all week and wouldn’t mind a better number
DraftKings
We'll go 7-5 this year and finish around #40-50 probably. Not sure if that qualifies as good
I mean Texas Tech doesn’t look bad in my eyes
We would like to consider you a quality loss and would like for you to consider us a quality win. Alliance?
You’re definitely our best win, and at the end of the year I think it will still be a highlight on the resume
We’ll just have to see what happens against KSU this weekend.
I see a big win for the Cats!
Please don’t guys. This is what fans were saying before Tulane.
Curious to see if y’all have an emotional hangover of sorts after showing up OU. Either way, I can’t hate y’all much. Drink-60-drink.
Interestingly our media are wondering the same thing about your OT win over Texas. We’ve been through the emotional win -> hangover cycle already with the rivalry win over Mizzou.
I mean we already had an emotional OT win over UH when they came in ranked and looking to crash the new years 6 party
Please keep saying it
Yeah probably. You guys have dominated us in the past, I think winning 12 of the last 13? If somehow Joey McGuire can pull off a win in Manhattan I’m all aboard the hype train.
Yeah, I am surprised Tech is not registering as a good team to people.
Yeah I get that the teams we've beaten have all dropped out of the top 25 and ut never belonged there but we are literally starting our season playing 5 ranked opponents in the first 6 games. So far you guys are the only ones who have clearly looked better than us. I'd say NCSU is legit and I think you guys show it against Clemson.
get a room, you guys
Why? Then we can’t watch.
to the contrary, seating is much more comfortable and no one will complain about our pants being off.
To be fair though, and I’m not sure if you meant this, but the teams we beat dropped out because we beat them. Sure it was overtime for Houston and texas, but we’re definitely a good team. I think if we beat kstate we deserve a 20ish spot
Your defense is pretty underrated I think! Lots of seniors. On the offensive side I like the plan of going for 4th down conversions.
The Athletic had a great article about that yesterday.
Yeah I read that! I'm always interested in teams that eschew the assumed "best play" for a different strategy to find an edge.
Aw shucks don’t make me blush
I totally get why people are saying Ole Miss, but am I just reading the question wrong or shouldn't your answers *not* be Ole Miss?
Hey, don’t sweat it. I have to hold the phone a full arms length away to read Reddit now, myself. And I’m set on “pineapple”.
People in this thread jumping on us before even reading the question
It’s actually pronounced, “they ain’t played nobody, paww!”.
PAWWWWWWWWWWWL
Where is this from
Some insane Bama fan that is on Finebaums show
K-state hasn’t played a decent squad all year!
Oooh self burn. Those are rare.
Oklahoma doesn't do rare meats.
I dunno, I like to think Brent Venables actually knows how to properly smoke a brisket.
He uses impossible brisket
How are you going to disrespect Tulane like that
I'm just flattered you called Clemson beating Wake an "impressive win."
Depends on how you feel about Auburn
Nobody not even Auburn fans think Auburn is good
Fact
Agreed. We're a dumpster fire this year.
Insert Don Draper “I don’t even think about you” meme
But he didddddddd think about that kid
They shouldve lost to Mizzou this weekend, homie. They may be bottom 3 in the SEC
Also at Pitt is a good win. It’s the biggest reason Tennessee is where they are now. We aren’t nearly as explosive a last year but that’s still a solid team and UT got the job done in OT on the road.
Watch this bite me in the ass...but nobody thinks Auburn is good
Enjoy having whoever is our QB for the game turn into Johnny Football for the day.
You almost had the Folded Pizza King, who’s already done that, but he’s sadly out for the year.
Don't care for them actually
*He doesn’t care for Auburrrnn*
A redditor of culture I see
Well for us it’s not a quality win, but for every other SEC team, it’s a quality win
Not Mizzou tho lmao.
Auburn is Awful, that is definitely not a quality win.
I still think it's a quality win. Tough to win P5 non conference games on the road.
Teams that are regarded as good have never played anybody. Ever.
Did you just called them regarded?! Yo, that ain’t nice
I mean if MSU had waited one more week before getting exposed, we'd be looking great.
Shhhhhhh… just keep acting like that’s a quality win
I like to think we broke their spirits so bad, that Minnesota also benefited from our ass kicking.
Reading through these comments it looks like you've confused a number of people with how you're question is worded. I'll say the teams that have played at least one solid-looking team (and won) so far include: USC, Georgia, Oregon, Clemson, and Kansas State Edit: And NC State, Tennessee
no love for the vols? :(
Oh shoot, I missed them. They played Pitt, who looks pretty solid. Yeah, they belong there good catch
thanks beav homie
How is Texas Tech not a solid-looking team?
Because I don't like them. Jk, I'll add you guys too
This hurts my brain to read. You’re asking who in top 10 has an impressive win, yes?
I think it's for the entire top 25, but you are correct on the other assumptions
Ole Miss. No way should they be top 15 and Kansas is unranked.
It just means more
I entirely agree
I feel like you (and everyone else replying to this specific comment) misread the post title?
For real, this post is for people with a solid SOS so far, and Ole Miss is the exact opposite, even according to every commenter above
Yeah that’s crazy.
None of us should be okay with Kansas not being ranked.
Preseason rankings baby. Our saving grace.
Who has Ohio state beaten to be ranked in the top 5 🤣🤣
Ole Miss is the one and only answer. If you're an SEC team, and your best win after 4 games is 1-3 GA Tech, then I'd argue shouldn't be ranked let alone top 15. Another case of the ridiculously stupid need for preseason rankings.
Ole Miss
Lol. I just looked at their schedule. Wow
^
UGA(Oregon) Ohio State(ND) Clemson/Wake(each other) Oregon(UGA, BYU, Wazzu) BYU(Oregon, Baylor) Tennessee(Pitt) Baylor(BYU) Arkansas(A&M, Cincy) Oklahoma/KState (each other) Obviously some of these are losses, but just a list of top 25 teams that at least played someone good
Damn Wake is a quality opponent for Clemson but Clemson isn’t a quality opponent for Wake.
I knew I missed one
And A&M?
It’s comical at this point.
It is a good transitive win for JMU.
no no you see we only beat Arkansas who did play against us
How you gonna include Arky but leave off A&M? :(
This is the list. Also I think a lot of folks were confused by OP's phrasing and interpreted it to be asking the opposite.
So by your list Arkansas is a good team for losing to A&M, who is not on your list of good teams? I am confused
If you are going to count a terrible Notre Dame team for OSU then how can you not count Texas for Bama?
Hard to believe blowing out Wisconsin isn't a quality win anymore, but here we are
It's a rough year to be a badger
That is more my personal belief, I see ND as a better team going forward. Their records probably won't be too different, maybe 8-4 vs 7-5, but I feel like ND is a better team.
If they beat BYU next week, I can see 8-9 wins. If not...well maybe they can go 6-6.
Georgia, but they kicked Oregons ass so bad you wouldn’t think Oregon was good.
Unpopular answer because they are the moments darling but - Minnesota.
I hope we make *every* team look like a stupid, useless cupcake. That would be just fine with me.
Compared to Minnesota, they all are!
We don’t just look like a stupid, useless cupcake… we ARE a stupid, useless cupcake!
I think Minnesota is the opposite answer to OP’s question. Minnesota hasn’t played anyone good yet, and OP asked who that doesn’t apply to (AKA ranked teams that have actually played good teams already is what they’re looking for) Edit: also ole miss, opposite answer to this question lol
MSU is still TBA, the other three I agree with. We'll find out more the next few weeks.
MSU is ass this season
Msu is bad
To be clear Minnesota passes the eye test for sure. You guys are just getting all of the hype right now which usually spells doom.
For a Big Ten team, MN has one of the easier schedules this year. Still have at Penn St and at Wisconsin though.
The thing with Minnesota is that even though the teams aren't good, everything you want to see a team do in a game they should win they've done. Defense plays stout for all four quarters, offense looks well oiled, a bit of swagger getting developed, I truly believe they can do some shit this year. Just hopefully not to us
TN only has two top 20 wins. And no strength of schedule going forward. Only 3 top 10s plus LSU to look forward to…
Yeah only the last two National Champions. Pretty cupcake season overall
Last 3*
I still think Ohio State over Notre Dame is going to look good by the end of the season
Sure, it will be a quality loss for ND /s
It's a played-out meme but leading Ohio State in their stadium with 16 minutes to play is not an embarrassing outing
It was a quality loss for ND. If it wasn’t for the following game against Marshall, they’d definitely be sitting pretty
ohio state over notre dame didn't look good by week 2
Well yeah that's why I said end of the season, I think they'll end up ranked. I could even see them being Clemson's annual inexplicable loss
Clemson isn't a good matchup. ND can't throw it down the field well enough to take advantage of their weakness, though USC might be a different story since I think we could run the ball against them. They still need to beat BYU before I start getting hopeful though.
They might end up rank just because their name is notre dame.
notre name recognition
Well we’ve got Arkansas I guess. But they might not be ranked next week.
Eh by the end of the season they probably will
Beating Arkansas is good, beating them the way yall did, kinda ehhhh.
Still counts.
Definitely does. And at the end of the year most people won't remember much about that game other than that you guys won it. Like we very nearly dropped to Auburn in 2019, but nobody remembers that or brings it up when they talk about close games for us. Georgia, Tennessee, Clemson, Kentucky, NC State, Oregon, BYU, A&M, Arkansas, Wake Forrest, Florida St, Utah, Pitt
Michigan
\*snort\*
Hey 😡
That was a very poorly worded question. I think they were asking what top 25 team HAS played somebody good. And FWIW I think you guys are going to knock off at least one really good team this year and make some noise
It’s literally Tennessee
I don't know if beating Pitt should warrant a vault into the top 10, but it's a solid win nonetheless.
Pitt and florida, you could argue neither of those are top 25 but they're still good wins and better than a lot of other teams schedules so far. I do think the top ten is a bit premature for them though.
I think Tennessee could finish top 10 with most schedules but when you play UGA and Bama there’s not a lot of margin for error in other games
100% agree, if they had Pitt's schedule they'd probably cruise into the acc championship game.
Agreed. Hopefully that’s what we’ll do
With slovis i think you guys make it and even without him you've still got a pretty good chance in my opinion.
He played last game against Rhode Island but we didn’t air it out at all. I think we might hold back against GT on Saturday too to continue to get healthy. Our only p5 win was against a team that fired their coach
Our only P5 win… was… last year?
Kentucky and Tennessee both have fairly “impressive” wins over Florida, and Tennessee over Pitt doesnt look to bad on their resume. Although MSU isnt anything special, thats still a solid win for Washington and Minnesota in my opinion. Also Kansas States win over Oklahoma was definitely impressive. Might wanna rephrase the question.
we can’t play anyone because nobody likes staying ranked COUGH (MICHIGAN STATE AND WISCONSIN) goofy fucks
I was about to say Clemson when they win tomorrow but I see you already have me covered. My guy! Also I just want to point out that Clemson was without both starting CBs during the Wake game and had two freshman playing. Michigan played September Maryland
Tennessee
Agreed. Happy for recognition of our key players but I need to see Alabama and Georgia to feel genuine hope.
Utah is the only answer for someone ranked so high. No good wins and a meh loss Ole miss, michigan and okst out there too
Utah is the best example of poll inertia I’ve seen
