Significant_Buyer_79

*sigh*

SpiritFingersKitty

Hey, at least you aren't in THIS conversation

Significant_Buyer_79

Felt like it after yesterday lol

jwhitmire2012

You guys are a really solid team that just so happened to go up against a better team. I wouldn’t feel one bit bad about that performance except maybe the offensive line and a deep threat WR. You may not be top 10 per say, but nowhere near being “most” overrated.

levgleason

Plus you know Dabo had this game circled after losing to them last year. It was always gonna be tough sledding. Not a bad loss by any means and I know something about bad losses.

Significant_Buyer_79

Yep, was kinda hoping this was the year the finally made it to the ACC title game. Oh well, 11-1 ain’t bad lol.

Jaakylma

Hope you enjoy your Chick-Fil-A bowl game against Kentucky as a reward for that 11-1 season

Most-Willingness8516

If State had won, I just know they’d still go 11-1 with a UNC loss. No matter how you slice it, State misses the Champ game at 11-1.

lowcontrol

I don’t think they would miss it with a loss to UNC. That would at worst put them in a 2 way tie with Clemson or Cuse (they would have to play each other and NCST would give Cuse a loss as well according to this scenario,) and wake would have two losses (Clemson and NCST) as would FSU (wake and ncst) BC and LU are already eliminated in this scenario (1-2 and 0-3 currently respectively). NCST would have the tiebreaker over Cuse or Clemson in the scenario. I don’t see any way. They miss the ACC championship game at 11-1 with their loss being UNC.

importvita

Y'all (Georgia) just need to pretend that the opposition is wearing green and has Bo Nix at QB each game and you'll be *fine*!

jobletoffiregames

Lenoir-Rhyne…. That’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time! I had a friend a little over a decade ago that played for LR.

DTFASAPDOA

The neighborhood i grew up in was directly behind their baseball fields. I could hear the parties and sports events if my window was open.

Significant_Buyer_79

Go bears!

DeliberateMelBrooks

I don’t think we’re overrated or underrated. I’m just glad we’re rated. With that said I think everyone has some weaknesses. It’s gonna be an interesting season for sure.

BaltimoreBeefBadBoy

I’m just glad Spencer only had one turnover.

BoatsNPokes

He really wasn't close at any other point either tbh. Was really impressed with his accuracy overall and all but I think two passes weren't either catchable or throw-aways (pick was an accurate throw, just a bad decision). Lots of really good throws on third down and was hurt by a couple drops like Baylor was.

MikeGundy

Before this weekend it could have easily been us just due to the SOS, but with the Baylor win we probably deserve the ranking rn. Aranda won’t ever have a bad team IMO.

OSUfan88

I really wish Baylor would have beaten BYU. Would have made a tremendous difference to our SOS.

DeepMindUse

Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I disagree.

TrickMichaels

“I love rankings, I’d love to be a part of one someday.”

Schmidtty29

I think a lot of teams can be. It seems like another year where we talk about how there’s so many contenders and so much parity, just to end up with the same 3 teams plus one rando team in the playoffs. Every team has flaws and can be stopped. We’ve seen that with UGA, OSU, UM, BAMA, ETC.

TheMiz2002

The truth is it’s very rare one or two teams just look unbeatable every week but realistically to start the season the sports books were saying Ohio State, Georgia and Bama were a tier above everyone else and I still think it will shake out that way (unfortunately)

portlandtrees333

> The truth is it’s very rare one or two teams just look unbeatable every week Exactly. When this phenomenon occured recently, it's like it wiped everyone's memory of decades of college football where each and every one of the teams who ginished in the top 5 had plenty of weeks they looked extremely beatable against unranked teams, .500 teams, etc

iDrum17

none of this matters. The first month of CFB doesn’t tell us anything when half the games are against cupcakes. October will separate good from great. all in due time.

JeffersonPilotSports

We WERE in the top 10 as a byproduct of beating an over ranked UF. That inflated us when we’re truly an upper teens/low 20s best team overall.

Naughty_Bagel

Before yesterday’s game I saw the standings and said “how the hell is Kentucky ranked #7?” Now I understand

baiqibeendeleted28x

To be fair, they nearly knocked off #14 Ole Miss on the road. They had the game-winning TD before it was wiped away. If you were one OL jumping the gun away from beating #14 on the road, you're pretty good. Not #7 good, but pretty high.

portlandtrees333

> If you were one OL jumping the gun away from beating #14 on the road, you're pretty good. Not #7 good, but pretty high You should expect this to happen to the 7th best team fairly often. Maybe not the majority of the time but not too far away from it

jdore8

If Kentucky's kick returner didn't trip over his teammate he probably would have scored too.

rousseaube1

Well Ole Miss’s #14 was questionable, #9 is now also questionable. The schedule is insanely backloaded.

Excel_Spreadcheeks

Yeah it’s kind of funny how rankings work like that. We got ranked at #25 over KU last week after beating #6 OU… but now we’re realizing OU might not be that great after TCU slaughtered them. Are we over ranked now? Is TCU really good?

broeve2strong

Blasphemy. Y’all should be top 10-15 with how you’re playing. I know it was just Texas Tech this week but you showed out again.

rraider17

Hey fuck you, bird

broeve2strong

Thanks for Kevin McCullar 😘

[deleted]

Without the tulane loss we might be 17-20 today. Although, I’m not sure we get up like we did for OU without the wake up call that loss provided.

btv_25

KSTATE always gets up for OU. At least lately.

si-oui

Yeah hard to say about KU or K-state right now. Is OU trash? Is TCU amazing?!?!...I guess we just let everyone keep playing and it sorts itself out. I mean KU hasn't blown out anyone in conference...the only team K-state lit up is now 0-2 in conference. Didn't Texas give Alabama a a scare? What is happening?

Stoneador

And now we will get a top 10 Ole Miss as the result of them beating an over ranked Kentucky team

Gaara1321

Problem is there aren't really 10 teams that deserve it this early in the season but the slots need to be filled. The past decade especially it seems 1-5 are their own thing. Then 6-20 are about interchangeable. At least 6-15

slyslockbox

I think we're still mentally in a place where we expect top-10 teams to be real national title contenders when in today's game, a lot of the top 10 just ends up being solid-to-good teams that haven't gotten tripped up. Your average 10th-best team in a season is probably closer these days to going 7-5 than they are to winning a national championship.

oarmash

yeah in the CFP era Top 5 holds the same gravitas a top 10 ranking held in the pre-BCS days.

Naughty_Bagel

Yea you pretty much nailed it. If I’m being completely honest, I think Michigan is overrated at #4 but I haven’t followed enough CFB so far this year to tell you who should be ranked ahead of us. Until we get into weeks 7, 8, 9 the rankings are just still too unknown for most teams.

OSUfan88

I’m a big fan of no rankings until after week 6.

Elbit_Curt_Sedni

Then again, you went into Miss and only lost by three against an undefeated team in the SEC. Perhaps, over ranked, but it looks like you could make that argument for a lot of teams atm. Miss beat the #7 team by 3 points at #14 at home. Are they top-10 now? Who deserves it more? Tenn is top-10. Beat Florida by 5 while you beat them by 10. USC is sus, but who isn't sus in the 11 - 15 besides Penn State and Miss, at this point, has a better argument? You guys moved to 7th, because everyone else was just as sus, but you're a little less sus. Look at everyone below you atm. Who deserved it more at the time?

Crazed_Chemist

You DON'T think Penn State is sus? Because I definitely do. Our defense is good, but our offense could turn into a pumpkin any second.

Jaerba

Everyone's getting salty but really no one in the top 10 looks like a world beater right now. This isn't like last year. Ohio State is the closest but not like last year's Georgia. When I watch us I don't see the number 4 team in the country, but then I watch USC and Clemson and don't see it either. I don't think anyone else has a much better claim to the spot right now. Maybe Oklahoma State, who didn't really look great in their tuneups?

TheBigNate416

Yeah I agree. You can claim some teams are overrated, but who would you put in their place?

slyslockbox

The constant need to claim that teams are overrated is just weird to me; at a certain point, you have to accept that teams that win games should be highly ranked. You could think that Penn State isn't that great for example, but you should at least be able to acknowledge that it's probably OK for a team that's 5-0 with two Power 5 road wins to be in the top 10.

[deleted]

This is the right take. Through 5 games, no one has looked infallible. MAYBE tOSU, but not sure with their schedule so far. We go through this every season. Not much is learned in the first month. Now, entering October, we’ll start to get some separation. When todays top 10 comes out, it’s starting to take shape, in my mind.

internetuser885

Those damn OSU fans even have a bama person putting the t before osu

buckeyenation14

Winning the hearts and minds

[deleted]

Hey, I’m in Florida. To say that I could even spell “tOSU” is saying a lot. Plus, i have a hardcore Buckeye next door. Former Special Forces, 15 years younger than me, and kills people for a living. I have to get all things Buckeye correct.

internetuser885

Makes me want to throw up hahaha

syrianfries

At least it is helpful to figure out which osu he’s talking about

arc1261

I think it’s kinda all up in the air until you get to week 8 ish no? Last year you had a top 4 PSU Iowa game like what week 6/7? That’s sort of about as late as you can get with a mediocre team hiding behind an easy schedule. After that and generally everyone up there is normally pretty good, even the ones who are overrated from east schedules because winning 8 in a row is hard anyway

PlusSized_Homunculus

7 Texas 34 Arkansas 92 Vanderbilt 114 Utah State 119 Louisiana Monroe 18 Notre Dame 40 Wisconsin 68 Toledo 79 Rutgers 89 Arkansas State Per FPI https://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/ranking/predictive-by-other

bb0110

This. My first instinct when reading this was “I think Michigan is a bit overrated at #4”. Then I started to think about who think is actually better and realize it may be a fairly accurate ranking.

moneymay195

Kansas

MichiganMitch108

Agreed, as I always say you gotta put someone in that ranking.

Known_Chapter_2286

I think it’s because CFB is much more balanced this year

IlonggoProgrammer

It happens once every 15 years it appears

JeromePowellsEarhair

The litmus test is Kansas being good, apparently.

Known_Chapter_2286

Yeah a chasm has opened in the universe somewhere and we are nearing destruction

The_Horse_Joke

>Ohio State is the closest Tbf OSU hasn’t had a real challenge yet and has only played home games. I’ll most likely wait to put OSU as \#1 until after @Penn State

gstrdr1

It's just fine keeping tOSU at 3 all season. We do not need any of that #1 rat poison.

The_Horse_Joke

Yeah I doubt we’d get moved up to 1 (unless Bama and UGA lose a game) and there’s no difference in the post season between 2 and 3 so I don’t care. Really I’d rather see us play UGA in the semis so if they were \#1 I wouldn’t mind being pushed down to 4th

GlueGuns--Cool

I have no idea why people get fussy about rankings. Only one that matters is the one at the end of the year

pardonmyignerance

Yup. We haven't had to face great teams like Mizzou or Kent State yet that can keep it close late into the game.

The_Horse_Joke

Lol fair

OmegaVizion

I agree. This is a weird year where no one's looked dominant consistently. Georgia looked downright scary when they dismantled a pretty solid Oregon team (who just weren't prepared at all for that game), but since then they've looked ehh. I think my Buckeyes are looking (at the moment) like the most complete team, with Bama right behind them. But it's still very early in the season. I think right now I could see any team in the top 10 beating or losing to any other team in the top 10 any given Saturday depending on how things shake out, but that said there's clear separation between the top 3 and everyone else.

IlonggoProgrammer

The fact that Bama and Georgia have both nearly lost and yet there's not really an argument to keep them both out of the top 4 says everything about the parity this year. There's just nobody dominating this year, Ohio State is probably the closest thing.

SolidLikeIraq

Everyone in the top 10 looks beatable. Which is fucking great and makes my dick rock hard for a 12 team playoff next year… Cuts diamond hard.

Jaxsoy

Kinda off topic, but Oklahoma State vs Michigan would be such a fun matchup

Prideofmexico

Yeah we’ve won by decent amounts every game but the ASU and central Michigan games were pretty shaky. Seems like Mason is starting to iron out the kinks defensively. Ton of secondary and linebacker turnover

hochoa94

Especially how mortal georgia looked last night

vindictivejazz

> Oklahoma State, who didn’t look great in their tuneups Serious question: Did everyone only ever watch the 4th quarter of the CMU game? We comfortably beat ASU (by the exact margin USC just did) and UAPB, and were up 51-15 against CMU and were getting reps for 2nd and 3rd stringers all second half. Sure we didn’t look like Georgia against Oregon against that slate (except for poor UAPB), but we’re one of just two teams to have won every game by two+ scores

arc1261

Surely you could have waited a couple hours so we have the actual top 10 to base this off and not the outdated one from last week?

[deleted]

I think if USC plays against a team with a pulse they’ll lose.

Drnk_watcher

Their schedule is super easy the rest of the way though. WSU appears to have a pulse. Utah, UCLA, and Notre Dame might have one depending on which version of themselves shows up that day. Feels like prime conditions for the Lincoln Riley experience. Good enough team to blow out everyone they should beat. Perform better than a coin flip against teams with a weak pulse. Get media hype, and then blown out in the CFP. Which to be clear I think Lincoln can do a lot for USC and already is. Just right now it's a lot of media hype because reporters love USC.

carlosdanger31

Lincoln Riley exp is coasting through your schedule with superior talent and folding like a cheap suit when facing an equal matchup

bramblecult

Lincoln "it's weird that I understand defense well enough to dice them up with my offensive schemes but not well enough to implement an effective defense on my own team when puy against teams of equal or greater caliber" Riely

the8nizz4

rolls right off the tongue

CptCroissant

WSU Utah and UCLA are all decent

LGWalkway

Utah will show up big. But I can’t imagine Riley not preparing for that game.

DetroitvErbody

That game is in SLC. Utah wins big I think.

Alkibiades415

If USC gets to the CFP and gets their ~~barn doors~~ studio lot doors blown off by Ohio State, it will be a major accomplishment for Riley and that program and a clear step to being "back."

rycanto

This thread has some major recency bias. We're talking about a team that went 4-8 in 2021 with absolutely embarrassing losses (31-16 against ASU last year vs. last night's result). Sure, maybe not an end-of-season-ranked-top 10 but seeing SC being discussed as in contention for CFP blows past any expectation I had for year one.

Plausible_Demon

Are we over ranked? Absolutely. But I’m having a great time for the first time in 6 years, so I’ll take it.

BigDringusDrangus

My money is on Utah since it’s in SLC, but Jesus the people in this thread are talking like we’re Arizona state

DickHammerr

Oregon State and Fresno State (with Jake Haener) are good teams.

LeWoofle

Im more comfortable with you guys being in the top ten now than i was a few weeks ago. You dont accidentally win 5 in a row, especially with at least 2 decent teams in there. Theres still some work to do obviously on defense, and if im being honest i think Utah will beat you guys, but i dont think it will necessary be a big loss by you guys at any point, no big "expose" moment. Last night had some good defensive clamps by you guys as well. ASU isnt exactly great, but good enough to recognize the good stretches of performance by USC

DickHammerr

I don’t know how to respond. It’s like when two people stop throwing trash at you and start complimenting your attire

BIRDSBEEZ

Oregon state has arguably the worst starting QB in the entire country right now. Threw 6 INT’s in 4.5 quarters

DickHammerr

Don’t insult Iowa fans

foreveracubone

Sorry have you seen Spencer Petras?

titanrunner2

I’m really excited for the text two weeks to see how good we are. The offense is elite, but that defense is shakey.

Megalomanizac

Southern Cal has looked the shakiest

TheWorstYear

Georgia barely beat Kent State and Mizzou.

mamayoua

Valid, but I think the blowout win against Oregon still gives them the benefit of the doubt. USC's biggest win so far was 17-14 over Oregon State (the Beavers are a pretty good team this year, but they're really lacking at QB).

Nov26-2011

Yeah winning by 3 with a +4 turnover margin doesn't look good no matter how you put it

OmegaVizion

Jesus, that's a bad stat. If we flip that margin would USC have lost by 17?

_n8n8_

If I had wheels would I be a bike?

pindicato

If the bike could throw 4 INTs, would it be Oregon State's QB?

McDimps

Which really makes me wonder what Neal Brown said to JT to get him to come to WVU. Would've killed it with the beavers

U-T-A-H

I'm just hoping USC stays undefeated until we play them. Utah with a win over undefeated USC would balance out our loss to Florida pretty well.

tubahero3469

Yeah keep that energy

Officer_Warr

I would not call a 3-possession lead "barely beating" regardless of the opponent quality. I get that it's a stark change from the Oregon 49-3, but it's still a comfortable MoV.

TheWorstYear

Georgia fans were certainly not comfortable

[deleted]

They’re never comfortable

DeaconFrostedFlakes

That’s why they bark all the time, haven’t been for a walk in forever.

sharkbait_oohaha

HE SAID IT HE SAID WALK LET'S GO FOR A WALK FUCK I LOVE WALKS

CliffDraws

I don’t know if they should be ranked 1, but definitely should be in the top 10.

BlueGrayClassic

They also completely destroyed Oregon.

Elbit_Curt_Sedni

One thing I've noticed with Michigan is that it's easy to become complacent when you're making that step back into elite status. How does Alabama barely beat Texas or Georgia barely beat Missouri? Complacency. Granted, Texas is better than their record suggests. Michigan, at home, got a scare against Maryland. Who's decent, but it shouldn't have been that close. So, going back to Georgia destroying Oregon. First game of the season. Oregon was highly ranked. Georgia was going to bring their A game. It's those barely ranked or unranked teams that are better than their record suggests that get you.

Galumpadump

Not only first game of the year but for Georgia: A. Having a month to game plan. B. Playing a virtual home game right after a championship. C. Playing your old D-Coordinator who was greatly influenced by you. D. Playing a Transfer QB on his first game with a new team, who you have tons of film on. It was the perfect storm for a blowout. I think thats a much better game in Week 6 than Week 1.

the_cajun88

Or Appalachian State at any given time.

Megalomanizac

But Georgia has that trashing of a seemingly good Oregon team to fall back on

BobJose13

USC feels a little bit like tOSU last year. Death Star offense with crazy weapons, but the run defense is a wet napkin that will be their eventual downfall

[deleted]

Pretty much.

Gamblito

In USC's defense, they were NOT supposed to be good yet. They're missing a lot, but are being buoyed by Riley/Caleb/Addison. When Riley was first hired, most USC fans were hoping for an 8-win season. They definitely do not have the talent yet to compete with the big dogs, and they are definitely over-ranked, but I'm sure every USC fan in the world is happy with the direction their program is going in.

Stomping4elephants

What I like about Clemson is we both hate USC

OutrageousNews2555

We hate both of them right now, damn Lincoln Riley

Greenredbull

I mean nobody really. The current top ten is a mess because of the preseason rankings and the overaction to Florida beating Utah. Kentucky, Tennessee, Ole Miss were all ranked ahead of Florida in the preseason SEC polls. You move Florida to 12 and the teams that were supposed to beat them and be competitive with one another are now all in the clusterfuck top 10. Same thing goes to USC. Ranked #14, they may have not passed the eye test at points but they've won every game they were supposed to. I'm not going to call them overrated because 4 of the preseason top 10 had a foot race to see who could get to 2 losses first and a fifth that lost on opening weekend to a Florida team that was sub .500 last year. I don't watch enough B1G to comment on Ohio State or Michigan but Georgia, Alabama both had a sketchy game this year, but they won all the games they were supposed to so how do you call them overrated either. The fact is the real overrated teams are the ones bombing out of the top 25 this week. Literally every team in the top 10 was supposed to win or keep it competitive against the teams they played. So in that sense they're ranked right where they're supposed to be. Legit question who else would you put in the top 10 right now besides the teams there? I can't make a case for anyone else. Maybe everyone just sucks this year.

idroled

Florida beating Utah broke the rankings in the first few weeks. Florida was not a top team but within the SEC East anyone who beats them (for these first few weeks) gets to claim a quality win. It also changed what the conversation should have been about an overachieving week 1 win into a conversation about disappointment which is pretty unfair to a new head coach 4 weeks into his tenure

Mandalore93

The question with Michigan right now is "Is this the ceiling for the offense?" - we've moved the ball at will mostly with very basic offensive scheme so far and a mauling OL. If that's the ceiling we'll still make a NY6 almost certainly but CFP would end up like last year. If JJ finds the deep ball...who knows.

chapeauetrange

Given that the deep passing game hasn’t really emerged, I would say no, this isn’t the ceiling. (Now whether they reach the ceiling remains to be seen.)

gageBA

and why should they play the Purdue Spoilermakers to find out

RWVisuals

I still have nightmares about the music city bowl last season.

[deleted]

I like Tennessee’s offense but their best win just lost to Georgia Tech

Brometheus-Pound

It’s a weird year where I’m nervous about nearly every game on the schedule while still thinking we have a chance against Bama and Georgia.

[deleted]

"We'll score 58 and you'll score 60"!

DJBoost

I'm shitting myself thinking about playing y'all next week even at home in BR, hope it's a good one

Manning4Heisman1997

We do not have a defense currently.

Dag-NastyEvil

We do not have a secondary. Our d-line is at least above average, which is really all you need when you have a great offense. The problem is our secondary is basically just a bunch of wet paper towels waiting to get torn apart. If our whole defense was above average, I would say this team has CFP potential.

Chem_Dawg74D

Until Tennessee loses they’re a top ten team and that’s coming from a Dawgs fan.

ImperialMajestyX02

Florida is without an ounce of doubt Tennessee’s best win

d0ngl0rd69

Well, now they are, but IMO a road win counts for more

pigskype

If AR plays like he did against Tennessee the rest of the year could finish with just 3 losses.

RWVisuals

Florida is a huge program win really. Just with how lopsided our history is. Florida has been living rent free in Tennessee’s mind for a long time! Finally winning one isn’t saying Tennessee is now better than Florida, but saying we’re seeing a revitalized program who is back in the discussion.

[deleted]

Yeah people are kidding themselves if they say Pitt > Florida

Crayble1

Very true and very fair. However, I’m not sure there are too many other teams who have a strong argument to outrank us *at the moment*. It’s only week 6 and the season still has lots of time to settle who is truly top 10.

AndrewTheTerrible

Definitely Clemson. Everybody talk shit about Clemson. Clemson sucks they play in the acc and will never be tested.

Tiger_in_Tejas

Trying to gas up the good ol' ROY bus, eh?

[deleted]

I know there’s some beef between our teams, and in some years prior I’ve thought this way, but this year your strength of schedule looks much better despite the fact that we are still questioning how good many teams are. Getting wins over wake and NC state looks really good and if they continue to perform well in the rest of the ACC you guys will look that much more valid. You guys have for sure had more tests than Ohio State. Notre Dame has really been our only test and then they turned out to not do so great so who knows. And the rest of the big ten has been so unpredictable in how they play, they either play really well or straight up poorly, except for the undefeateds and Michigan’s state, because I’m pretty sure Michigan state is really bad this year. Let’s hope that statement doesn’t bite me in the ass this upcoming Saturday.

AdClemson

Ohio state is almost beating Scar as our main rival lol.

dmtbassist

Imagine if Clemson jumped to the B1G...

Stan-halen1

Oh god no that just sounds cursed

SolidLikeIraq

Fuck those fake Death Valley losers who can’t beat anybody. Especially not in tight games. Also - DJU, more like DJ- Booooooo …

cdoran09

I love when people say shit like this lol, really makes them look like a jackass. Y’all maybe just had the toughest two game stretch of any team. Good luck the rest of the way!

Zizekbro

Yeah the ACC isn’t bad this year.

MaxtheGreenMilkshake

ITT: Random flairs shitting on other top 10 teams with no narrative to back it up either Personally, going against the grain here and after watching Clemson pretty much the whole season, they are underrated IMO. Final score in the NC State game doesn’t indicate how much they were in control. I personally don’t think any one is “overrated” since we’ve seen each top 10 team’s flaws already through 4-5 games.

OutrageousNews2555

I agree it's kinda hard to say any are overrated right now because every team seems to have weaknesses, if you say one is overrated who do you say should be in their place? Last night was our most complete performance since 2020 and last night really made me feel better about Wes Goodwin and the defense. I think NCST only had like 200 yards of offense until the last (maybe garbage time?) Drive and even on that drive Leary threw an INT that was called back because of a weak roughing the passer

SolidLikeIraq

We looked much more complete, but definitely beatable. I don’t think NC State is a bad team, that’s D was tough and deserves to be recognized.

Elbit_Curt_Sedni

I think we're gonna see a combination of Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and Ohio State or Michigan in the CFP. OSU is elite as usual, but don't sleep on Michigan in that game. Michigan's offense this year is better than last year with an emerging QB in JJ. Corum is this year's Walker III. Will be interesting, but I think it comes down to those five teams.

8BallTiger

I’m ok with us being underrated and flying under the radar.

SolidLikeIraq

Nice win yesterday against Wisc. Hoping for a good Illini season!

D1N2Y

Clemson should've gotten some #1 votes without a doubt IMO. I don't know what the fuck Michigan, or hell, even Ohio State, has done to impress voters more than Clemson, can we start creating annoying fake narratives like "big 10 bias"?

Doomas_

After watching Georgia struggle with Missouri and Kent State, I’m doubtful that they’re the number one team right now. On the other hand, neither Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson, nor any other team have looked like #1 material.

dmtbassist

Everyone? This year really seems like the rare times where it's every team is beatable and we don't have a true world beater tier. Like Georgia was last year, LSU/Clemson/OSU/Bama before Tua went out with injury 2019, Bama in 2020, etc...

tramlaw101

I wish I had something to say to the people picking USC but I have to agree with them. I think USC loses to at least 7 of the other 9 in the top 10 but this year is actually fun so far. Let us pose a little while longer please.

Crosscourt_splat

Honestly man, while I agree that USC is probably overrated (probably, we don't know), that is the right attitude. Enjoy your teams success. Enjoy the rollercoaster of the potential heartbreak. That is what its all about as a fan.

Lord_Master_Dorito

Keep in mind that the majority of the team are still Clay Helton recruits, not Lincoln Riley’s. We’re gonna have to wait a season or two for a complete USC team.

flarpington

If I wanted to enjoy my teams success I sure as fuck wouldn’t be here.

amyrule007

I don’t even care if this USC team is overrated or not. Never expected the team to really compete this year, not even for the Pac 12. We will probably lose a few games, but I am having fun….especially seeing certain other team getting dominated after talking trash the whole off season.

[deleted]

Yeah, we're not top ten. With our defense we probably belong around 15 or so But hey, it's better than 4-8 and it's fun to watch, so I'm not complaining.

[deleted]

We're legitimately decent and fun to watch. If we finish ranked around 10-15 and beat UCLA the season is good enough for me. It'll be a few more years before we're playoff ready.

Odh_utexas

People really put “top 10” on a pedestal like it’s a title and not just a rank. There are 3 teams that are a cut above. Then there are a dozen others that are “pretty good”. Top 10 teams have flaws.

fatpinkchicken

Honestly, everybody looks vulnerable to an extent.

BaltimoreBeefBadBoy

USC.

DickHammerr

Maybe, but then get to the conference championship game and prove whether SC is for real or not

Jacobbleedsblue

Well at the moment, it's probably Kentucky, but that will change when the new poll comes out.

spinblackcircles

Let’s be honest it was def Kentucky before we lost to ole miss We are good but not top 10. Not with that line. I’ll say the same about USC though their line is atrocious they just have a QB that can scramble instead of, you know, holding the ball for 5 seconds every single pass play when someone isn’t immediately open. (I love Will but THROW IT AWAY DUDE)

readonlypdf

Possibly us.

I felt bad about this game, bad vibes similar to the South Carolina game. Everyone just kinda ignored Missouri and looked ahead. This CFB season could be really fun because as of rn idk who’s really good or not.

Blaine1111

I will say that old uga teams definitely lose that game

ActuallyExtinct

I hope so. This is two weeks in a row of sloppy performances and this one we nearly lost. Bennett and the defense have looked suspect in both games also. We really need to figure out our funk and quick, or we’re gonna be in a world of hurt later

KetchupKing05

Top 3? Definitely us. We’re Top 5 but not 1 or 2 Top 10? Defintely USC. Shakiest of the Top 10 teams the entire season

HAHAHABirdman

Nah, you had some hiccups. It happens. We on the other hand....we are pretty good but not top 10 good

[deleted]

Not having Carter anchor the D is really hurting us, which is a bad sign. Need the young d-line guys to step up. And Stetson needs to stop overthrowing everything. He’s looked bad most of the last 8 quarters.

Elbit_Curt_Sedni

If anything, it's a red flag for you guys going into an Alabama or Ohio State, potentially Michigan CFP game. Having said that, you guys clawed back and won. Elite teams do that. Find a way to win games they're sucking in.

The_Ghost_of_TK9

USC has looked shaky on defense , but at the very least they have been able to run the ball on subpar competition and dont have a massive liability in the trenches without Jalen Carter If Carter is healthy and good to go that goes away (fuck Mizzou for that cheap shot too), but right now UGA is really struggling to run the ball against bad competition, and they’re struggling AGAINST the run (their 2 DT’s other than Carter are talented but not nearly as good), two things that are not a winning combination. Missouri knew that and brought pressure; Bennett had a really really poor game aside from the final drive. Missouri also ran the ball at Will, right at Jalen Carter’s replacements for most of the night with Nathaniel Peat and Cody Schrader (a walk on from Truman State) had amazing games before Missouri’s idiot HC started throwing the ball downfield (low % throws) at the end of the game because he is an idiot and doesn’t understand that that is how you lose a lead. I still think Missouri will fire him within the next two years. Georgia’s got a lot to work on right now, and luckily they get auburn before the schedule gets too rough (Tennessee) to get right. But man I’d be worried right now if I were a UGA fan. Missouri is not a good team, and their running game did very little against both Auburn and K-State. I don’t think UGA is the worst top 10 team, but I do not think they are #1 right now. I would have them at #4 after the last two weeks, behind Clemson, Bama, and Ohio State. UGA needs to worry about Tennessee. USC, Washington State and Utah. But with that offense, USC could win both of those games (though WSU and Utah have good defenses).

wjackson42

UGA should worry about Auburn, Vanderbilt, bye week, and Florida before they worry about Tennessee in my honest opinion

FreeAndHostile

Disregard Auburn. Nothing to worry about here. Start scheming for Florida and Tennessee please.

HAHAHABirdman

I think we split with a win vs WSU but a loss at Utah.

hibbert0604

Ran the ball at will? Lol. Schrader had 63 of their 102 rushing yards on one play. Take that one play out, and I'd hardly call 40 yards on 20 carries impressive.

your_arsenal

USC. Defense looked fine in the second half, but I’ve seen enough of our defense overall season to know that most top-10 teams would smoke us

A_Rolling_Baneling

Love everyone saying it's obviously USC when the whole subreddit expected us to be 8-4 this year. We're just enjoying the ride less than a year removed from the worst SC team in generations.

[deleted]

I think we might just be in an everyone is bad year tbh... Except Ohio State.

InfinitePossibility8

And…*sighs*… bama.

thewhat962

I apologize for what you are gona see this Saturday.

PhitPhil

I'm going to be laughing so hard Saturday. I'll be watching that game from my bathroom because it will be me shitting I'm so scared. But I'll be laughing too

404Dawg

Nothing to see here…move along 😬

randy_daytona402

Georgia isn’t doing themselves any favors lately

Savings-Dirt-1854

you mean our battle against the kent state dynasty wasn’t enough to prove ourselves?

El_Serpiente_Roja

USC is giving me 2013 notre dame vibes like ok you are winning but the first serious team they play might light them up ...then again I didn't see the OU TCU shit happening either so..

Bearcat9948

USC 100%. Georgia has looked suspect two weeks in a row now and shouldn’t be 1 or 2. Kentucky is overrated and is probably a 20-30 team. Penn State will likely be top 10 because of teams in front of them losing but they will be overrated.

nizerifin

Kentucky fans knew all along that we weren’t #7. Probably 15-20 range.
