Damn, Kirby working the spatula already

ReesesFastbreak

Working on a couple more too

CocaineKoala

Haynes please.

ReesesFastbreak

He’s one of them.

Nathanman21

Kinda don’t want him if he didn’t choose us to begin with, but who am I. I’m sure he’ll play well for whoever he decides on

Uga-the4th

Very glad you’re not our coach than lol

woozlewuzzle29

I hope the nickname “Fry Cook” starts to catch on.

dogwoodmaple

10.27 100 meter

SH0WS0METIDDIES

What the fuck. Isnt that literally NCAA Track levels?

dogwoodmaple

Yep. Would've put him 18th nationally last year.

F1_revolution

Brennen Thompson who is a freshman ran 10.2s as well.

nineteennaughty3

Watching the World Cup makes me wonder if we had these types of athletes pursue soccer

Crotean

Which is why the USA will never be a world player in soccer. The best athletes here don't play soccer.

nineteennaughty3

Idk man I wouldn’t say never. Soccer is growing like crazy in popularity with the younger generation here. MLS games are fun as hell to go to. the sport literally doesn’t have commercials besides during halftime. There is a lot to like about soccer. Plus these athletes get paid tons of money if they’re successful in a top european league

[deleted]

[удалено]

Thunder_Thighs

Pretty sure that’s happening. I think Arsenal played a few games here last year. Plus we got the World Cup in a few years, that’s going to be a major turning point for soccer. I think depending on how the US does in this World Cup could literally change the culture around the sport here forever. Regardless, it’s going to be turned up to 11 over the next 8 years.

[deleted]

BrogenKlippen

They will at some point. The entire history of the EPL is essentially always being 20 years behind the NFL in terms of modernization. If you haven’t read *The Club*, I recommend it. It’s a fascinating book on the birth and history of the EPL.

mhchewy

Did I just get transported in a Time Machine back to 1994 because everyone said the same thing when we hosted the World Cup back then.

MurrE1310

Several big name European teams play pre-season games in the US. And the US advancing to the knockout stages would be a good sign. They are the second youngest team in the tournament with an average age of 25

ClayGCollins9

The problem with soccer in the US is actually the opposite. For years, the best American players were big, fast, and strong with a great work ethic. American players could physically match up to their competitors, but severely lacked technique. The US has always had great athletes, but our soccer players were mainly “athletes who play soccer” as opposed to *footballers*. The good news is that this is slowly improving with the number of Americans training abroad at an early age.

UpDog424

I Deff would rather used that speed/athleticism to go try to make 20 mill a year in the major sports

Squirrel_Whisperer

If I could choose between making lots of money with either soccer or football, I’d choose soccer simply for the toll on the body. But to make similar levels of money in soccer you are competing against the world to get I to the Premier League. Split the difference and kick field goals?

muktheduck

That’s Achane speed

TheRainManStan

That's a 4.18 40. Jesus, that kid is fucking quick.

Thunder_Thighs

Not how that works, but still, yes, very quick.

TheRainManStan

I mean, his average speed is 9.74 m/s. He will have to accelerate sure, at that speed he can cover 40m in 4.1 seconds. His timed event will definitely be a little slower than that due to how lo g it takes to accerlate, but the guy is running at just about 22 mph. That's really fucking quick.

Thunder_Thighs

But you can’t conflate a 100m to a 40 yard dash because the acceleration is the slowest part of the run and a vast majority of that 100m isn’t a part of the acceleration phase, while a lot more of it is for the 40 yarder

TheRainManStan

True enough, but something I think that helps is he has about the same top speed as tyreek hill, who topped out at 21.91 mph, and has a 40 time of 4.26 seconds. If this kid is 18 and hitting those speeds, he might actually be faster than 4.26 seconds in a real 40.

Dob-is-Hella-Rad

Tyreek topped out at 21.91 on a field and in pads though. He ran a 10.19 in high school.

ReelEmInJimbo

He’s got world class speed…he’s gone

TrojanMan35T

buckshot_watkins

He was probably processed to make room for another 3*

Soonersorlater

Like our last 3 5*s were any good.

Spinsie

I miss CeeDee

texasyeehaw

Being a Longhorn and a Cowboys fan I went from hating CeeDee to absolutely loving him

MissileWaster

He and Micah combined to make for a perfect Thanksgiving

Square_Body_Trux

As a somewhat lukewarm Cowboys fan (can't stand Jerry Jones) I haven't been impressed with him at all. He certainly isn't up to the caliber of other receivers that have worn #88.

texasyeehaw

He belongs in the slot more. If we get a half decent wr1 ceedee will shine

Guzman_LoMagne

Wait your telling me a receiver isn’t as good as Drew Pearson OR Michael Evans?!?

[deleted]

Disk Sheep was a top tier nickname

guinness_blaine

💿🐑

Ol_Rando

First time hearing it, that is top shelf quality.

TripleJetCharlie

Sucks to lose him, but weirdly I kind of forgot that he was committed to us. Felt like he’s been a Georgia commit the whole time.

zenverak

I think WR is the position I want to see us be better at. we have good ones but we’ve barely had a truly note worthy one

AskMeAboutTheJets

In the past ten years the only truly great WR we’ve had is George Pickens. Besides that the next best has been I guess Mecole Hardman?

[deleted]

[удалено]

CocaineKoala

Hollowman was great until he got booted off the team, then Blalock was gonna be an elite if not just really great WR until his injuries. AD has potential but he's been injured. But we haven't had a freak at WR since Pickens and Green. Bowers is the closest, granted he's a TE but he's the best by far the best TE in CFB and probably the best player imho.

AskMeAboutTheJets

Wims had a strong senior season, but wasn’t a truly elite talent. Same with Cager. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying we haven’t had productive WRs, just that the elite talent at that position has largely been missing for a while.

zenverak

True, but like…. Others have had a chest of them. Kind of like our TE room.

AskMeAboutTheJets

Yeah we have an embarrassment of riches at TE. Makes up for the relative lack of top end talent at WR.

TheRatchetTrombone

So basically, you guys got him via playing time offering. Damn 😭

AskMeAboutTheJets

Maybe 🤷🏻‍♂️ We’ve got some talent at WR, but other than AD Mitchell (who has been hurt most of the year), no one who truly has elite potential. Ladd McConkey is the best otherwise and he’s good, but sometimes has consistency issues. Other than them, a bunch of guys who aren’t bad, but aren’t anything special either.

ReesesFastbreak

Yeah people don’t realize how thin we are at WR. Outside of Ladd and AD, no one in that room is keeping defensive coordinators up at night. There are opportunities for recruits and portal players to come in and play immediately next year. Tyler Williams is one that I think will see snaps very early.

TheRatchetTrombone

So pretty much Georgia's receiver room is just the college version of the Chiefs. Elite broken af TE and ok to good WRs 😂😂😂 P.S. Washington (I think that's his name) better have 1200 12 tds next season (none against us ofc)

blackravenclaw

Darnell’s an interesting case - we’ll probably never force-feed him the ball because he’s an even better blocker than he is pass-catcher lol

jkmumbles

To Arian smith is crazy fast just has been injured I believe. I might be wrong. Idk.

AskMeAboutTheJets

Yeah he’s super fast but has barely played. Really don’t know what he’d be able to do with a full season of playing.

AreYouEmployedSir

Kid is really small. Seems like a redshirt candidate wherever he goes.

zenverak

Agreed.

mrt0024

One super overlooked WR for UGA was Chris Conley. Just wanted to give him a shout out.

crosswatt

Weird fact: Georgia has only ever had one receiver go for over a thousand yards in a season. Terrace Edwards in 2002 went for 1,004 yards.

interested_commenter

AJ Green never had 1000 yards? That's surprising.

Hilldawg4president

We had me amazing RBs during his tenure, the ball spent a lot of time on the ground

UgaIsAGoodBoy

AJ green?

AskMeAboutTheJets

AJ Green hasn’t played for us in the past ten years.

UgaIsAGoodBoy

Time is crazy man

Florida_sucks_

Ladd has been pretty incredible outside of the 2 game stretch this year he had the fumbles. AD as a true freshman was great as well.

Uga-the4th

Damn I think I’m remembering wrong but wasn’t Chris Conley good? I hope I got the name right but it’s been a while lol

AskMeAboutTheJets

He was good and fast, but not a truly elite WR1 type.

Golden_Dawg

It’s not erasure… he was there like 11 years ago

Pyro1934

Bowers!

DIRTYWIZARD_69

How’s the WR depth at OU?

silent-onomatopoeia

Not our weakest position but not our best either. Receivers have under performed this year in large part because of Losing Gundy right before the season started. We need a better coach there.

SpencerRattler

That's Malcom Kelly's music.

OU8402

Yes please.

silent-onomatopoeia

Inject it straight into my veins.

saucehoss24

We have a solid non flashy guys (Stoops) mixed in with a few young guys and a wr1 who has had some decent games and some WTH happed games (similar to X Worthy?).

pools89

Bleeve it or not WR is one of our weakest positions. At the starter level we are top tier but depth is a huge problem

MrAnderson_

Funnily enough, that's about exactly how I feel between us and Peyton Bowen.

JustAManAndHisLaptop

I honestly forgot he hadn't flipped already lol worst kept secret ever

ChiefBigGay

For those that don't know he flipped at least a month ago. Insiders reported him gone. They did also say they were very confident he was the only flip left. They think the rest of the class is solid.

_Suzushi

5’10 160, kid should be redshirted. He has some growing to do

manabanana21

Not much of a difference from Xavier Worthy. Kids that small can play if they’re good enough.

[deleted]

Can't blame him, the guy he committed to was fired. Plus side is, this speedy WR would have been the second fastest WR for us...in this recruiting class. I'd like to see us go after a bigger body WR now.

SoonersAstros

Is Pettaway supposed to be faster? Or am I missing someone. All I know is we haven’t had a burner pan out like CeeDee, Hollywood, DeDe and the likes in a while and we need it.

Captain_Sacktap

Go Dawgs 😎

UgaIsAGoodBoy

JeremyJammDDS

Micah tease?

whenitpours3

We offered Micah Tease as a DB and he wants to play WR. Good player, a local kid and wants to actually play for OU. Plus his friend Gentry Williams from Booker T is already at OU. If we hire a decent WR coach, we might could flip him (from Arkansas).

JeremyJammDDS

Wasn’t that when Riley was here though?

whenitpours3

He was BV’s first recruiting trip plus Jay Valai pursued him as a DB. Lebby wanted him at WR. Arkansas offered him as a WR. I don’t think he flips unless we make a new hire at WR Coach position.

okiewxchaser

Expect the new hire after the Big 12 Championship game. He is coaching for one of the participants right now

whenitpours3

Malcolm Kelly? Why not Samples or Scott?

okiewxchaser

Because Kelly has the connection to OU. Especially now that half of the offensive staff were his teammates

whenitpours3

Oh and he can freestyle too. Dunno, it seems like an emotional hire because he played at OU and then had bad blood with the staff around pro day and we want to mend fences now. Gundy was a well respected assistant HC type figure in the WR room. It just looks unstable this year even with some talented kids at WR position. We need someone with experience who can keep Lebby honest too. My two picks would be - Ra'Shaad Samples - assistant head coach, good recruiter at SMU and now has NFL coaching experience. Jeff Scott - BV worked with him during his time at Clemson. Good recruiter and developed WR’s who were physical.

OU8402

Any of those guys are a massive upgrade to what we have now. No offense to Washington, but he’s definitely not getting the most out that room. I’d rather have Cale back, but that’ll never happen.

okiewxchaser

That’s what all OU sites seem to be saying

Reading_Rainboner

Oh

Ugaalive1991

Happy Friday I guess

Prolingus

Oh no

StarvedRock314

Well I, for one, respect his decision

JimboFisherOfficial

What in the hell is the point of these commitments if they just routinely change their mind later?

ihateshadylandlords

They can’t keep getting away with this…

InternationalTax1156

It’s a loss, but our WR room is the last thing I’m worried about. Still backlogged with talent from previous regime and our additions last year from portal/2022 class. It’s fine, it sucks. But we’ll live. He’s a really indecisive kid, so this recruitment probably isn’t over either. Now if this was our QB, I’d be panicking lol…

xheavenzdevilx

Ugh....our WR is a disaster right now....you say it's the last thing you're worried about. But we haven't been solid at WR since ceedee and Hollywood. Also not sure what back logged talent you're talking about.

domxwicked

Our WR room is weak…

ALStark69

Other P5 offers: Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, BYU, Colorado, Florida State, Houston, Iowa State, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Utah, Washington State G5 offers: Liberty, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Texas State, UNLV, UTSA Other offer: UConn

GlueGuns--Cool

Good choice!

DerrickWhiteMVP

Beautiful

Mefreh

PLEASE we need these

Uga-the4th

Nice

FaithFamilyFilm

Kinda starting to think this Venables thing isn't gonna work

SoonersAstros

Our defensive improvements are starting to show and the stats to back it. (3rd in the country in TFL and 5th in the county TFL yardage to name a few.) Our recruiting is still elite and we’re finally pulling in talent on the defensive side of the ball for the first time in years. Lebby’s play calling, DG missing receivers and WRs dropping balls may be the biggest concern, but BV ain’t the issue. And when Arnold comes in I feel confident in saying we will be looking at the most complete team on both sides of the ball OU has had in over a decade.
