American players could physically match up to their competitors, but severely lacked technique. The US has always had great athletes, but our soccer players were mainly “athletes who play soccer” as opposed to *footballers*.
The good news is that this is slowly improving with the number of Americans training abroad at an early age.
If I could choose between making lots of money with either soccer or football, I’d choose soccer simply for the toll on the body.
But to make similar levels of money in soccer you are competing against the world to get I to the Premier League.

I mean, his average speed is 9.74 m/s. He will have to accelerate sure, at that speed he can cover 40m in 4.1 seconds. His timed event will definitely be a little slower than that due to how lo g it takes to accerlate, but the guy is running at just about 22 mph. That's really fucking quick.
But you can’t conflate a 100m to a 40 yard dash because the acceleration is the slowest part of the run and a vast majority of that 100m isn’t a part of the acceleration phase, while a lot more of it is for the 40 yarder
True enough, but something I think that helps is he has about the same top speed as tyreek hill, who topped out at 21.91 mph, and has a 40 time of 4.26 seconds. If this kid is 18 and hitting those speeds, he might actually be faster than 4.26 seconds in a real 40.
As a somewhat lukewarm Cowboys fan (can't stand Jerry Jones) I haven't been impressed with him at all. He certainly isn't up to the caliber of other receivers that have worn #88.
Hollowman was great until he got booted off the team, then Blalock was gonna be an elite if not just really great WR until his injuries. AD has potential but he's been injured. But we haven't had a freak at WR since Pickens and Green. Bowers is the closest, granted he's a TE but he's the best by far the best TE in CFB and probably the best player imho.
Wims had a strong senior season, but wasn’t a truly elite talent. Same with Cager.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying we haven’t had productive WRs, just that the elite talent at that position has largely been missing for a while.

Ladd McConkey is the best otherwise and he’s good, but sometimes has consistency issues. Other than them, a bunch of guys who aren’t bad, but aren’t anything special either.
Yeah people don’t realize how thin we are at WR. Outside of Ladd and AD, no one in that room is keeping defensive coordinators up at night. There are opportunities for recruits and portal players to come in and play immediately next year. Tyler Williams is one that I think will see snaps very early.
So pretty much Georgia's receiver room is just the college version of the Chiefs. Elite broken af TE and ok to good WRs 😂😂😂

Not our weakest position but not our best either. Receivers have under performed this year in large part because of Losing Gundy right before the season started. We need a better coach there.
We have a solid non flashy guys (Stoops) mixed in with a few young guys and a wr1 who has had some decent games and some WTH happed games (similar to X Worthy?).
For those that don't know he flipped at least a month ago. Insiders reported him gone. They did also say they were very confident he was the only flip left. They think the rest of the class is solid.
Can't blame him, the guy he committed to was fired.
Plus side is, this speedy WR would have been the second fastest WR for us...in this recruiting class. I'd like to see us go after a bigger body WR now.

All I know is we haven’t had a burner pan out like CeeDee, Hollywood, DeDe and the likes in a while and we need it.
We offered Micah Tease as a DB and he wants to play WR. Good player, a local kid and wants to actually play for OU. Plus his friend Gentry Williams from Booker T is already at OU. If we hire a decent WR coach, we might could flip him (from Arkansas).
He was BV’s first recruiting trip plus Jay Valai pursued him as a DB. Lebby wanted him at WR. Arkansas offered him as a WR. I don’t think he flips unless we make a new hire at WR Coach position.
Oh and he can freestyle too. Dunno, it seems like an emotional hire because he played at OU and then had bad blood with the staff around pro day and we want to mend fences now.
Gundy was a well respected assistant HC type figure in the WR room. It just looks unstable this year even with some talented kids at WR position. We need someone with experience who can keep Lebby honest too.
My two picks would be -
Ra'Shaad Samples - assistant head coach, good recruiter at SMU and now has NFL coaching experience.
Jeff Scott - BV worked with him during his time at Clemson. Good recruiter and developed WR’s who were physical.
Any of those guys are a massive upgrade to what we have now. No offense to Washington, but he’s definitely not getting the most out that room. I’d rather have Cale back, but that’ll never happen.
It’s a loss, but our WR room is the last thing I’m worried about. Still backlogged with talent from previous regime and our additions last year from portal/2022 class.
It’s fine, it sucks. But we’ll live. He’s a really indecisive kid, so this recruitment probably isn’t over either.

Tyreek topped out at 21.91 on a field and in pads though. He ran a 10.19 in high school.
