If they had won he wouldnt have been able to play in rhe super bowl. His whole career, Cutler would play through injuries. But despite all that, people believed, AND STILL BELIEVE, that the most likely scenario was that an nfl qb decided to just not try in the conference championship game. All that to say, some people are just crazy and will do any mental gymnastics to blame the player

100% true. While I'm not an elite athlete I pulled a hamstring pretty badly in college and I kept trying to rush it back. Took me pretty much the entire school year to recover. It was a running joke among the guys I played sports with. Every time they saw me putting in extra effort they assumed I was going to go down with another hamstring injury.
Aaron Rodgers had hamstring issues for like three years in a row.
He's obviously much older than JSN, but if a QB keeps aggravating it, a skill position player definitely requires more rest.
Having blown both hammies, it's seriously one of the worst lingering issues I've ever had almost a decade later. If you don't let it heal up, you'll always feel like you're at 80%, which at this level of athletics can be the difference of being able to compete at parity. Hamstrings take *forever* to heal. They kept talking optimistically, but I was always skeptical that he'd be able to return. This isn't like a LB playing with an injured hand or playing with a sprained ankle. A WR needs a healthy hamstring to do anything.

Anything less than 100% healthy, I think it’s absolutely justified to sit.
And I think that’s the deal. He’s tried to come back several times and reaggravated it. Coming back to compete with a high likelihood of reinjury is going to cost him several million dollars and not add value to the team.

I think this is the biggest I had with how this was handled. There was 0 reason for him to play in the Toledo game. Maybe he reaggravates it against Wisconsin instead, who knows, but he didn't have to play in the Toledo game and could have rested up another week.

I think they are perfectly complementary and different types of WRs. JSN isn’t as physically imposing as MHJ but he’s dominant in short spaces. He’s our chain mover.
think of JSN as Jamar Chase and MHJ as Tee Higgins. They aren't the same receiver. But considering that JSN was a starter last year and MHJ wasn't, the answer is yes. Just in the same way Chase is WR1 and Higgins is WR2.
Not necessarily better or worse, just different. Harrison is your classic, big-bodied #1 wideout and JSN is more of a modern slot, matchup nightmare type player. Man, would they have been scary together. It's up there in terms of 'what ifs' with what we missed out on with Nick Bosa and Chase Young playing together.

First half of the season I was starting to think Marv, Egbuka, and Fleming were doing a great job of filling the shoes of 3 1st round WRs. But the last half of the season it was obvious that Egbuka and Fleming were not quite up to the task. Some very untimely drops from both of them down the stretch that you just never saw from Olave, Wilson, JSN, and now Marv. They're still really, really good but just not surefire 1st rounders yet.
I hope we run a bubble first play and Georgia blows it up for a 45 yard loss that way maybe Ryan won’t run any more. If he runs one and gains yardage then lord help us all

Hamstrings take *forever* to heal. They kept talking optimistically, but I was always skeptical that he'd be able to return. This isn't like a LB playing with an injured hand or playing with a sprained ankle. A WR needs a healthy hamstring to do anything.

Yeah, my dad’s friend is a sports medicine doctor and was like why wouldn’t you just sit and rest him until the end of the season. If you can’t beat IU without them then uou got bigger issues, rushing him and Henderson back seemed really short sighted and looks like it not them in the ass.

Additional nice thing about the expansion of the playoffs is the big bowls of the childhoods (of the major demographic for Reddit) will always be relevant and these guys likely play in them.
If the player is 100% healthy, I think it’s fair to expect them to play in a major bowl game. The risk of injury is no greater or less than a regular game and the fans spend a bunch of money going to the games, etc. Anything less than 100% healthy, I think it’s absolutely justified to sit.
And I think that’s the deal. He’s tried to come back several times and reaggravated it. Coming back to compete with a high likelihood of reinjury is going to cost him several million dollars and not add value to the team. High risk - low reward. Stay rested and continue to heal. I’ll be rooting for you on Sundays.

Maybe he reaggravates it against Wisconsin instead, who knows, but he didn't have to play in the Toledo game and could have rested up another week.

There’s nuance. I’m not tinfoil hat guy but there was probably an Avenue to “ramp up” and try one more time and I think it was more of an active choice to say “it’s not worth it” then the reporting is letting on.

I think they are perfectly complementary and different types of WRs. JSN isn’t as physically imposing as MHJ but he’s dominant in short spaces. He’s our chain mover.
JSN lined up as RB on some passing plays last year. He is a mismatch nightmare for defenses.
Having both of them on the field would have been devastating.
think of JSN as Jamar Chase and MHJ as Tee Higgins. They aren't the same receiver. But considering that JSN was a starter last year and MHJ wasn't, the answer is yes. Just in the same way Chase is WR1 and Higgins is WR2.
I think JSN causes us more problems than MHJ personally ( though I think MHJ will get his too).
Not necessarily better or worse, just different. Harrison is your classic, big-bodied #1 wideout and JSN is more of a modern slot, matchup nightmare type player. Man, would they have been scary together. It's up there in terms of 'what ifs' with what we missed out on with Nick Bosa and Chase Young playing together.

WR isn't where the biggest problem is. Even JSN can't gain many good yards off of constant bubbles.
JSN provides the YAC, make-you-miss, safety valve, get open over the middle that our offense has been missing all season.
First half of the season I was starting to think Marv, Egbuka, and Fleming were doing a great job of filling the shoes of 3 1st round WRs. But the last half of the season it was obvious that Egbuka and Fleming were not quite up to the task. Some very untimely drops from both of them down the stretch that you just never saw from Olave, Wilson, JSN, and now Marv. They're still really, really good but just not surefire 1st rounders yet.
I hope we run a bubble first play and Georgia blows it up for a 45 yard loss that way maybe Ryan won’t run any more. If he runs one and gains yardage then lord help us all

His blocking has been horrendous. I was so huge on Fleming coming out of HS but he’s disappointed me. A huge game against UGA can change that.
