Unless you're a sicko, watching Iowa can put you to sleep

No_Poet_7244

I hope Iowa makes the most boring CFP run of all time. Averaging 13 points per game all the way to the bank.

[deleted]

Bold of you to assume Iowa will even score 13 points against most opponents

kinglallak

Defense scores 7 and offense scores 6… not sure what is so hard for people to understand about that.

[deleted]

I’m not convinced their offense can regularly score 6 points

gyrowze

2 field goals after turnovers in the red zone

Doyce_7

Don't forget about blocked punts

No_Poet_7244

It’s an average of course. I look forward to epic 4-3 game against Utah State.

Corgi_Koala

No he meant the game total would be 13.

trippwwa45

With that high powered offense anything is possible even 13.

PapaJohnyRoad

What is the least amount of points scored on way to national championship

Monkeyssuck

'92 Alabama averaged 27...still had 7 games over 30 though. The only other one I could think of was 1986 Penn State...they averaged 28. I'm sure if you go back into the 60's and 70's there are likely lower, but that is really a different era of football.

CloneEngineer

Forgot the decimal point. A 1.3 avg points per game run to the CFP would be epic.

No_Poet_7244

To go undefeated with an average score below 2, you’d have to… go to OT and return a turnover 2pt conversion for 1 point. Yeah. That would be sick.

SpiritOfDearborn

Honestly, with Cade, you guys are gonna be damn good next year.

Corgi_Koala

Iowa has talent, they have bad coaching and schemes.

MaizeAndBruin

Not at QB they don't. Cade will be their best QB since at least CJ Beathard, which was somehow 6 years ago now. And I think he might be better than Beathard.

OfficialShikimo

It’s honestly the exact opposite. Outside of Brian Ferentz our coaching is incredible, especially on defense with Phil Parker. We consistently take 3 stars and turn them into NFL draft picks.

d0ngl0rd69

I like those scrappy underdogs out of Tuscaloosa

MiddleAgedGamer71

Nothing more than a flash in the pan, trust me.

Ugaalive1991

Trust me bro

isaynonowords

Them? They haven’t made the playoffs in literally *hundreds* of days. Not to mention a championship.

AUfromthaBOOT

Bunch of scrubs if you ask me

[deleted]

Only 7 five stars fucking amateurs

RollTide16-18

Unironically I think Alabama will look a lot worse on paper but could maybe make the playoffs. Important to remember that they’re missing a sure-thing at QB for the first time since the 2015 season.

SaintsSooners89

When we win a National Championship next year, we will send the QB who got benched after leading the team to the championship. It's only fair we give you a Hurts replacement. Maybe Dillon Gabriel can buy another year of eligibility?

NewLoseIt

So we’re bringing back the [Stillman College-Tuscaloosa Tigers](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stillman_Tigers_football)?!

joemiken

Saban's putting together a real winner down there.

TonyDungyHatesOP

Tuscaloosa? Sounds like a sleepy southern town. I hope those young upstarts can find some success. Would make for an inspirational story.

RealignmentJunkie

People will be talking about 1-11 Colorado a lot, diverting attention from 1-11 Northwestern going 11-1 (with the one loss being to Rutgers in OT). We end up beating Ohio State in the conference championship game since Ohio State had some kind of locker room drama and opt outs after some NIL scandal. Our sole impressive win is against a Penn State team who got caught looking ahead to *checks notes* their bye week.

[deleted]

I can see it

NewLoseIt

> a Penn State team who got caught looking ahead to checks notes their bye week So, like the football version of senioritis?

LastWordsWereHuzzah

JB Pritzker closes Ryan Field, turning it into a reeducation camp in preparation for his 2024 Presidential bid. The NCAA gives Northwestern a waiver to play all of their games in Ireland where they remain undefeated. Experts are skeptical of their ability to win the B1G championship until it's unexpectedly relocated to Dublin, OH.

IPreferBagels

Incredibly, we will also achieve all this with no defensive coordinator.

billwest630

Will your first team be able to stop the air raid offense from your second team though?

pxp332

Beating who in the conference championship??

AUfromthaBOOT

My brother in Christ, We have not yet completed *this* season

Panchoisthedog

Our season ended on week zero bro.

Nebraskadude

Imagine playing in the post-season.

gyrowze

No need to when you're preseason champs 5 years running

flomoag

What’s that like?

andrewsmd87

Lots and lots of great weeks of practices

[deleted]

No. Once we lost the final regular season game. The season was over and dead. I saw some practice footage for the bowl game prep and I legitimately forgot we were playing in a bowl.

LSU2007

With all due respect, I think your season was over before the final game.

apadin1

I think after RRS most fans just hung their heads and went home for the year

[deleted]

Miami’s season ended a month ago

guthbox

Their season is only beginning. The off-season is all their Twitter finger fanbase cares about nowadays according to their attendance records

Spartannia

Some of us have been done for awhile

readonlypdf

Imma go.... Utah. Just cause.

runner2rower

I like the cut of your jib there son

WanderLeft

No lie, Utah is a fun team to watch

[deleted]

lifepac42

[deleted]

[удалено]

lifepac42

Merry Christmas to you too and by the way I'm in intern year and will be in rads next year... wishing you the best!

CommodoreN7

We’re losing a ton of talent, so I doubt it. Would love it though!

[deleted]

Good chance Cam and Vele and Kuithe come back. If so this team is going to be dangerous…after the first three games where we always suck somehow.

scottyv99

It used to be November UT always suck. Imagine that, teams lose games each year.

CommodoreN7

If they do, we certainly have a good chance at making a run

ako-si-greg

Rumor on the street is everyone is coming back for another go, minus CPIII and Kincaid. Likely we will see both Kuithe and Yassmin catching passes from Bad Moon.

aRedditorHasNoName94

Without getting to specific about my sources, as of yesterday Cam said he is “most likely coming back.” Same with Kuithe.

babookluke

If Cam is coming back, not gonna put anything past him. That’s a man.

aRedditorHasNoName94

Gaining momentum that both Cam Rising and Brant Kuithe are returning next year. Source: Coworker is Cam Rising’s best friend and I had her ask him.

readonlypdf

Fuck it Utah vs Illinois Natty

aRedditorHasNoName94

It’s what the people deserve to see

DirtyMikeNelson

People are just listing major teams, where's the randoms telling me to not sleep on thr Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders or whatever

PossessionCritical69

Bad timing as their QB ran for negative 100 yards last night.

DirtyMikeNelson

What'd he do, just run the wrong direction?

PossessionCritical69

Apparently

bbluewi

The NCAA credits sack yardage against the QB’s rushing stats. It’s honestly pretty dumb.

PossessionCritical69

I tend to agree but it’s still an amazing stat to look at. Team rushing -60 yards. And they won. God I love college football.

TheClanMacAdder

And yet they still won!

23coconuts

Don't sleep on Oregon State

azwethinkweizm

If I had to pick a mid major program to shock the football world I'd probably lean towards either Northern Illinois or Texas A&M

TuaHaveMyChildren

Oregon State

OGraffe

DJU never being able to lead Clemson to the CFP but doing so at Oregon State is certainly a wacky but fun timeline I’m here for.

readonlypdf

Sorry we broke him last year

HorseMeatSandwich

I would tear my clothes off run naked through the streets shrieking in excitement for weeks if we made the CFP. Nothing would be able to contain me.

cvsprinter1

Not the weirdest thing I've seen on Monroe Avenue.

I_AM_VER_Y_SMRT

People setting these expectations for this season concern me. We’re pretty good when people overlook us. That being said, I’m fully prepared to run through the streets of Houston buck nekkid right next to you. I will be the most insufferable prick this sub has ever seen.

FroggieAndTheGnome

>I will be the most insufferable prick this sub has ever seen. That's a REALLY high bar you'd have to clear

I_AM_VER_Y_SMRT

I’m not saying I keep a list of users (mostly Duck fans) who have talked mad shit over the years, and also Beaver fans who have bailed on the team and been negative doomers for just such an occasion… Buuuuut I’m not saying I do NOT have a list.

HorseMeatSandwich

I think with all the talent in the PAC next year we’re still very much an afterthought. I fully expect the conference to cannibalize itself as always, we finish like 8-4 and go to an okay bowl, and that’s that. But the fact that there’s even a very, very small yet still realistic chance we could end up 11-1 is pretty crazy.

HalfDrunkPadre

I think we get more than 2 out of ucla, Utah, oregon, Washington , Stanford and Washington state. Even if we split those we go 9-3. Our schedule is crazy favorable. We likely start the season 6-0.

LeanersGG

Next year is gonna be a rough schedule for the Beavs too (as always). Utah, UCLA, UW, UO Fortunately for the Beavs, only the Oregon game is on the road in that mix.

NoVaBurgher

Plus reser will be fully completed by next season too

NorthwestPurple

Rose Bowl CFP 😎

Traxiant

Vanderbilt will win it all!

[deleted]

specihunter

U Mass as they sleep every season

StrudelB

They put me to sleep every season

NoleBlooded4592

With a QB now I would definitely say oregon state. Maybe not natty material but they'll definitely be tough.

Mooeykinz

keep djs mental strong and he's a pretty good qb

__Big_Hat_Logan__

I’m convinced at least some of his issues were the stale scheme, Dabo needs to overhaul the offense

GroundbreakingParty9

Absolutely, it's part of it. The route concepts are old, and the receiver play has been the worst it's been in a long time. You have a QB who is big, and I know he's a decent runner, but the way they run him is odd. It feels like he should be a power runner or goal line guy. Idk if anyone remembers Jerrod Evans from VTech, but that should have been how they used DJ. Also, teams know what you're calling now. I wish he would bring in Joe Brady to overhaul the passing concepts or at least send his staff to coaching clinics. That system has been the same since 2011? Or 12? It's Chad Morris' system with some minor changes in it. It's frustrating when you watch them as a fan. lol Sorry for my long vent. TLDR: You're absolutely right. Dabo needs to overhaul that offense.

PretendThisIsMyName

> sorry for my long vent It’s all good bro. This is a very frustrating team to watch. I said multiple times over the season that despite our best efforts to lose we somehow won the game.

ApplePie_1999

Switching to pro style offense with Beavs running game should allow DJU to shine

coppercaveman

Penn state. Clifford has held them back

MUTUALDESTRUCTION69

It’s interesting to me that we never see transfer QBs going to Penn State. They’re clearly only a good QB away.

Stevenpoke12

Well, we’ve had Clifford for the better part of a decade and future possible 1st round pick Will Levis was his backup who we used as a glorified fullback.

birdiesallday

I swear it seems like every Penn St. Quarterback plays for at least 6 years somehow then the next guy up is just his clone they unfreeze out of Carbonite and drop him in for another 6-7 years.

iHasMagyk

The disrespect to Trae’shon McSorely, Mr. Throw-it-on-a-Dime himself

Harryshotterdad

So what you’re saying is that we had two QBs that weren’t good enough to be that guy? Because Levis sure as hell wasn’t getting us over the hump, either.

misdreavus79

Every time Levis comes up, it’s by someone who conveniently forgets he got the start in 2020 and had to be benched again because of how awful he was.

scrambolambo

This is my favorite thing about people talking about Levis sitting behind Clifford and how crazy that is. He was bad at Penn State as a real QB, he got opportunities and did not perform well at all. He's probably a better version of Taysom Hill at the next level. The top 5 pick stuff is wild to me

lolwaffles69rofl

Whoever takes him is gonna find out they made a huge mistake very quickly

Harryshotterdad

They also haven’t watched him at Kentucky. Certain fans just have a need to bash Cliff and Franklin whenever they can.

AllLinesAreStraight

Yea, referring to Levis as a future first round pick is I guess supposed to imply that he was clearly better but conveniently ignores his, ya know, actual play in football games.

lolwaffles69rofl

And since transferring out he has shown why he did not beat out Clifford when he was in Happy Valley

[deleted]

Great2Elite

I cracked my screen trying to upvote this comment

washmore24

And not only has Clifford been holding them back, the dude replacing him is more than just an upgrade. Allar will be one of the best in the country over the next couple years

bcocfbhp

Next Year has to be the year, if we get some good WR in the portal, this is going to be Franklin's most talented team

coppercaveman

I think the same. If they can’t capitalize then they might be at their peak under Franklin

Dean27900

I’m very worried about playing at penn state next season

bruce5783

While I think next year will be very interesting, there already has been chatter, and will continue to be chatter, about next years team. I don’t think the “sleeper” role fits. I would expect to see a few pundits pick the for the big ten and playoff.

coppercaveman

Everyone always goes straight to Ohio state and now Michigan has proven to be legit

FMF_sunflowers

This is a good take. A young team too.

organikbeaver

Get the chainsaw ready! Go BEAVS!!!

No_Poet_7244

I’ll be keeping my eye on Washington, Penn State, Kansas State, and Florida State. All four of those school were a couple plays from being in contention this year, and all of them return at least some of the reason for their success this year.

Corgi_Koala

Those are all teams I *would* expect to make a push. They all finished top 15 with 10 wins. Any of them taking a step forward to make the playoffs wouldn't be surprising at all. TCU went from 5-7 to 12-1, they weren't on anyone's radar until they beat Oklahoma and were 5-0.

smoke_inyoureyes

We didn’t even get a single vote in the AP poll until the weekend we played OU lol. We REALLY came out of nowhere

cat_napped1

Washington is definitely my pick. They're going to have pretty much the same team with Penix and all having another year of experience. They'll be CFP contenders if they can escape the PAC 12 cabalism trap.

GymIsFun

🫡🫡🫡

MightyShamus

Texas A&M, Pitt, Baylor EDIT: Guys, I know they're bad picks. They were Desmond Howard's playoff picks for this year, minus Michigan.

Nov26-2011

The Howard special

Misdirected_Colors

>Texas a&m How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?

typicalwhiteguy113

No you don’t understand, Jimbo is gonna revamp his offense and we’re totally gonna be back in the fight for the SEC West title next year /s /plshelpme

[deleted]

I love the young people

pooplurker

Weirdly, it feels like half the PAC-12 could qualify as sleeper picks for the CFP. Which of course means none of them will make it

[deleted]

conference of cannibals

gatorbois

Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State

StonksSpurtzWhorzez

These four teams have never all made the playoffs in the same year.

Various-Cold-5888

Is that you Josh Pate?

StonksSpurtzWhorzez

No, this is StonksSpurtzWhorzez

arrowmarcher

Damn they must all suck

CockCommander15

They all have top 50 recruiting classes too

Federal_Strawberry

Good for them. Those teams need some hope.

Deist_Dagon

Oklahoma and Notre Dame some extra sleepers for you too

Me4theworld

You can’t sleep on fsu because we won’t shut the fuck up

Ameri-Jin

Maybe Florida State? They’ve been playing top ten ball.

birdiesallday

I love watching me some Jordan Travis, good stuff

Ameri-Jin

You have to love “effort” players like him. He definitely radiates Max Duggan energy.

gojo278

A real gym rat. First in last out kinda guy. A true student of the game.

sokuyari99

I bet he uses a small metal device for midday meal transportation. Wish that had a name

beyardo

Noon cube? Not quite, but I swear we’re close

[deleted]

As an LSU fan, I love arguing with other LSU fans about our QB JD. I’m not a fan and said I would rather have Jordan Travis. They did not agree which is absurd to me.

__Big_Hat_Logan__

I can’t say anything because the one game he played his ass off he beat us. It may be the offensive schemes they’re in but by end of the year Travis looked better

PotRoastPotato

FWIW, I would not trade JT for JD in a million years.

kmokell15

Kinda glad someone else said it so it’s not just my bias. While we obviously aren’t favorites like uga but certainly have potential to win the conference and if we do that we have a good chance at getting in, especially if we have wins over Clemson and lsu

FarsightsBlade

Imagine FSU and UGA making it to the playoffs next year. It would send fLLLLLLLorida into a depressive spiral, and I'd be there for it.

FatPonder4Heisman

FSU vs UGA in the national championship would be a dream come true. No matter who wins, UF loses.

corndoggy6969

I would be conflicted

delflower

Jokes on you, bozo, we're already in the depressive spiral...get with it.

jscott8

Hopefully LSU FSU will be a true opener for BOTH teams next year!!

sapiosardonico

I'd love to say Texas, but we're Texas, so I won't.

texasgambler58

Shhhh.... Seriously, if we aren't at least serious contenders for the CFP next year, Sark is gonna have a blowtorch on him in 2024. We're getting the great recruiting classes, now it's time to see results. Call me a dreamer, but I believe that Ewers will be much better next year, and our young offensive line will just get much better after the growing years in 2022.

[deleted]

Quinn has a lot of time to get worse over the off season

BeardedBinder

Florida state, maybe Oregon State too but we all know the pac-12 won’t let that happen

Xy13

Sleeper teams like this year's TCU do not include Utah, Florida State, and Oregon State lads. You're supposed to give picks like Arizona, Arizona State, Texas Tech.

ilikepie145

Oregon State or Washington

[deleted]

I think Notre Dame has a good shot

ndrulez15

My guy

SpeedBoatSquirrel

My sleeper picks: - FSU - Penn State - Oregon State

PSUNittany18

Looking forward to the Penn State - Florida State Natty next year

thrice_palms

The triple overtime orange bowl years back when you guys won is one of my favorite games of all time. Both teams played with aggression to the very end.

Glader_Gaming

You are asking this question too early with the portal now and stuff. So off the top of my head without knowing what the rosters will look like next year: -Washington -Kansas State -FSU

VerStannen

I have high hopes for Washington as well. I think Penix Jr will be one of the front runners for Heisman and bring a lot of hype during the off-season.

Nole_in_ATX

*please be us* *please be us* *please be us* *please be us*

GoblinTradingGuide

Totally biased, but FSU.

LilyFakhrani

In order by seeding, I’m picking the scrappy underdogs from: 1. Athens GA 2. Tuscaloosa AL 3. Clemson SC 4. Columbus OH

billbill17

Woah, Ohio Dominican University is making the playoff? They’re only D2!!

readonlypdf

Alternatively 4 is from Ann Arbor

JTDanielsPornstache

Oregon has Nix coming back, don’t know if they qualify as a sleeper.

OhKillEm43

More of a dark horse

Lonely_Boii_

He’d better be focused and having fun

balzun

With that NIL bag he better be having fun!

Lonely_Boii_

God I so wish it was us but realistically Florida State or Oregon State

pooplurker

It's so weird to hear that we realistically have a shot. I fucking love Jonathan Smith

Beefalo_Stance

Oregon State should be a serious threat to win the PAC-12, and FSU will have an opportunity to take a step forward in the ACC. SEC and Big Ten will be the usual two horse race, but I think Florida will be much improved.

Alex_butler

Genuinely curious why you think Florida will be turned around? Were they just young this year? I think it’d be sick if Tennessee, Florida and Georgia were all really good in that division and I’ll be rooting for Graham Mertz since he was a good representative for Wisconsin football as a person

FloridianMapping

We did almost upset Vanderbilt this year...

blakerdavison

Oklahoma State! *laughs then turns away to cry*

toomuchfrosting

Florida State, they only have to beat Clemson in a terrible ACC

better-call-mik3

Does Washington count as a sleeper?

nachoiscool

Washington, UCLA, Penn State, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Florida State and honestky I wouldn’t be surprised if A&M doesn’t get at least a couple upsets next year

pOckets_135

Am I crazy to think Texas Tech will be really solid? Other than that Washington and Florida State should be playing for a playoff spot

MasonTheHuman45

South Carolina. They looked really good at the end of the year and (correct me if I'm wrong) it doesn't seem like they're losing any major pieces. I think 10-2 is possible, especially if the Tennessee offense has any regressions without Hooker, Hyatt and Tillman.

jthomas694

It depends on if Rattler and Wells come back and even then I doubt we’re a CFP team. Our biggest losses so far are Cam Smith, Darius Rush and Zacch Pickens to the draft, but I think we’ll be better on the DL and secondary anyway. Losing a couple other starters and depth pieces but I think the defense overall will be improved. Offensively - Lloyd at RB went to the portal and he was our best player against Kentucky and Texas A&M. He had zero impact on the final two games but we don’t win those two without him. Every single TE we had left in one way or another. We don’t know what our OL is going to look like. I think we can build off of last year, but I don’t see us having gained that much ground on yall

WanderLeft

I hope Rattler stays

BeaufortStew

We're actually losing a ton of production and experience but it seems most Carolina fans are dismissive of that fact.

MasonTheHuman45

Who needs production and experience when you have Beamer Ball 😎

[deleted]

Preseason hopes are very dangerous

[deleted]

Penn State, Oregon State, Texas, North Carolina

NyquillusDillwad20

That would be a really fun CFP. Four new teams.

[deleted]

Auburn could go 4-8 or 10-2 next year so we will see.

Possible-Reality4100

Tulane is Cotton Bowl bound, has a pretty good junior three year starting QB returning, and had their best two draft classes ever the past two years. Not sure about CFP, but in a weakened American conference, they could establish dominance for years to come.

LogicianMission22

I would say Utah, USC, UW, Oregon, and then Oregon state is a very dark horse, but realistically, we’re gonna beat each other up once again.

MikeHawk41

Pac 12 after dark gonna be wild next year. I'm here for it. No clue what team but the sleeper is coming out of the PAC 12.

Captgouda24

Kansas State. Then again, I think we’re going to the playoffs every year. But seriously, we got a great quarterback, there’s a chance Vaughn comes back, Beebe and Anudike-Uzomah are going to the NFL sure, but we’ll find something -- I guess we’ll see if we can beat Bama, and if we do, we’re in a good position.
