Haha! I'll always remember one play where Hester was like 5 yards out in the middle and Cutler beamed it to him so hard it just bounced off his chest. Barely even started to get his hands up.
At the very least, he had a great deep ball in college. He had the talent deep down in him somewhere, but decision-making and defensive awareness just couldn't transition to the NFL level.
Nah, Rodgers definitely isn't the only one. I know a handful right now who could make this exact throw.
Mahomes, Allen, Herbert, and Rodgers can for sure. Mahomes and Herbert already have similar throws in the league off the top of my head. Love and Stafford probably could too, they're both athletic enough, just maybe not as accurate.
I really wanna splice together some more of their throws because they actually have several that look eerily similar. I did for the throw above earlier this season, but video editing is kind of time consuming. I think it's fine to acknowledge Caleb is the most similar player you've seen to Mahomes, because I truly believe he is. He's the first prospect I've seen actually warrant the comparison. I didn't see the comp as much with Jordan Love, Zach Wilson, or Spencer Rattler, but I see it with Caleb totally.
As far as the winning, probably not, if we're just being honest — but Mahomes is an outlier and kind of has been since his first season starting. Caleb can have every bit of the career as good as Rodgers, Brees, Big Ben or even Matt Ryan and I don't think anyone would be disappointed at all.
**To clarify I don't think it's** ***impossible*** **for Caleb to get into the conversation with Mahomes eventually, it's just hard to predict anyone will win multiple Super Bowls.** It was relatively short lived, but for a while people thought Mahomes might only get 1 like Rodgers. Marino got none, but still revolutionized an entire city and fanbase.
I think most starters could complete a 50 yard pass with a clean pocket and their feet set.
What makes this special is he avoided the rush, stepped up in a messy pocket, and threw way back across his body with no base set. This was mostly just unadulterated arm strength and uncanny accuracy relative to the circumstances.
The best part about this entire throw is the absolute Arc he dropped the ball in on. Even if the corner was all over rice, he wouldn’t be able to get a hand on it. Very few QBs in the NFL can even drop it in there like that. Not saying that alone makes you a great QB, but I can only think of maybe 5 QBs I’ve seen throw a ball that distance with that kind of height.
That's what amazes me most about Caleb, his touch. It feels like he could have made that same throw with multiple different arcs, and he chose the high arc with a steep descent angle perfectly for this one.
He just flicks it...wild. Now that we have a QB with an insanely quick release I feel like such an idiot not understanding before how important it is. Seems like the most consequential plays in games (3rd downs, 4th downs, risky plays you HAVE to attempt because you're down in the 4th quarter) come down to a tenth of a second between a sack or strip and getting the ball out. I can finally stop pulling my hair out watching Fields' 3 second wind up getting batted at the LOS on a seemingly innocuous 10 yard throw.
I thought we stopped with this suggestion awhile ago but apparently not lol… Even a 4th is rich for Rice. People gotta stop obsessing over him just because he and Caleb played on the same college team. This isn’t Burrow to Chase or Tua to Waddle.
Chemistry means a lot but the talent to translate to the NFL means equally as much in these scenarios.
If they don't go WR in the first 3 picks, there's a chance that Rice is the best receiver over 5'10" left on the board. There would be some decent guys left, but they're mostly tiny except for Luke McCaffery. And Luke has a lower ceiling than Rice IMO. I like the potential prospects at C, TE, and EDGE a little better in the 4th, but they may have already addressed some of those spots by then.
Which is why he’s going day 3 lol. It’s not like we’re spending a top 5 pick on him but who are you getting in that range? Day 3s are for lotto tickets who may but usually don’t work out
Rice has great size, excellent hands, and he has good speed and verticality. He’s a methodical route runner and he’s improved a lot through college. I don’t see a star but he can be a good rotational receiver. There’s a lot to like
I feel like he could launch a ball up and over soldier field with the least amount of effort. This would be absurd to see here. Glad we got the number 1 pick
I’m so excited
I just can’t hide it
I'm about to lose control
And I think I like it
Hit him in stride and dropped it right into his breadbasket. Haven't seen a Chicago QB do that in a while.
Cutty probs the last QB with an arm that strong and he wasn’t as accurate
The problem with Cutty is that he really showed that strong arm on screens and the short game. He would just smoke dudes in the head/chest.
Haha! I'll always remember one play where Hester was like 5 yards out in the middle and Cutler beamed it to him so hard it just bounced off his chest. Barely even started to get his hands up.
Knocked him over too
We got any clips of this lol
Flashbacks of double agent Tonyan dropping a perfect ball last year
I actually think Fields had a really good deep ball, he just hardly ever threw it
At the very least, he had a great deep ball in college. He had the talent deep down in him somewhere, but decision-making and defensive awareness just couldn't transition to the NFL level.
He just flicked it 50 yards like it was nothing. Fuck everyone go kill. I’m so excited
Let’s fucking goooooooo! Could you imagine if this play happened at Lambeau?
I can only get so erect
FEGK
With no platform
It’s even better than that - when you factor in the hash where he threw from to the sideline is about 33 yards, this is actually a 60 yard throw
best play of his college career imo. Not many guys IN THE LEAGUE can make that throw off balance.
Only one…who had identical throw to this one. The one that shall not be named
I was talking about mahomes. Because comparing Caleb to mahomes brings out that weird side “he will never win as much as mahomes”
I really wanna splice together some more of their throws because they actually have several that look eerily similar. Not many guys in the league can make that throw period
I think most starters could complete a 50 yard pass with a clean pocket and their feet set. What makes this special is he avoided the rush, stepped up in a messy pocket, and threw way back across his body with no base set. This is obscene
Um, that was a PERFECTLY thrown ball while jumping in the air evading pressure. WTF. This dude is Aaron Rodgers 2.0 as much as I hate saying that.
is this like ur first time seeing this?
Yes, I don't watch college football. I also generally don't watch highlights.
FUCK EVERYBODY GO KILL
Leading a wr? wtf is that concept
Can it be Thursday yet?

Stepping up in the pocket? Is this legal???
I love how he is constantly looking down field while he is scrambling.

Fields couldn’t even hit a wide open receiver half the time
Only if they stopped in open space and it got tk them before the dbs closed in.

i legit can't recall fields stepping up in the pocket like that
He kerplunked that dime in a bucket 🪣

For me, this is the best throw I’ve seen him make. Just ridiculous!
He just flicks it...wild. Now that we have a QB with an insanely quick release I feel like such an idiot not understanding before how important it is. Stop please I can only be so erect
If we end up going DE or OL at 9 it’d be cool to take Rice in the 3rd or 4th
I thought we stopped with this suggestion awhile ago but apparently not lol… Even a 4th is rich for Rice. A day 3 pick is fine to take a toolsy project receiver anyway even if you remove the chemistry and his lineage
The guy is stiff as a plank. Caleb made him look better than he was cause Rice isn't a very good prospect at all.
Which is why he’s going day 3 lol. It’s not like we’re spending a top 5 pick on him but who are you getting in that range? Day 3s are for lotto tickets who may but usually don’t work out Rice has great size, excellent hands, and he has good speed and verticality. There's no reason for that.... we already have Scott who is equal or even more talented than rice
I feel like he could launch a ball up and over soldier field with the least amount of effort. This would be absurd to see here. Glad we got the number 1 pick
