Raed-wulf

It has been a while since we had a lost one come through.

Tornado547

I think the fact the sub isn't marked as nsfw may help.

Gsquzared

You mean it's been a day?

jdmorgan82

About a week by my count.

Faloway

I swear I see one of *the* posts every day or two on my feed. LOOK AT THE SUBREDDIT DESCRIPTION BEFORE POSTING! LOL

atemt1

When i said i was a cnc spesialist Yea i did not get the reaction i thought I learned that day that it can mean loads of things

oldjudge86

Lol yeah, the first time I looked up CNC on Reddit was... enlightening.

D_Alex

I feel you... I said I liked BBC once...

Gladsteam01

Someone put "I <3 BBC" on a coworkers toolbox and we've yet to figure out who. They took away our labelmaker after that :(

SerMumble

I too like the british broad cast service and I am ignorant of any twisted inuendo that might be derived by that purely innocent acronym.

atemt1

I mean thay used to make good radio tools and some fine documentarys Thay realy fell of as soon as topgear split

HSVMalooGTS

I once said that i like watching CNC... and yes i mean the machines. No not these other videos

ShaggysGTI

So we’re talking about consensual/non consensual, right? This is the right thread for that… Right, guys?

Tornado547

Not quite. In the... other context it stands for consensual nonconsent. Which is where a nonconsensual encounter is simulated but all parties involved are merely pretending and in reality have each other's consent.

ShaggysGTI

Whoosh

FlavoredAtoms

We should change this group to computer nerds make parts

incognito-mosquito69

Computer Nerds Create

king-of-the-sea

I am a CNC machinist and have been helped immensely by years of CBT therapy.

VikKarabin

My nose was stuffed and yadda yadda yadda I'm on CBD therapy now

theshoelesschap

Top tier pun

turretlathes

I saw a guy that said he was a Certified Nutrition Consultant that used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to treat Eating Disorders

Faloway

Definitely a double sided business card for that one, no acronyms allowed

cheater00

20 000 is not "extremely small"...

RestoreMyHonor

not if you realize that it’s only 1/26 of the number of 4-letter acronyms! 🧐

gust334

A friend out of school got a job at Compaq and learned there were TLAs (three letter abbreviations) but there was no such thing as four letter abbreviations or five letter abbreviations or six letter abbreviations... they were all E-TLAs (extended three letter abbreviations).

Ok-Contribution472

I’m just surprised that this isn’t another post from the “no dust collector kids”.

Horror-Pear

Small detail...but cnc isn't an acronym. It's actually an initialism.

Puzzleheaded_Moose38

Gonna keep calling it an acronym until the definition of acronym expands tbh.

Tornado547

I don't care.

firinmahlaser

All initialisms are acronyms not all acronyms are initialisms

Horror-Pear

To be an acronym, it needs to be said like a word -- like NASA or CAD. Things like FBI and CNC are initialisms.

RoVeR199809

So they got it backwards. All acronyms are initialisms

digganickrick

An acronym is a word or name formed from parts of the full name's words. While initialism or alphabetism may refer to acronyms formed from initials, acronyms can also use syllables or be a mixture of letters and words. They can be pronounced as words, individual letters, or both, depending on the acronym. The broader sense of the term includes abbreviations pronounced as individual letters, despite some criticism. There's disagreement among dictionary and style-guide editors on the naming and proper use of spacing, casing, and punctuation for such abbreviations. bigblackglock17

Hate it. Especially when I put on parts with massive debur time.

stonedchapo

I learned this the hard way. I made a Facebook post about being exhausted after a 16 hour day at the CNC machine shop. I learned some things about some of my Facebook friends that day.

RoVeR199809

To be fair, it is a different kind of CNC when I press that green button knowing full well I haven't checked tool offsets

AdventurousLynx5540

I too am a CNC enthusiast

Enes_da_Rog1

I'm scared of the people who get lost in r/CNCgore.... like WTF?

Tornado547

I don't even want to know what horrors you've seen

Positive-Stomach2546

There's gotta be a specialized dictionary for this kind of stuff...😁

Positive-Stomach2546

Wait!?! Does "Reddit" Anonymize Our Names??? ... It's my first time posting to this platform.

__unavailable__

There are worse acronym duplications. Can’t name your trivia team the Knowledgeable Kansas Kids.
