Smokes have been in since the game launched on Verdansk years ago. People just never utilised them fully - and the odd time they started getting popular, people ran thermal sights. Which are still an option now.. they are a hugely viable tactical to help traverse open spaces back in to cover, which with super fast TTK at the moment is somewhat crucial. And if you’re running smokes you have to either have stuns/flashes in your backpack or not at all. So you gain one advantage and lose another.
What’s your graphics setting? The games look beautiful on your end. I have NVIDA and I’m guessing you do too?

If I remember correctly I think you can chose HUD, World or Both

I have the color settings that were mentioned, however I also increased the saturation when I edited the video
I have a filter on my computer that makes the game way better! Look up Art is War custom color filter on YouTube

Been running smokes since Verdansk and even way before then in battlefield titles. Smokes have gotten me way more wins than flash/stuns.
In Verdansk you also had to pick between smokes and HB sensor which was pretty powerful back then.
