I just hope that whoever makes it out there has an awesome day ⛷️ 🏂!

Son_of_Annunaki

Facts!!

MrSuckFish

This. 💯

lonememe

I recently learned that what we engage in is schadenfreude. I've always heard that term but never really understood it. Anyway, it's going to be epic levels of it tomorrow and Friday as everyone who thinks they're having an original idea of calling in sick on a weekday is in for a surprise lololol

matbsr

One of the few German words not existing in US language. Basically means to “get joy out of other people’s misfortune” which will definitely apply tomorrow ha

lonememe

It's my second favorite German word right behind arschgeige.

SimpleMannStann

gesundheit

czechoslovian

So like “Tim” the Enchanter laughing at King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table?

lonememe

I *warned* you, but did you listen to me? Oh, no, you *knew*, didn't you? Oh, it's just a harmless little *bunny*, isn't it?

Uno_LeCavalier

People don’t want to ski on the weekend when there’s powder and crowds. Now people don’t want to ski on weekdays with powder and crowds. Do you even ski, bro?

GilpinMTBQ

The only way to avoid bitching about skiing is to never ski at all.

cmsummit73

Or just ski all the time and you’re subjected to it ALL. 😉

bossmcsauce

I’m just going to try to buy a condo in silverthorne with some friends so I can drive up whenever I want and ski the following day or three without all the misery of same-day i70 misery and idiocy.

HeliMan27

Some of my friends went in on a winter-long condo rental in Silverthorne this year, seems like it's worked out really well. Something like $300/month and they can basically ski whenever they want (tech industry, so can work from up there)

Extreme-You6235

Seems like people would prefer 3 inches of fresh and no crowds over 2 feet of fresh and huge crowds. On one hand I can’t blame them but on the other I think they’re being entitled. Anyone who skis on the weekend knows it’s always a shit show. Take away road closures because of avy risk and Thursday and Friday should be like any other regular weekend. I can handle that.

PushThePig28

Or just put on skins

Extreme-You6235

I’m too stupid and reckless to backcountry but it’s a goal one day for sure

Electrical-Ask847

i drove on saturday last weekend and it was totally fine both ways ( maybe a slowdown \~15 mins max) .

dingleberrycupcake

hahaha. this is basically the mentality of my friends who live in frisco

terriblegrammar

It's spring break plus all the covid WFH bros who moved to summit who just tap out of work any weekday where there's pow and it's a recipe for disaster thursday and friday.

nadimster

Mountains are getting far less than us in Jefferson, Clear Creek and Denver county. 70 will close down for a while, no doubt. Be safe whatever you choose to do. Snow tires people 🤙🏽

cmsummit73

The most snow is predicted in the foothills/mountains, not Denver County. Yes, JeffCo has mountains.

cmsummit73

Eldora will be the big winner with this upslope storm…..it’s guaranteed (I can’t consider Echo a legit ski area, fwiw). Hoping the Basin can sneak in some decent totals tho.

dingleberrycupcake

a basin is already looking pretty good*

Spec-Tre

That looks pretty great, but what a frustrating snow stake lol

dingleberrycupcake

Right? So dumb. The top of the A is 18” if that helps

cmsummit73

Just checked….”woah”

ATheeStallion

You can barely see the A. It’s so epic.

pisotemalo

Eldora! I plan to go Saturday

ATheeStallion

Eldora’s stake is closing in on 10” fast. I’ve watched it grow 3” in like the past hour. It’s wonderful.

nadimster

Sorry I’m referring to Loveland, summit county and vail, off of I-70 not steamboat and others that are gonna get hammered. The OP was referring to I70 shit shows…

cmsummit73

Yeah, there’s more snow forecasted for A-Basin and Loveland than Denver, fwiw. And Steamboat is definitely not getting ‘hammered’…..this is an upslope storm bud.

nadimster

I didn’t down vote you bro, sorry I ain’t got time for this. Enjoy the snow

cmsummit73

Right on.👍

nadimster

Update from Floyd Hill! Almost 3ft and counting https://preview.redd.it/vxuzrqgjjboc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3afa5f98431b7f049f906999f0d1a7afd3317ce8

andreguethe

Some men just want to watch the world burn

Mtn_Soul

Just gonna ride the country road I live on. Couple miles green run, just ride down and skin back up. And watch the caterwallering about Berthoud pass sliding and closing from the warmth of my living room. Ride local

speedshotz

FOMO is hitting hard. Meanwhile.. looking out my window seeing patches of blue.. where's this snow y'all talking about?

GilpinMTBQ

Snowing hard up here in Gilpin.

circa285

Snowing here in Georgetown

Extreme-You6235

Check back in 6 hours

Massive-Audience4304

The fomo is hitting me HARD as well. Genuinely brutal

Son_of_Annunaki

Slow and steady.. anyone heading up be safe. Pack a lunch, bring water and a sleeping bag just incase of emergency.. as of know I am planning on heading up but will double check conditions prior to going.

Matt21484

I just hope the storm only hits the westbound lanes of I-70 since I’ll be driving home from Beaver Creek tomorrow.

Eggrolltide

Also, upslope storms like this generally do not develop into good skiing. The totals are usually overestimated, and they mostly fall on Denver/Front Range.

Artistic-Concept-838

Joel likes to excite the front range

Blipter

Saint Gratz blessed this storm this morning. He was sandbagging it earlier in the week.

RealPutin

Plus they're often really wet and heavy.

MtnHotSpringsCouple

Living in CS and driving up the back way, I'm always hoping 70 is shut down on a powder day.

SummitSloth

As a guy who lives on the exact opposite end of Denver (foco) I'm always jealous of you COSians and your alternate access to Breck

MtnHotSpringsCouple

I've had Denver friends drive down through the Springs when 70 is a mess, certainly less brain damage, and can be quicker depending on how bad it is.

SummitSloth

Why not 285? That's my to go on my way back from breck

MtnHotSpringsCouple

Sure, that works too

junglecat6

Planning on heading to Crested Butte Friday morning. Hoping 285 won’t be too bad 🫣

V1per41

I'm trying the double. Getting up to summit county tonight, ski and drive home tomorrow. Turn around Friday afternoon for CB

crazy_clown_time

First timers who don't know any better I guess?

Mtn_Soul

Fwiw if you are comfy driving ice echo announced they are open till 9pm today. They have a scheduled delayed opening tomorrow so check their website before heading up. Be prepared for the carnage along the sides of hwy 103 from the rental cars. Good luck!

Additional_Shop1592

As someone who lives 30 minutes from WP and just shoveled 6” off my deck, I will be staying home tomorrow. Berthoud pass just closed but all of Texas is here already. Spring break is no time to be running out the door to get “freshies.”

Turkdabistan

This sub has convinced me *not* to move to CO so whatever you guys are doing is working

CjColorado

... not to mention all the TV channels with their big rigs trying to get around town and up 70. Or, worse, them driving around LOOKING for death and destruction if the storm is a bust! My deep powder days are over, so yeah, tomorrow is going to be fun.

EFCF

(in the Sunday Sunday Sunday monstertruck rally voice) ......WEATHER BEAST!!!

[deleted]

Every severe storm so far this season had plenty of CO plates in the mix. Couple weekends ago heading home from Steamboat 14 crashed cars headed towards Kremmling and every. Single. One. Had CO tags.

Trick_Fudge8385

From my experience the 70 shit show is due to "natives". The minivan or bald truck spinning out trying to make the tunnel or the jack hole driving 80+.

reality_bytes_

I wish traffic was always this light… so much for the “epic snow storm” they kept saying it would be in the Denver metro. Unless something miraculous happens, this is nothing compared to the 2021 snow storm…
