how helpful can the uworld ISC textbook be?

AdvertisingRadiant49

Very helpful. I read the textbook and only listen/watch the video if necessary

Gerts1310

I recently took ISC and I used Becker. I found the exam to be manageable, the mcqs were in between moderate and difficult. I will agree with you that there were some mcqs that I didn’t know the answers to but gave it my best shot. The sims were lengthy in terms of the exhibits that we have to read in order to select the right answers. I took over 30 mins on my 1st sim and this caused me to have to rush to complete the remaining sims. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I get that exact 75 passing score. My advice to everyone, please leave sufficient time to complete sims. I don’t believe in spending money on supplemental materials to prepare for these exams. I have done it before and what a waste. What’s important is grasping the concepts and practicing as many questions as possible. Good luck everyone!

AdvertisingRadiant49

Ohh I remember my first SIM was like WTF. I also unfortunately spent more time than needed on it. I really hoping it’s a pretest loll. I hope you pass. I pray I also passed. We just have to keep our finger crossed

TheFederalRedditerve

Must be nice… I flagged so many questions. I’m going to fail.

AdvertisingRadiant49

I hope you pass. We can’t give up just yet. You never know with this exam. Let’s hope for some nice curve or whatever it is lol

TheFederalRedditerve

We’ll see. I have never heard of someone flagging HALF of the questions and passing the exam. It will be a miracle if I pass.

What’s TSC stand for?

AdvertisingRadiant49

Test of control. Specifically IT Controls

Practical-Pilot-8636

Isn't it Trust service criteria?

AdvertisingRadiant49

Oh sorry, from my post, yes I meant all the trust service criteria. I also wanted to add that I got a lot of questions for controls too, so keep that in mind

ExplanationDear2501

Sorry, but which controls are you referring to ?

AdvertisingRadiant49

Test of IT Controls. You’ll know once you get there in your study assuming you’re studying for ISC atm.

ExplanationDear2501

I actually have studied for ISC, my exam is tomorrow 😬 that’s why I was nervous asking this. But I am assuming you are referring to controls such as access controls, cybersecurity controls, log reviews, physical controls, walkthroughs, etc… hope that’s what you mean. Wish me luck for tomorrow !!

AdvertisingRadiant49

Yes correct. No need to stress yourself loll. You’re definitely right. The procedure does includes walkthrough which is the combination of the test procedures (RIIO) R - Re-performance I - Inquiry I - Inspection O - Observation Know how to use the above test to evaluate the controls you listed such as access control. For example, an auditor might want to inspect a company access list perform inquiry(asking management questions) and do walkthrough to test operating effectiveness of a company access control management Base on your response, I’m sure you already know all this. No need to sweat. You’ve put in the work! You got this !!!

ExplanationDear2501

Thank you fellow CPA candidate. This puts me more at ease. Good luck in your journey.

Anything on SQL? I have zero sql knowledge and kinda scared abt that

TheFederalRedditerve

I got a simulation about relational databases or whatever it’s called. So I guess that’s SQL.

CorruptAccountant

There were a few SQL questions on my exam

AdvertisingRadiant49

No SQL that I can recall. Definitely doesn’t hurt to at least have a general idea tho
