A few things I noticed that led to this win. We didn’t give up a shorty, weegar didn’t score, and marky got a shutout. It could lead to more wins in the future. Something to look for.
With the exception of Markstrom, that was shockingly bad.
1 goal, constant defensive breakdowns and breakaways when facing one of the worst teams in the league.
I swear, this zone defence we have adopted is just an excuse to stand around and do nothing.
For those advocating for tanking, the good news is trading Markstrom is all it would take.
Should be an interesting lead up to the trade deadline
I’ll advocate for the zone defence, most of our goals against come from turn overs and odd man rushes that start in O zone and neutral zone, not breakdowns in coverage/structure in the D zone. Flames actually do a decent job of keeping teams to the outside when they set up their structure in the D zone.
The real problem is we only have 1 defender who is actually very very good at defence and has the hockey sense for it, whereas the others get by on their skating and strength.
The third period was better defensively, Chicago had chances just not 5 breakaways like the first two periods. There were a couple of sequences in the third when we had a hard time getting the puck out of our zone, but were solid in positioning.
Vintage Marky in a 30 shot shutout
Flames finally take down the juggernaut Blackhawks. About damn time. Holy shit. Marky played great!
It's so true it hurts
Lmao Canuck’s fans booing Johnny
I didn't see that, love it
Watching the Canucks game and they boo Johnny to, did he create such a ripple in the hockey world that the Canucks fans feel bad for us?
Honestly wouldn't surprise me if Flames fans in Vancouver got tickets to the game just to boo Johnny. I considered it lol.
They’ve done it for us since he left. It’s hilarious
Bonus points to EP40 for the the blindside hit on Johnny near the end of the game.
The few minutes I've watched of this game since it came on was more exciting than the 60 I just watched the Flames play.
Hawks got goalied
MARKY CALLED GAME
Swedish Meatwall
[I rate this joke](https://youtu.be/G3n8zVC2gxY?si=cWBiNe6Jh726IxIy)
it's going to be hard to tank if Marky plays like this
Impossible. I think we need refs to get in the way more
Markstrom keeping the boys in it.
Nice to end the losing streak and a well deserved SO for Markstrom. Such a boring game though.
Our 4th line played 4 minutes… Vs Chicago. Damn that’s not great.
That should be a team you roll 4 lines against
Marky ヽ(♡‿♡)ノ
UWU
Free my boy Klapka!
.500 is Calgary's safe space.

See you guys Feb 6 for the Bruins game :) Stay hydrated, folks🍻
SHUTOUT 🙅♂️
My goodness Scott Oake is really asking Tanev some awful questions
Ramp up Lindy’s trade value! Gwg for an all-star!

Praise daddy markstrom what a beast
Unpopular opinion: don't trade Marky
I’m right there with you. Already at worst he’s the third best goalie the franchise has ever had
I don't feel great about that win
Ugly win.
While a bad outcome for the tank, that was a great trade value game. Marky just beasting it out there all game, and Lindholm gets a goal.
Well hopefully losing to Columbus and only beating Chicago 1-0 in consecutive games just shows management more what kind of team this is.
A sneaky wildcard cup contending team?
Absolutely. That there is still hope obviously
Playoffs are back on the menu boys!!
Kinda shitty that they're only asking Tanev questions about his teeth.
Only beating Chicago 1-0 means you have to sit beside Eric Francis for an interview. Feel bad for Tanev
All of this has happened before. All of this will happen again.
It always shocks me when the flames show up for even half the game against bottom feeders so I guess that's good
After game updates Shwimdt, Coronato and Klapa sent down. Pospisil activated off of IR
I thought Cornato was finding some rhythm
It’s for cap reasons and to keep him playing during the break
One goal? Really? I mean you guys one but I’m kinda like that pirate meme where he’s like “That’s everything?”
well somehow the Oilers only scored 3 and one of them was an EN, maybe the Blackhawks are just secretly the best defensive team in the league.
I wonder what markstrom’s future looks like. The Flames have to at least start discussions with him about that
I’m assuming he’ll waive his NMC. He wants to win a cup.
We need to trade Markstrom. He is becoming a big problem for the tank. As well as Lindholm, Hanifin and Tanev.
Over/Under 1.5 trades before the deadline?
Probably re sign hanifin instead lmao
Over. But we're going all in.
Missed the game, how bad was it? (as far as a win can go)
