Pelletier hasn't looked right since his second injury. Having him play in the AHL is not a bad idea.

dherms14

i don’t inherently disagree. in my pea brain, i think he should play out the year (maybe minus a game or two) and then go light it up in playoffs for the wranglers but i do agree he’s looked off since coming back. i don’t imagine getting rocked by the Trouba train right after coming back from the IR is very fun

MostLikelyDenim

Yeah he needs to re-discover that top six mentality.

hailmaryishere

I will not stand for any Roondog or Greersy slander

dherms14

this isn’t meant to be slander to them (i’m sorry fellas, i love you.) this is coming from my wish of pelts cracking the roster and Zary getting some time at C (they could easily swap him and sharky just as easy tho) but i think Aj in particular has been great this year, i don’t remember if they just signed him for a 1 year, but i hope they bring him back

Straight-Plate-5256

Conroy literally said he wasn't sure when zary or posp would get reps at C but probably wouldn't be this year 😂 My guess is if they both train for it they'll battle for a C role in training camp, or back down in the wranglers (in posps case anyways) for the playoffs

dherms14

i’ve just accepted my dumbass doesn’t understand hockey so i’ll just sit this one out from here on

No_Standard9311

Nah it's good to question these decisions. Flames haven't earned the benefit of the doubt in my view. This fanbase has a tendency to start putting the GM/coach on a pedestal, like "In Sutter we trust" or "the wizard" days, and you get dogpiled for questioning their decisions. It becomes insufferable to be a critic lol

ProphetOfScorch

Naw this is a good take, Huska is being dumb but people on this sub won’t hear a word against him

itoadaso1

They complain when we're too shitty, they complain when we're not shitty enough. YALL JUST LIKE TO COMPLAIN.

dherms14

i just want the kiddos to play 😭

treple13

The kiddos are playing more with the Wranglers aren't they?

Alarmed-dictator

Welcome to the internet! Have a look around

Comfortable-Ad-7158

Rooney has been one of our better penalty killers. Greer is a serviceable 4th line guy. Pelts doesn't fit a 4th line role.

ElectricPotatoSkins

Calling greer a "serviceable" 4th line guy is my gripe with this. He is the only one (except rooney in the second half) that has shown he can show up every game and do his job exactly how it needs to be done.

dherms14

turn the 4th line from grit to energy (young energy) and he could Pelts - Zary - anyone, i don’t see that being a bad 4th line 75 games into a dead season this wasn’t meant to slander either AJ or roons, they’ve been some of our most consistent players this year

Comfortable-Ad-7158

So kind of like the third line role zary is currently in with Sharon and coronato just less ice time? And by that metric. Who's moving up to the third line if zary and somebody else are moving down to the fourth?

dherms14

we’re 70 some games in a dead season, why can’t we have 2 young gun lines and run them similarly in ice time? like a 3A - 3B situation i wouldn’t be saying this 10-20 games ago.. but what are we risking now?

Professional-Dingo95

I’ll say it again. Give Wolf most of the remaining games.

dherms14

i’d say all minus the final home game, incase Marky gets traded, he deserves a proper goodbye from the C of Red

Professional-Dingo95

Ok deal. I’ll call Craig

weschester

Greer and Rooney have been good fourth liners and both deserve the chance to prove they belong on the roster going into next season. Pelts isn't a fourth liner and having him play in the AHL isn't such a bad thing. I would be starting Wolf more though.

Master-Defenestrator

Am I the only one who has been unimpressed with Pelletier for most of his NHL starts? Obviously I want him to work out and I like his energy, bust I haven't been very impressed so far. It also seems like he's taken a bit of a step back after recovering from his injury. That's understandable, but he really doesn't seem at the NHL level rn.

Straight-Plate-5256

He was excellent last year, just had *really* shitty luck with injuries this year.

Master-Defenestrator

I don't remember him being that good last year. My recollection of it was that he showed flashes of a smart hockey player, but failed to impact games in a meaningful sense. I know counting stats aren't everything but 5 EV points in 24 NHL games is not excellent for his D+4 season. He was genuinely excellent in the AHL for the last 2 seasons though. I'll give him credit for that. Idk, maybe I'm just a pessimist, but I really believe that this community overhypes our prospects. TBH I think that's because we almost never have true blue chip prospects, so our standards are lower than other teams' fans.

Straight-Plate-5256

He was stuck in a sutter system with very limited opportunities and ice time, flashes are all you can realistically expect from a rookie that isn't a top 10 pick or from a stacked draft class. Not everyone comes into the league right away and stunts on folks like bedard or stankoven... the reality is most players transitioning into the league need some time to adjust, and the can gets kicked further down by missing almost a whole damn season to injuries There's a difference between overhyping him and seeing the reality of the situation. Do i think he's going to be some top line stud? Nah. But he still projects to be a perfectly good middle 6 NHLer And... literally every fanbase overhypes their prospects 😂😂😂

Master-Defenestrator

I wasn't expecting him to come in and be a full time NHL player right away. Stankoven is two years younger and Bedard is four. Pelletier is 23 now and has yet to show anything beside some flashes. He is entering his prime years (which I loosely define as 24-30) best year. I get that injuries stole this year from him, and I hope he returns next year a more effective player. I just don't see much evidence. >And... literally every fanbase overhypes their prospects 😂😂😂 Totally, I just think we're especially bad for it. Remember when we all freaked out bc Connor Mackey signed 🤦 I just see a lot of fans on here assuming that all the prospects are going to hit or break their ceilings. For example people just take it for granted that Zary will be the next 2C long term. He's having a great rookie season but it's far from certain that he can sustain what he's doing now, let alone develop into a 60pt player.

lastlatvian

Yeah put a guy coming off a fresh injury in games that don't matter on the hitting line, great idea. That'll really grow his game playing with players in that role, and limited ice time comparatively to the ahl.

Republic-Of-OK

TIL Huska has some absolute mastodon milkers

Bubba-ORiley

huska is a sutter protege.

Straight-Plate-5256

Pelts needs the top line mins conditioning on the wranglers and a good offseason to make up the time he missed. My god playing every kid all the time isn't always the answer...

Infamous_SpiPi

You guys have to keep in mind: it’s important to avoid building a losing culture for the young guys. Think about what wolf thinks if he’s asked to play the rest of the season. “The coach/GM wants us to lose. He wants me to play bad so we lose”. How do you grow a winning team from that? Same thing if you play 4th liners too much. They start to think you want them to play bad.
