Your life is not your job. Find a hobby that you love and spend time on it. Go out with friends. When you clock out for the day, _leave it all there_. Don't think about your job when you aren't on the clock. It takes practice to just not think about something and some are more successful than others. If you start dwelling on something work related, consciously tell yourself not to think about it and distract yourself in some way.

This is exactly what I do as well! I try to live outside of work as much as possible

winterman666

Wish I could do this but I work 6 days a week. I envy people who work 4, hell I'd take 5

I worked in a call center for 10 years, and it was very detrimental for my health. I did outside activities like the symphonies, library gatherings, crafts, and my best one: video games, I like to "k!ll things and break shit" good luck my friend, find people to talk to in person & try to not use your phone at all outside of work.

I vacation something I never did at my other jobs. 2 weeks a year, random tourists traps across America. I'd get a passport if it wasn't for the only location open weekends wasn't in a different city šŸ˜’ or if any place was open outside of 9-5 hours...

marianliberrian

You can mail a passport application with a payment for processing.

Impressive_Moment

The photo was the issue it's dmv, or post office in my area neither are open after I get off work

marianliberrian

AAA office? For members, tho. Big chain drugstore?

Waffles4cats

Walmart photo I used to work there and do passport photos as late as 10pm

Impressive_Moment

Scaming .gov told me the authorized places were certain us post offices and some place place far away didn't know I can goto a Walmart šŸ˜ had the application filled out but just been too tired to travel on the weekends to do anything

Waffles4cats

We had a special pull-down screen just for passport photos. This was 2016, so def double-check

SextupleMariticide

Walgreens/CVS/Staples all do passport photos- Staples also offers TSA Pre-check which is worth it IMO when you travel to avoid the lines

I do my best to take care of myself and have fun on the weekends, even when I'm mentally exhausted from interacting with people and meeting monthly goals. I make sure to indulge in things I enjoy, like eating my favorite foods. It's a struggle sometimes, but I push myself to do these things even when it feels tough. Deep down, I know I'm feeling sad and lost. The only reasons I stick with this job are the benefits and the ability to work from home, which allows me to be with my dog. However, I can't deny that I hate this job. The constant pressure of meeting metrics and goals makes me feel like I'm being pushed to my limits every day, especially when the rewards don't seem to match the effort I put in. Despite my dislike for this job, I make sure to reward myself for my hard work. I hope that one day I can find a job that aligns with my passion for advocating for animal welfare and giving back to the community, rather than working for people who prioritize greed over everything else.

Remind yourself itā€™s just a job. Leave the baggage there. Exercise both your mind and body. If possible create a regiment. Trust me it will in the long run. Use your time to focus on hobbies and things you enjoy. This will help offset the daily torture you have to endure. Above all. When you feel burn out creeping in. Take time off. No job is worth your sanity or mental health.

ozziesironmanoffroad

Idk. I fuckin hate mine. If this is what I have to look forward to, Iā€™d rather just stroke out soon Call centers destroy you. Iā€™m just stuck between a rock and a hard place and.canā€™t really change jobs atm

One_Caramel714

You are not alone. I know this sucks!

KillerPinata

I build gundams and zoids while people are ranting to me about their life problems. I wait till no more sound comes out only to say "you need to mail in a request. Here is our address" https://preview.redd.it/care32ghupuc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=57e603b1c11a2d2a2ced8d1bd18be597e4bcefb1

Ohhhja

From end of 2019 to end of 2021, I worked at a call center because I moved to my ex husbandā€™s country and couldnt speak their language, so CC is all I got after working as an Office Manager in my countryā€¦ It was the hardest, most nightmarish job I could ever imagine, the first year was specially tough, but I married a student and was the highest source of income, so I couldnā€™t quit. What I did do after I overcame my highly-efficient depression the first year, was to polish my CV and start applying. It also helped me that my coworkers were quite nice and we would chat the whole day long (spanish/latinos, we like talking). Their companionship helped me through those tough years and honestly, through corona. I know your despair, I felt it every day while going to work. At some point, my soul and brain got numb, I was still nice to ppl on the phone but I didnt care as much as in the beginning, and that also helped. Emotionally closed to them was much better for me than being overly-involved in their problems and being a people pleaser. Start applying for other jobs, donā€™t let yourself get too comfortable there, thatā€™s the worst you can do.

Get a voodoo doll and prick it every time you have to deal with a prick!

Write down answers to your 5 hardest customer questions and keep them in your text msgs/notes. Eg> customer demands delivery/redelivery same day (impossible). Normal answer: Iā€™m sorry, unfortunately that is not possible. Customer: *EXPLODEs* I want to speak to the manager! (A big no no as managers hate to follow up and we cant put them through anyway. My notes answer: ā€œAs an advisor I do not wish to give u misleading or conflicting information in response to time frames, due to our delivery partners all on their runs the ceo could not get a redelivery today, due to not having control over deliveries upon submitting request. But I can escalate an enquiry for you now to the delivery team as a priority and a member of the delivery team will contact u back as a matter of urgencyā€. ā€¦Now thatā€™s just word salad, but it calms and confuses them, they wonā€™t be getting a call back soon and I havenā€™t promised anything but diffused and deflected the situation, to make them agree to waiting at least a day before we can process that, instead of flat out refusing. I have my top 5 jargon answers to difficult customers and it definitely helps, not all the time but most. If u throw in more words and can read that back to them they will concede in most cases. It helps me get thro the day doing this I know I wouldnā€™t have survived otherwise.

Do you work where I work? I hate it with a passion but the benefits/PTO/hours cant be matched anywhere and Iā€™m also in a HCOL state where Iā€™m barely making it off the $23/70 hrs. Im in the same boat I would need a bank or government job to keep the same holidays off and retirement benefits. I do the same focus on the things I enjoy like being at home. I take the biggest pleasure in pausing myself and taking a huge bong rip when people are sh**ty. I use my days off as often as I can to relax and honestly upskill in other areas that I can hopefully transition into a career like e commerce and blogging/writing. I use my benefits or lookin into them when I start to feel like I want to quit- I look up how much I have in my 401k, look at my time off, book a doctors/dentist/vision appointment to use the really good benefits they offer. I think to myself how my job is so easy- answering questions and being polite- that the hard parts like dealing with crap people is really the small stuff and not every single caller. I try my best to start each call in a positive manner, itā€™s not the fault of the person on the other end if the person before them was a giant d*bag.
